I read that dr shepard stated he'd stay long as he is allowed to continue his activiy of race car drivin and it was agreed.so I can't see merdith leavin if he stays.

They said they wouldn't kill the main caracters, so they can't kill him off. If he doesn't come back, it'll be for another reason. And they said we'd be surprised...so i think it'll be one of those...

I think it will be either Derek or Owen or Karev.
Derek, whilst heartbreaking, would be a twist like no other. If Meredith is pregnant (like a lot of people reckon - it was only that she had a hostile uterus, its well known that give a woman like that a baby and suddenly the hormones kick and bam she's pregnant), the house is almost finished, she has Zola as well, and she has to, therefore, stay. I think it really could be Derek.
Having just written that, I'm not sure of the impact of Owen's death, except that it'll make Cristina feel guilty as hell and everyone will remember how short life is.
Now, Cristina would be an interesting one to go...
Karev is one of my favourites and I love him to bits, but he's kinda not had a big storyline for a while and he does seem to be floating around a bit at the moment. I don't want him to go. Also, I think that whoever goes, will have a massive impact on Meredith and without being mean, I don't think Jackson or April would have t

There have been alot of speculations on who is going to die and who is going to fail thier boards test.... I personally think Christina is the one who fails which makes her have to stay at Seattle grace and as much as I don't want to say this but I think Derek dies which makes Meredith stay at seattle and maybe fix up the house her and derek have been working on...I have read in numerous magazines and websites that Patrick Demsey wants to take a new path in his career and that season 8 will most likely be his last... This devastates me... I'm still tring to get over George's death..LOL..

As for who is safe. Rhimes warned to not believe Ausellio. Could be just damage control but who knows.
Personally I think it´s going to be Richard. He has run his course and his times is up. what more can they do with him? No chance to ever be Chief again (thanks to Mer/trial), the wife no longer knows him, the residents are about to fly out of their nest as Attendings. If anyone´s journey is competed, it´s him. He IS the face of the hospital, and his death would affect everybody ("daughter Meredith; work-wife Bailey; best friend Derek and everybody who´s known him as Chief for so long.)

Shonda said there are certain characters that would not be acceptable for the audience if they were killed off. Mer/Der hooked the fanbase from day one and are the show´s "happily ever after CAN happen" couple and until I see evidence to the contrary, I refuse to believe that she would exclude McDreamy from her list of those who "can´t die". He may not be every single fan´s favorite but he carries more weight than George did and that character death already caused a massive backlash. I can´t see Shonda bein THAT stupid!

Here are some off the wall choices but still valid ones. Zola (I would stop watching) Tuck, Izzie or Preston off scree, but would cause emotional damage, Thatcher, or Lexi's sister!
If she said the originals are safe, aren't Derek an original? And Webber too?

I think it's derek and mer is pregnant, that would be devestating. if not derek then richard, his storylines are all tied up, unless he continues with jacksons mum.

OMG!! So the information about who's safe came from Shonda?! .. We cannot be sure about who is going to die before we see the episode.. Think before you type Dominique, unless you are friends with Shonda and know something we don't..

Honsetly, I think Christina is going to die. For what I've read, Sandra Oh wants to pursuit her career further. So, Christina is going to be killed off. Owen is going to be devastated because of how they said goodbye to each other and then he's going to get together with Teddy when the time is right.. I think there will be a plane crash or a car accident.. Yes..

All I know is May 17th is too far away and to lose one of the original members, my guess is it has to be either Derek or Richard,as all the other original cast members are safe. (Callie, Mark, Lexie, Arizona, April, Owen, Teddy, Jackson and April are all late comers to the show and are all safe).
I don't want to see Derek die. And it will be just as had to see Richard die because he is the heart and soul of the hospital as he has worked there for nearly 30+ years.
The next 2 weeks are going to be torture, then the wait to find out who will be back for season 9 in September.

You guys know it's going to be Derek right? He said that this is his last season without a doubt. So they're going to kill him and they said it's worse then the shooting, so what's worse then Derek getting shot? Derek dying.

Unless of Course Lexy and Derek have a fling. The way this last episode was ending it looks likely. In which case Mer will Choke her Sister to death.
