Homeland Spoilers: A Friend Turns Foe

How is Carrie’s rehabilitation? What’s going on with Saul? What’s up with Brody, his wife and his political career?

Those are just a few of the questions Homeland executive producer Alex Gansa says will be addressed when his thrilling drama kicks off season two on September 30. What else can fans look forward to?

You can read Gansa's full interview at TV Line, but among the highlights:

  • There will be a six-month time jump.
  • Carrie will be in a new state of "mental health" and back on the trail of Abu Nazir, but not associated with the CIA in any way following her season one breakdown.
  • Mike will be a "major factor" in Brody's life, but not his personal life this time. Says Gansa: “Since he’s in military intelligence, he is going to get a hold of the commission report on the assassination attempt against the vice president, and there’s going to be a bunch of stuff in there that doesn’t make sense to him.”
  • Jamey Sheridan, as Vice President Walden, and Navid Nagahban, as Abu Nazir, have received series regular promotions, with Gansa teasing the latter will "factor in a major way this year," perhaps beyond flashback or video appearances.

Saul: It was ten years ago. Everyone missed something that day.
Carrie: Everyone's not me.

Carrie: Because Abu Nazir is playing the long game. This way no one expects a thing.
Saul: Except you?
Carrie: Except me.
