@No Second Troy I watched it tootbut that doesn't mean this will be season 1 all over again but just that it will be more simillar to it than for example season 4.Anyway I respect your choice and also hope that you will keep informed on season 6 beacuse you never know and you just may like it

I won't be sitting through Season 6- I've already watched Season 1 :)- the show is pretty much over now anyway

Things are at such a sad pass with this show that I forgot Monday was the finale until the last few minutes, and tuned in to check it out. The original Gossip Girl was a fascinating psychological study that reminded one more of literature or interesting film, while the current show is the direct progeny of all the soap operas that are now off the air. And it sucks, in case I wasn't clear.
The only interesting things about the finale were Dan's plan with Georgina and Serena behaving badly. Chuck/Blair has been so done and overdone that it's now like a can of soda left to sit on the counter for a few days. Who gives a darn what they do? Live or die, get together or not, who cares? The "epic" is dead and already buried.
At this point I merely root for Jack to have a romance with Serena, as the obvious choice for amusing times. What else is left to throw a wrench in Season 6? Maybe Bart will try to kill Blair. Maybe Blair will find Bart a more appealing sugar daddy than Chuck. Oh, w

I think it is refreshing how they went back to explore how people were. Dan doesn't need to be on the UES anymore. He is a writer, which by nature will always make it view things and ultimately be from the outside of everything. I think it is going to be a great thing for the show to see the Serena that once was because her old self hasn't been seen by the viewers for real. love Blair chasing Chuck! we need a build up for the reunion! as for Lily dumping Rufus...well, if she and Bart are going to get taken down, it is best to let them fall together instead of let poor Rufus get destroyed as collateral damage of Lily.

what a dajjalic tv show!! i started watching it knowing it was about some corrupted teens but continue watching, hoping for the best for them, hoping they would redeem themselves, that there are hope for humanity.
i'm wrong. five years later, the writers havent learnt a thing, they are keen to make this about unredeemable evil people; the older they are the more dajjalic they become.
even the moral compass is no more. what sick people are these gg writers and producers!
i had been stupid for watching the series again for the hope that was dair. i didnt watch the finale, the reviews are enough for me to end my stupidity. what a waste! i regret ever spending so much time and energy and heart and mind over gg and gg related stuff.
i'm done!
my prediction?

@No Second Troy I understand where you're coming from and I agree with you that it shouldn't have been done,but it was so lets try and make the most of it.The one thing I will not stand for is them reusing all the old storylines and Chair being front and center the entire season(like they did with Blair this season-and look at what that gave us) while the other characters play second fiddle for them

Blair is a successful businesswoman, and should settle down next to the man of her life - Chuck, and to reconcile with Serena! Jenny needs to go back to the UES as a successful fashion designer and to find a love for herself (Nate)! Erik should be back on the UES and help his sister! Vanessa should find a love for herself (Scott)! And while they do not that, I hope that they will have a lot of plots and intrigues, and that the audience is eagerly awaited each new episode. Well maybe, I say maybe a few additional new episodes!

I hope that the production of the series to shoot a season 6 as it was 1 or 2 season. Most of us agree that season 1 and 2 were the best. Well then, now at the end of the season 5 story goes back to the period before a season 1. All the characters have returned five years ago, but there are not those children from 5 years ago, they have achieved something in the previous period. But the main thing, what will happen to them in the end, that is still to them to prove in season 6! So the story of season 6 starts from scratch - Lily and Rufus are not together; Dan and Serena are not together; Nate has no girlfriend; Chuck and Blair together. Lily and Rufus back to find their love! Serena needs to decide what to do with her life, and to reconcile with Blair! Dan is a renowned writer, but he must save the love of his life - Serena! Nate is a successful editor, but should find a girl for himself ( Lola or Jenny)! Chuck should again become a successful businessman. Blair is a successful bus
Look you can talk about going back to your roots and playing an homage to Season 1 but you can't expect viewers to pretend the last four seasons didn't happen- really- it's beyond daft.
This is not a science fiction show where you can hit some giant reset button-the characters are not in High School anymore- the past four seasons happened.
A show is about the journey the characters go on not the destination or the endgame- it's the journey we watch as viewers, if anyone seriously still trusts the writers to deliver something fresh and original, I'm happy for them but it's not the pilot they should have rewatched before they wrote the finale but the entire five seasons

Sorry my phone lagging a bit so I accidentaly posted twice
I agree that what the writers and the previous showrunner(I can't even bear typing his name) did wasn't cool but it was the best way to clean house,tie up old storylines and set the best foundation possible for the swan song.I believe that the entire final season will be an omage to season 1 so that's probably the biggest reason for what they did,and who knows maybe just maybe the "2007 GG redux" will bring us the best season yet!

@Jemma Jay while I do understand why you're angry, you and everyother Dair fan(I know you are one) should realize that this "reboot" of sorts is the best way for the show to get back on track.So don't bitch about the demise of Dair,which I have to admit brought a lot of humor to the show(directly or indirectly),just move on and enjoy the great season(I hope) to come(also I would like to point out I'm not a Chair fan)
As for the spoilers I read the full article and I have to say that Dan and Georgina's arc sounds the most promising,but I also liked that it seems there won't be so much Chair drama.Here's to hoping for a great final season and the return of Derena!

Perdoname mi espanol no lo e usado en much tiempo. :) oh creo que el villan ahora es Bart y Lily. A mi personalment me gusta Bart y lily juntos.
I think right now what they are tryin to do is scrape thing that happened in season 4 and 5 which is not very good writing but there was a bunch of unnecessary crap in those two seasons. but I'm glad to see darkness Serena as we never really got to see her like that. I don't know why everyone thinks that Lily is being evil. If someone did that to me I would react the same way she did.

I have my doubts about the whole situation between Blair and Chuck, I do not want to be so excited because previously I was disappointed with the thing between Dawson-Joey-Pacey on Dawson's Creek. And what about all the emails Balir sent to Dan? That's doesn't main their over. I'm not defending Dair but come on, why don't have a good ending?
Now I'm going to pass with Serena, this whole feeling show was about her and where the fabulous girl go? Because the whole season the writers, producers or whatever don't pay any attentioon her, ahmm ok they do but come on dude was just for a second. All the was about the freaking bipolar Blair, and let me tell you I love Blair but these girl was so different so no her. Dan did the same thing to her and what do Blair? Blame Chuck??? And after 5 episodes go for him and said " I love you, I'm in love with you" when 3 episodes before she told him something completely different. The guy is so freaking in love with her.

+1. Could not agree with you more. Admitting you're going back to the Pilot (season) proves how bad the series has been and sort of makes it feel everything between then and now was such a waste (more so after the weak finale).
Unfortunately, chances are the Blair/Chuck relationship is going to be center stage again, more back/forth all the way to the series finale.
Of all the storylines mentioned above, Dan's outsider status is going to be the most interesting...or should be, I could see the writers messing that up too. The rest are just stupid and a result of what happened in the finale. (Come on, Ivy going after Lily? I thought money wasn't important to you and that you wanted to make good with her?)
Calm down- I am sure you are aware of the concept of different opinions.

I believe bring Bart Bass back from the dead was a 'jump the shark' moment and the retconning the show back to season 1- ignoring all the character development and progression since is a retrograde step for all the characters

I am so excited to see the final season especially since they are taking a walk back to the beginning to see what made the show such a hit. I wish Sara Goodman good luck cos it will not be an easy task laying it all out there and making GG end with a bang and not a whimper after the atrocious 5th season.
Admitting to rewatching the pilot just proves how completely useless these writers are. They're basically admitting you could tune in to GG for the first time at season 6, and you'd be at the exact same place as if you're watching season 1. Why are they touting this like it's a good thing? It's a complete breakdown in competent story-telling. They basically just hit the reset button because they didn't have the balls to take the show somewhere new. You'd think, since the show is at a definite end, they'd prefer to go out with some dignity. But none of the characters will, and therefore neither will they. Blair's grovelling for Chuck's affections, Chuck's got materialistic power issues, Dan is unrecognizable from himself all of two episodes ago, and Serena is a trainwreck. What a joke.

Tengo dudas con toda la situación entre Chuck & Blair, no me quiero emocionar mucho porque lo mismo sucedió con Dawson-Joey-Pacey en Dawson's Creek. También que pasa con los correos que recibió Dan de Blair? No son 100% si terminaron o no, porque no hay final... Y Serena pérdida ahora en drogas, quien será el valiente ahora de salvará si nadie se preocupa por ella.
