I HATE that Trooper Tom is dead. Other than that it was a great episode. Well except for Winona. I wish they had never made her pregnant. I like the lady at the bar where Raylan lives. I agree with everyone about the Arlo/Raylan developments. Boyd had been treating him like family but to try and kill your own son. I liked the Quarles character but not Limehouse.

The best showS on TV are Justified and Breaking Bad.
Are we really sure Quarles is dead?
I see no body and hear no definitive talk he was dead.

was wondering why Limehouse sent Earl away too for a moment, but although we thought the safety deposit box scam was Limehouse's plan with Earl doing his bidding, the reveal that Johnny was feeding the information out suggests that Earl really was trying to bite the hand that was feeding him.
What a finale! Night of surprises. Arlo is going to jail and Johnny is the traitor.
Quarles went down in a big way. If his departure wasn't great enough, with his arm chopped off, he managed to drop one final huge bomb. Arlo killing Trooper Tom was like the last thing I would expect. The whole situation with Raylan, Boyd and Arlo is just mind-blowing. Man in a hat could just as easily be Raylan. Boyd called Arlo his family, which just made it all that worse for Raylan. And then Arlo took the blame for killing Devil to protect Boyd. That was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.
Johnny took me completely off guard. He was not supposed to cross Boyd. Ever. Sorry Johnny, but as of now your days are numbered. That sucks, because I really like you.
Final scene with Raylan and Winona was so amazing. She needs to stop being ridiculous and come back to him. The look on her face when she realized what "man in a hat" meant - priceless. And the line about Raylan disarming Quarles

Does it bother anybody at all that this show is so clearly NOT shot in Kentucky, but in California? And that a lot of the actors are in serious need of a dialogue coach...especially Arlo - he sounded like he was from Maine. That said the writers tied together the various narrative arcs together well in the last episode...and no, it's not guaranteed that either of the two injured parties are dead. People often do not bleed out with total amputations such as that delivered by Limehouses' cleaver, and generally only one out of 4 single gunshot wounds ends in death. Both assuming that basic first aid was rendered.

This is, without a doubt, the most intelligent, witty, sophisticated show on TV.
Neal McDonough was absolutely brilliant as the psychopath Quarles--I never thought that anyone could ever equal Margo Martindale's Mags Bennett--as was Jeremy Davies as the witty, eccentric Dickie Bennett. I do hope that Dickie returns.
And, of course, my favorite sympathetic villain, Boyd Crowder.

When season two ended, I thought they were going to have a difficult time replacing the loss of Mags. I thought Mags was a great character... Well, they were able to replace Mags with another great character in Quarles. This show has been terrific and I can not wait to see what they do with season 4. On a side note, FX has been outstanding creating these types of series. The Shield (my all time favorite, Rescue me, and now this one. Good stuff, and I hope it continues.

to explain "this is our home, Raylan" defined the theme for the season. A better ending would have been for Raylan and Boyd to team up as they did at the end of season one, along with Limehouse to battle Quarles, Duffy and some of the Detroit toughs in a major battle to save Harlan. It should probably have taken place in Nobles Holler. It should have ended with the strains of "You will never Leave Harlan Alive" sounding over Quarles' dead body. Instead, both sides degenerated into in-fighting. There was no victory, it was just sad. I don't get into a lot of TV shows. But this show was different. Now it's just going the way they all do sooner or later once the creators have lost their sense of it. I had hoped it would last longer.
What I did like about Season 3 was the way they concentrated on a single storyline with multiple twists and turns rather than multiple minor sub-stories nearly every week that just scattered the energy of the main storyline. Justified isn't necessaril

Justified is, without a doubt, the best show on TV. But that's where my agreement with the review and other comments ends. I did not think this was a fitting finale to the 3rd Season. It was a great season, but it lost its continuity with the first two seasons and I think the writers lost their way toward the end of the season.
This show is primarily about the different world view of Harlan and the rest of the world. The established theme throughout the season was not Raylan's "daddy issues" nor was it the idea of "family." The theme was "home" in the same way that the theme of Season One was Boyd's and Raylan's friendship and the theme of Season Two was Mag's vision of "mountain justice." Dickie Bennett started this season when he attacked the oxy bus belonging to the Dixie Mafia last season. Now home is being threatened by outsiders as a result and it is time to pull together and protect your home. Boyd's whole thing about Quarles being a "carpet bagger" and his attempt to

This was the best episode of season 3. Writing, acting, everything was spot on. My personal favs were the same as others. I loved the scene in the RV, Raylan playing "keep away" with the Quarles arm, Raylan's confusion at Arlo's comment at Johnny's Bar about a man in a hat being shot and hoping it was Raylan and then putting it all together in the end when he finds out Arlo shot Tom Bergen. I also loved the narration at the end that morphed into a conversation with Winona. Last season she said she wanted to hear about how his day went. Well, she got her wish. I just wish the season as a whole had been better. It was so hard for them to top season 2 with the Bennett storyline and last season's finale with Raylan hanging in the tree was THE BEST episode of TV that I have ever seen.

1) I agree on all points of the review of last nights finally.
2) I have read most of the comments, I agree that it did start
a bit slowly. I didn't like Quarelles (sp?) but then of course
we are not suppose to. That being said, I didn't "like" Mag's
either but...you felt something for her...She could twist your
around her heart and thoughts (even if they were demented). I
had no empathy for Quarelles...That was the difference in the
two antagonists. Boyd is a jerk, but you love him...He can suck
you in...You have empathy for his character because of his true
Father and what a-hole he was...You wonder had he had a different
Father...would he of turned out to be a criminal? We'll of course
never know that...
My thanks to all who make this one of the best show on television.

Wow, what an amazing ending. Last year, the season with Meg's and her crew was amazing and got a lot of people hooked on this show. But this one seemed to start off slow. I heard people say they just couldn't get into it with this mob guy - "why was he here", "where is the story" and so on. To those that didn't stick with the season, you LOST out to an amazing finale. I bet today they are hearing about the finale and are asking a lot of questions.
The scene in the RV with Duffy had me sitting on the edge of my seat and laughing at the same time. The entire episode caused my emotions to be on the same roller coaster as we saw in Timothy Olyphant's face at the end of this episode. Very sad ending for Raylin.
