Cont. This is a drama, sad and disappointing stuff happens in it, but there's also a little thing called "escapism". Shonda cheated, disappointed, and alienated the Lexie/Slexie fans at every turn. She strung them along with no intention of doing something decent for the character/couple for way, way too long. Obviously a ploy for ratings, which shows just what she is. She doesn't care about her fans, just the dollar signs and attention.
Also, what I meant to say in my other post was, I didn't care if Mark/Lexie got married or had babies, as Shonda thought us Slexie fans were shallow and wanted nothing but 100% perfection. I didn't want that, I just wanted them together in a substantial story-line. They never got it, but were wasted for three years.

Oh and for those of you who are trying to dictate what kind of opinions we can and can't express - SHUT IT. I took time out of my life to escape in this little fantasy world each Thursday night when I didn't have to, I could've been doing other things, Lord knows at times I've certainly wanted to. I spent good money on the DVDs, seasons 1-5. I believe I'm more than entitled to my opinion. People have had special preferences for certain characters/pairings rather than the whole show itself since the beginning of television, and have acted accordingly when something undesirable happened with said character/paring or actor. It's also ironic when most of you who are pissing and moaning at the rightfully angry, disappointed and cheated Lexie/Slexie fans, aren't even fans of the character/pairing yourself. You would definitely be singing a different tune if it was your favorite character/paring that was screwed over. So just please, shut the hell up.
This is a drama, sad and disappointin

I was very surprised that Lexi died. I was actually kind of sad I loved her on the show. But for as long as she was a part of greys I enjoyed watching her. I really liked the finale Rey unpredictable. :) can't wait till next season. Which is when by the way?
I agree with babygirl! Everything you said was exactly how I am feeling. It's a DRAMA show so there has to be an element of that in the episodes. Stop hating on shonda for the decisions she has made. Yes I am a huge lexie fan and hate to see her go but she felt it was her time. To chyler, Good luck on your next adventures! You will be missed at SGMW!
Can't wait for season 9!

I don't blame Chyler. I blame Shonda. Amazing how she goes on about how much she "loves" Chyler/Lexie...so, where was all that love for the past three years? This girl barely got anything substantial during that time, season four was her best work. Hell, Kim Raver and Sarah Drew have gotten better material than she has. People don't seem to get the point of why the Lexie/Slexie fans are so upset. It's not just the death, but the build-up, or in this case, a LACK of build-up, for her, and her relationship with Mark as well. They've always been treated as a halfhearted afterthought, more like a recurring character than relevant, consistent characters with a story-line. Why people fail to comprehend that, it boggles me. The salt was rubbed in the wounds when the dialogue included the marriage and babies stuff. Shonda apparently thinks us as very shallow and was giving us a slap in the face. I personally never cared whether they married or had babies, I just wanted them together in a more

get over it! this is a drama tv show and btw life sucks sometimes - if your husband, sister, friend etc dies its shit aswell - but thats life!!!! So stop telling us how much this sucks, well life sucks sometimes aswell.
And NO Arizoner wouldnt have been a better person to kill.
I think it was an amazing final - and respect to shonda... we have enough shows where no important person ever dies.. not that i want that, but thats not easy so it was good. And i bet youre all gonna watch it again.. why? cause u gonna realize - oh its just a show

First of all do not bash characters for their smile, that is actually bashing the actress! (referring to Nan's post) And if you don't like it don't watch! Every season finale has a death, if you watch grey's you know that so stop acting like you can't believe it! It's a good show and hopefully they will get some new characters for everyone to love like they always do.
I think a lot of people are exagerrating when they say the finale wasn't good just because Lexie died. It probably was not the best option for her exit... but the acting was so good, and that's enough to claim that the finale is good enough.
I am surprised Teddy's leaving as I was scared er and Owen will be an item.. Now we know that Owen will fight for Cristina and that, along with Teddy's leaving, will make her stay in Seattle. So glad we'd be able to see badass Cristina as an attending!

To all u haters, get over it! This show is built on drama and intense life decisions and accidents! I think Shonda is a Guinness, she is the best writer I know. She throws in suspense when needed and keep it low key when needed. I think this is a perfect ending. I love all of them and hurts to see anyone one die but the show would suck if it would just be a fair tail , now would it. So all of u that are threading to stop watching the show because of a decision that had to be made really need to put on your big girl/ boy panties and grow up. It is an amazing show and will go on if u cry babies keep watching or not! U ARE AWESOME SHONDA KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK! U ROCK!

Amazing, reading the comments here about how the network made a mistake killing character Lexie, when it doesn't even seem to be clear as to why the character was offed. Can;t help but thinking that this is just for entertainment and not real life. Of course, in order to tell the difference one needs to have one...
Personally, after watching the whole of GA it is just repetition of what has been there before in earlier Seasons, utterly predictable and bluntly put, it is just uncreative writing. Nuff said

I just have to say for everyone who's complaining about how the episode was written and how sudden Lexie's death was, when you're in a traumatic incident like that life doesn't make sense and everything is choppy, somethings pass in a blur and some stretch out like it will never end. They showed what was going on at SG because it heightened the suspense and you just wanted to scream at the characters to get a clue, something just went very wrong and if you listened the injuries they dealt with mirrored the injuries of the crash survivors. As far as the suddenness of Lexie's death, she had the back of a plane lying on her, the dramatic, heart wrenching goodbye was the only reason Shonda had her alive at that point, at least you got to hear Mark say goodbye to her, that doesn't always happen in real life.

Why Lexie, it should have been Arizona who is so annoying. Lexie is so sweet and I couldn't wait for her and Mark to get together again. I am so upset. Lexie was important to the show and was my favorite. To have to watch Arizona with that stupid smile on her face all of the time.

If you read Chyler's wiki page. She has a number of different upcoming projects, a movie if I recall correctly and a Brodway show.
Everyone lashes out on Shonda, but we don't really know how much was her decision and how much it was Chyler's. Maybe she wanted to leave? And do something else.
I think we need to get some perspective on how contracts for these characters are made. And sometimes is not necessarily the writer's or the Network's fault to kill or to let go a character.
I also loved Lexi, and I am devastated that she is not going to get her happy ending. But to blame it all on Shonda and to say the show is no longer good, with most of the original characters with renewed contracts is a little over the top, imo.

Damn I'm like crying again after reading this! Only Grey's makes me sob so hard season after season! They just know how to push the buttons and make you love these characters so damn much that it can't be healthy anymore! I will never get tired of this show. It's just good writing and characters who steal your heart in a second! Thanks for writing this show in that awesome way and please bring Izzie back! :D I'm still not over her!

So there will definitely be a season 9? If so, I'm still a happy camper. This season was great. To everyone who says it was boring after Lexie died? How do you think the loved ones from Seattle Grace will react when they are told about the plane crash? I was shaking the entire time, but it was so intense, I was craving for more.
Shonda, you're an excellent writer!
Okay. Callie said it best tonight: Life changes in an instant. Turns on a dime.
This finale was incredibly hard to write. I did not enjoy it. It made me sick and it made me sad. We end the season not knowing ANYTHING about the future. Except for two things. We know we are definitely saying goodbye to two of my favorite people: Chyler Leigh (Lexie) and Kim Raver (Teddy).
I know this season’s finale had some surprises for viewers and the exit of Kim Raver was one of the big ones. But Kim’s series option was up and she was ready to give Teddy Altman a much-needed vacation. It’s been a pleasure working with someone as talented and funny and kind as Kim; everyone is going to miss her terribly. I like to imagine that Teddy is still out there in the Grey’s Anatomy universe, running Army Medical Command and building a new life.
I love Chyler and I love the character of Lexie Grey. She was an important member of my Grey's family. This was not an easy decision. But it was a d

Lexie's death is exactly the reason why I prefer books to television; you become invested in a character and their storylines and than the actor either wants out or become too much of a pain to work with, and that's the character either dead or gone. It happened to George (who should have just gone to Iraq), it happened to Izzie (who Shonda really should have killed of) and now it happens to Lexie. I don't like it; it's not a satisfying conclusion to both her and Mark's journey.
If the show jumped the shark, than this to me is definitely the moment. Perhaps - dare I say it - this ought to ave be the series finale, minus the plane crash and Lexie's death: MerDer could have moved to Harvard, Christina to Mayo (because with Owen it's never going to work), Alex surprisingly comes out top off the bill and moves to Hoskins. Mark breaks up with Julia and proposes to Lexie. To me that actually would have been a satisfying ending, to a mostly wonderful and well-made television series. But f
