Grey's Anatomy Season Finale Promo: We Are Going to Die!

by at . Comments

The stunning end of last night's episode of Grey's Anatomy and the promo for next Thursday's season finale certainly made clear what the dark, complex thing Shonda Rhimes teased consists of.

In the aftermath of the crash, the doctors must battle to stay alive while trying to save the lives of their peers, as the shocking turn of events last night could mean devastating consequences.

Take a look at ABC's first promo for "Flight" and get scared now:

Also in the eighth season finale, Bailey and Ben make a decision regarding their relationship's future, Teddy is presented with a tempting offer, and Richard plans a special dinner for the residents.

As always, the Grey's Anatomy season-ender is not to be missed. Even with the original cast now under contract for next season, there's no telling which characters might pay the ultimate price.

For an in-depth discussion of this week's penultimate Season 8 episode, read our review of "Migration" from earlier. We've updated our Grey's Anatomy music section with last night's tracks, as well.

Then, as we gear up for the main event, tell us:

Will Mark and Lexie get back together? Are any or all of the doctors really leaving Seattle? Are Cristina and Hunt done? Will everyone survive the plane crash? Sound off in the comments below!

At first I thought it had to be Arizona, because she made Callie promise never to die/leave, and she bumped Alex Karev off the plane and took his seat. So if she dies it would be so ironic. It's as if the writers are flashing a neon saying Arizona is going to die. But the more I though about it, the more I realized that is a little too obvious. Also, they keep referring to the person that is going to die as a "loved one" or "beloved character". I don't love Arizona. I don't even like her. If she died I'd be perfectly ok with that and wouldn't shed a tear, because she annoys me. But Lexie ... I do love Lexie, and I would be heartbroken if she dies when she and Mark are supposed to get back together.

Tragically I think it is going to be Arizona :( All the drama build up seems to be pointing to her death. The touching moment she had with Callie, Arizona taking Karev's spot on the plane. I hope I'm wrong in all this, please let me be wrong!

It's WEBBER...

I'm still thinking it's webber who died on the road to rescuse them
it's a little tricky, ABC announce they renewed all cast's contrcat, doesn't mean who can't take the part in Scandal ABC expect Greys can keep going on until S15,they need new blood, so I think April, callie, Azi, Teddy Lexie are saved.

the death has to be from the plane crash. What are the chances every person would come out of that type of crash unscathed. So i agree with the post that if Derek goes the ratings will drop, same with Yang and Grey. I mean the show is a a shadow of what it once was. Its almost unwatchable at times. That whole story line with Arizona's brothers friend dying was f-ing boring, the hunt christina thing was interesting for a bit now that is boring. Teddy sucks. I agree that Lexie barely got any air time like George. My vote is that it is lexi. who knows.

Afterthoughts- Izzie - The creator stated that intentionally wanted to kill Izzie off, off-screen during the midst of season 7, giving closure to Alex but it did not happen, this could resurface. Also, when Katherine Heigl (Izzie) stated she wanted to come back her close friend in real life, Ellen Pompeo (Meredith) said she didn't think so in an interview. With a smile. Considering seeing articles of them hanging out, being friends and all, I wouldn't think that Ellen smiled out of vengeance or anything at Heigl. Izzie's return might fit in with the 'character coming back', possibly filling in the main role for next season as someone dies? Or IS the person that dies? 5/10.
Also, to aid Callie's possible death, in earlier episodes, Arizona stated that she wanted papers signed, officially granting her a parent to Sophia, giving her the right to raise her if Callie dies.
As Adele and other recurring characters aren't core members, I wouldn't consider them either, but it's Greys Anatomy, you never know! -Hey

Continued - Teddy - I wouldn't suspect her dying so much as leaving, the written promo includes "Teddy gets an interesting offer.." Maybe a new job opening? Allowing Cristina to stay, along with the others? 7/10 (Leaving, not dying.)
Lexie - As much as I hate to say it, she's the top contender of who I think may be dying. Trapped under a plane, lack of screen time during the season (Like George), and her storyline may which end in two ways. Confessing her love to Mark as she dies, which is 'bittersweet', causing most characters to stay. Another way could be confessing her love, living, continuing on with Mark. 9.5/10.
Mark - I wouldn't cross him off the list, he's on the plane as well. I definitely can see him dying from internal injuries after calming down from the adrenaline of the flight, (As Private Practice did with a main character a couple of years ago.) 7/10.

Continued - Callie - I didn't suspect her till I started shifting through these comments, about her promising Arizona that she'd be there to take care of her and never leave her, Shonda is quite cruel about such things. Maybe getting hit by a car? Killing off one half of the lesbian/kid duo would be harsh and may affect rating. 6/10.
Arizona - Another one of the three top choices for death. Her increased air-time during the end of the season, her tearful endeavour with Callie, her taking Alex's place. Her death would maybe take Alex to be the Peds attending, not sure how'd it affect the others in staying though, maybe their own injuries or partners injuries. Plus her real life pregnancy. 9/10.
Owen - Like Callie, didn't suspect him till I read the comments. Maybe he'd be injured and killed seeking the crashed flight? That'd certainly grant Webber and Derek the possible chief job, allowing April to stay, emotionally binding Cristina, along with Meredith, and maybe Alex. 7/10.

Continued - April - Definitely in my top three candidates for death. Just because 90% of Greys fans despise her, doesn't mean the cast, crew, and creators don't. I suspect suicide from a string of bad luck, getting into car crash after leaving Jackson at the bar, drunk and emotional, or getting hit by a car. 8/10.
Jackson - Really not in the whole mix of the plane crash, it'd definitely be shocking but eye candy has its' limits on 'belovedness' 2/10.
Webber - Initially, before the spoilers that his contract was renewed and such, I was positive he'd be the one who died, the last affair with Catherine, the dying wife, the loss of the Chief job, it'd all add up, plus with the finale entitled 'Flight', and him and Catherine promising each other to meet in Boston later on, I was sure. But now, with everyone going on, I'm not so sure. 5/10.

Here's my thought of who's dying/leaving on a scale of 1/10. Derek - Easily holds a large fanbase in the series, killing him off would turn off viewers, slandering rating, thus - ending the show. Possible he could substain injuries that gives him fewer appearances so PD can race in real life? 2/10.
Meredith - Definitely not, the main, core character of the show which is named after her? 1/10.
Christina - No, just.. no. She easily can hold half of the Grey's fanbase, once again, killing her = no ratings = no show. 1/10
Alex - Highly unlikely but might be possible. Shonda's known for her twists and killing him would back at the hospital can easily make every other character who's leaving, stay. 4/10.
Bailey - Completely different storyline, would totally not suspect her to die, but never cross someone off your list. She may depart with Ben to UCLA though. 1/10.
