David McCallum Signs Two-Year Extension With NCIS

at . Comments

David McCallum will return to NCIS for a 10th season next fall, and an 11th the year after that if the series continues on CBS. The original cast member agreed to a new, two-year contract this week.

McCallum is one of four original cast members whose contracts are up at the end of this season, along with Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and Sean Murray (who joined during the first season).

During the quartet’s previous renegotiation two years ago, McCallum again was the first to reach a new agreement at the end of April. Talks with the other three stretched past the upfronts into June.

There is indication of that scenario happening again this year, with Weatherly, Perrette and Murray all in various stages of new negotiations. All ultimately re-signed then, of course, and are expected to again.

The rest of the cast, including leading man and executive producer Mark Harmon, is already under contract through the conclusion of NCIS Season 10, which was recently announced by CBS.

The Scottish-born McCallum, 78, has been a TV institution for decades, most notably in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Sapphire & Steel, and now our beloved Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard on NCIS.

Just because McCallum signed a 2 yr contract doesn't mean he didn't die on the beach. It wouldn't be the first time they brought someone back as a ghost. They did it with Kate.

Amen Vicki! I'm right there with you and Ducky, have a heart attack, screaming at the TV "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"....they CAN'T write off Ducky....and I'm so glad they're not....Love me some NCIS! :)

i hope all the cast returns, wouldn't be the same without even one of them, i really love gibbs, sure wish they would hurry and get zeiba and tony together, they would be fantastic as a team, get them married to each other in the show, what a duo that would be....phyliss in sc glad to see duckie will be back

Thank God. I nearly had a heart attack myself last night. Every one in NCIS has a special place and losing one would send the show into off-balance. Yea Ducky,

I Love NCIS. it is a wonderful show i have been watching from the start its real life here in norfolk virginia being a big military town i love all the actors on the show keep. keeping us on the edge of our seats yall are all GTEAT thsnks

So relieved Ducky will be back, I shed a tear when he dropped to the sand in the series finale, I truly hope also that Jamie Lee Curtis returns as a permanent character

So upset when Ducky slid down onto the sand all by himself in his wedding getup. Had to get online and reassure myself he'll be alright, life is sad enough without losing Ducky. I too was around for sexy Illya in man from UNCLE, he has aged with such grace.

Please, bring Ducky, and everyone else, back! NCIS wouldn't be the same without him.

WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!!! so relived that Duckie is comming back.......love NCIS...Abbey is from louisanna and all the south loves her.and the rest of the gang.

Glad to hear that Ducky will be back, and didn't die. I really like his character, and he blends so well with the other great characters. As a teenager, I enjoyed David McCallum as Illya Kuryakin on the MAN FROM UNCLE. He was also great in The Great Escape as the disburser. He is a treasure to have on NCIS, and I heard he is quite a great guy offscreen as well.

NCIS Quotes

Tony: One other question, I know you're an expert in English history. And I was just wondering, have you ever heard of Archibald Drummond, the 17th Earl of Trent?
Ducky: The Earl of Trent. No, I can't say I have. Why?
Tony: I was just wondering. Thanks.

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.
