Who Should Run Gossip Girl Next Season?

at .

Last week it was reported that, in all likelihood, Gossip Girl executive producer and show-runner Josh Safran is leaving the Upper East Side and headed to the theater district to take over NBC's fledgling Smash.

If Safran indeed helms Smash, this obviously leaves a void on Gossip Girl.

The show has yet to be picked for another season, thus making talk of replacements premature, but it seems more likely than not that a sixth and final season will be granted by the network at some point.

Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz are also executive producers, but ceded daily control of the show to Safran after the CW drama's fourth season. If GG returns next fall or winter, who should run the show?

Someone from within? Someone new to the series altogether? It'll be interesting to see what happens. Share your thoughts on Safran's departure and your suggestions for future show-runners in the comments below ...
