Grey's Anatomy Review: The Right To Know

by at . Comments

Intensity. This is something that Grey’s Anatomy knows how to bring right through your television screen, doing so once again via "Support System." There were fights, breakdowns, and realizations. So let’s get to the latest review, shall we?

Oh Yes, It’s Ladies Night. The idea of ladies night? Terrific. Watching all the girls try to get out of it? Ehhh. This arc would have been much better if the ladies did actually go out. Not that I didn’t enjoy Teddy showing up with wine and Dirty Dancing (aka the newly single girls favorite move). And Arizona has really grown to be an enjoyable character. The writers have done a great job in making her the type of person you root for all of the time. At least she knew they couldn’t ditch the big sad widow.

Beef With The Chief. Sloan played Chief for the day in Owen’s absence and he became Hardcore Sloan instead of just McSteamy. He knows the rules and he wants to follow them. Gotta say, I wouldn’t mind having Mark become the next Chief. Plus, it gave Eric Dane a chance to light up the screen for more than just a few minutes.

Mark Prepares to Operate

The McDreamys. How cute have Meredith and Derek become? Watching them in the daycare with Zola made me realize that these two characters have grown the most. Remember dark and twisty Meredith? How about the hot hookup during the prom at the hospital while Derek was still married? These were the building blocks of these characters and they have built them up to perfection. Seriously, love them.

Speaking of dark and twisty... Meredith continued to reach out to Yang knowing her situation. It surprises me a bit that Cristina hasn’t confided in her person yet, but saying it out loud makes it real. That can’t be easy.

Have A Right To Know? Oh Cristina, how much hurt can you take? After Owen admitted his one night stand with a woman from the hospital, Cristina begged for the details. Is this really something you want to know? Does this make it any easier or does it just hurt you more? For one thing, it makes it a reality.

The fact that Owen did this because he wanted to hurt Cristina about the abortion is just plain wrong. If you are not happy in your marriage, if you can’t get over something, try to fix it or walk away. Do Not Cheat. There is no excuse, even if it was just for sex.

Xtina Yang

The hour ended with Owen leaving the home he shares with his wife. Is this the end for them or will Cristina take him back?

After Thoughts:

  • Mark Sloan should wear a suit every single day. The man cleans up nice.
  • How hilarious was Owen crashing through the door after Cristina unlocked it? Gotta love Yang’s laugh.
  • Last episode, Lexis was all worried about Mark moving in with Julia. Now, not a word about it. Little Grey needs a solid arc of her own.
  • How cute is Mer helping out the other residents for their boards? Those exams are bound to be intense and who knows if they will all pass.

Overall, another solid episode from Shondaland. The flashbacks through Cristina and Owen’s relationship were a perfect touch to prepare us for the breakdown between the couple. What is to come with these two? Will Cristina take her unfaithful husband back? How many of you with Burke would make an appearance right now in one of his sweet turtlenecks?

So until next time, TV Fanatics. Hit up the comments and let us know what you thought of “Support Systems.” Was the build up of Owen’s affair a let down? Don’t forget to check back later for the official Grey’s Anatomy Round Table. There are only a handful of episodes left. Make your predictions for the end of the season now!

2/2 Yahoo Sandra Oh! I always think she's a good actress. Cristina... I feel bad for her and no matter what Owen says, what he did has no excuse. But I also feel that she made mistakes too (abortion of their child). They are both responsible for the destruction of their relationship. I don't know, man! They are both so damaged and so is their relationship. Guess nobody really knows what to do in that kind of situation. So it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Ah, the boards! I forgot what I read about some spoilers about this but if there is/are someone/some who wouldn't pass, I'll take a guess and say Avery because he never has enough time to study? and Cristina failing and Mer switching results or something so Cristina "passes" haha! I kid. Jeez, I hope Mer is behind all that. Poor Teddy, everyone's acting awkwardly around her. And I LOVE that the McFamily are perfect and happy :)

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING in this review! Yes, Dr. Sloan! I think it would be awesome if he becomes chief someday :) I was having trouble thinking at first why he was saying NO a lot. I thought he was just letting the power get to him or something but then Webber said Sloan is in Plastics so he's been trained to perfection but in General Surgery, you don't really need perfect and pretty, you just need things to work. And yes, the man cleans up nice except Little Grey shoulda seen it! That's another one I agree on, Lexie! Seriously, what happened to last week's story?! How can they always neglect the Mark-Lexie story and put them in the background? I mean, they deserve some solid and CONSISTENT recognition. It would have been fun to see some interaction while Mark was chief. Seriously, their storyline is my biggest frustration, STOP NEGLECTING THEM SHONDAAAA! I swear, I'm losing patience. They're my favorite couple and about 70% of the reason why I watch this show religiously. Yahoo Sandra Oh! I always think she's a good actress. Cristina... Does anyone know who the actress was who played Owen's "other woman"?

I've always hated Owen, but apparently not enough. When he married Cristina, he KNEW she didn't want kids, and vowed fidelity anyway. Cristina never vowed to become his incubator on command. Now, he's throwing tantrums because she's not "growing up," i.e. wanting what he wants. This crap about him being honorable is absurd. He's a coward. An honorable man would divorce her and walk away, not punish his wife for who she has always been. The rest of this episode was a complete waste. Mark is a joke, always has been, and Teddy's ridiculous grief is beyond tedious. She didn't even know what's his name for as long as this has dragged out. Grey's needs to step it up going into the Finale. Crowen is boring, and nothing else is happening.

I feel for both Owen and Christina. In Owen's defense, it is really hard to get over the fact that his wife got rid of their baby! Murder is never right, whether its a grown adult, 17 year old child or a defenseless fetus who cannot fight for his/herself! That would be really difficult to forgive. In Christina's defense, the man she took her vows with broke those vows to sleep with another woman whom he doesn't even remember her name, so it was nothing more than stranger sex, how do you get past that? How do you allow that person to share your marriage bed with you again? And to emotionally pay her back for getting an abortion? Doesn't he think she is in enough hell going through that abortion? He totally made the wrong decision and now he has to live with the consequences. If I were Christina I would never let him come back. After a few weeks of grieving and trying to compose myself, I would head straight to my lawyers office and begin divorce proceedings. You never come back completely from somemthing like that. Its best to just pick up the pieces of your life, try to build something out of it and go on with your life.

I thought Mark was AWFUL as chief...and he wasn't supposed to be. How'd that happen?
I thought Cristina "got" it when she came to the realization...real or not of, "you wanted to hurt me back." I think Owen's words at the end might be their salvation...who knows where Shonda will go with it? Sandra Oh has always been amazing in this role. NO...I do not wish for Burke to come back...lame character. Owen and Derek are priceless together...maybe that will be how things turn around for that couple. I really like Owen. I think his combat surgeon background cannot be ignored as part of the source of his issues.
Yeah, the whole girls' night was a bust...loved Bailey and her man...

This was a pretty good episode.
I do not know where to being with Owen and Christina, it was not surprising that she wanted to know all the details, she is a surgeon and that is her nature to have to know ever thing and in this case it was in order to process and grieve and decide if she could forgive him and up until the point of Owen admitting he did it just to hurt her and get back at her for having the abortion I think Christina would have forgiving him. Owen did not even know the girls name, so even though he said he wanted to do anything to make it better and then when he was leaving he said he would always love her and never love another woman again. I am not a fan of Owen's at this time. I think Christina will be the one to leave at the end of the season.
I thought they would have shown more girls night, instead all we saw was more reluctance from Arizona, Callie and Miranda, they all wanted to get laid instead of spending time with Teddy who could use some friend time.
I liked at the end that Meredith decided to help out Jackson, April and Alex and then Christina showing up at the end to study as well was very sweet.
Mark as chief was super funny, I had a feeling that he was not asked to be chief for the day but he knew it was the only way he would every be chief. While I think that people should respect the chief, Webber made the right call in proceeding with the surgery.

cont: I have started to think that being married to twisted sisters has turned Owen and Derek TWISTED BROTHERS by defualt by always ending up there for eachother :P

I say it every week and I will say it again: Give Sandra Oh her well-deserved Emmy already! Such solid acting that I am a guy and yet I feel for Cristina, not Owen - The part where he hysterically laughed and realized that she is the Intelligent Robot Cristina crying and wasting time over a "boy" glimpsed the REAL Scalpel-Hungry Cristina! Crowen - After the abortion and the cheating, I feel that both of them need a break from eachother, but i don't see how any couple would overcome this big bulldozer of a damage. Definitely the most integral part was Mer's call to Cristina - the realization from her patient's expectation for "Family to be around whther you ask or not" - and then Cristina showing up to study at Mer's - Priceless Well, Sloan was good as chief - so was Lexie as a vessel of information broken by overload, would have been more fun to have both interact with MArk as chief. I have started to think that being married to twisted sisters has turned Owen and Derek TWISTED BROTHERS by default :P They always end up being there for each other :P

I hated this episode even though the acting was stellar. I totally get where Christina is coming from wanting to KNOW the details. Not knowing is the worst. Mark Sloan let the "power" go to his head. Shame on the girls for trying to get out of ladies' night. It is ONE night out of their lives to help a friend who is grieving. Seriously! But at least we got a chance to see Bailey, Arizona, Callie and Teddy, all of whom I'd like to see more of. This show needs to get back to focusing on Meredith Gray and Derek -- it is "Grey's Anatomy" and I feel like Mer and Der have take a back seat this season and I miss McDreamy. I have never liked Owen, but the idea to bring Burke back is ridiculous -- he was worse! Of course Christina bemoaned the fact that she was crying over a boy when she should have been studying for the boards -- medicine has always been her life. I hope they get Mark and Lexie back together sooner rather than later.

I have a right as your wife to know what you did.

Cristina

Every little kid knows the words to the song. The foot bones connected to the leg bone. The leg bones connected to the knee bone. In med school, you learn it's a little more complicated than that. The songs not wrong. Everything is connected.
