Good episode... but the A-story was unusually weak and contrived. I'm assuming that for a zombies story and so much attention on the two B-plots, there wasn't much to be done about it.
The subplot with Alexis was wonderful. Having her drop from the ceiling was hilarious and very clearly penance when she realized (yet again) that growing up isn't about pushing her father away. It was touching enough that Castle clearly didn't notice that she was in a catsuit and high heels.
The decision to have her stay on the main cast was the wrong one, in my opinion. Not because Molly Quinn isn't talented-- she's a gem. But BECAUSE she's talented and the vacuum she leaves behind will let the writers show some of the emotional depth in Castle without messing around yet again with the Caskett relationship. As a college student, frequent semester breaks and a multimillionaire father give the writers plenty of license to have her back (or send Castle and Beckett there). Sending her to Sta
