The Big Bang Theory Review: Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Fruit Loops

at . Comments

It happened! It really happened! Howard blasted into space!

And, of course, Howard and Bernadette got hitched.

Leonard & Sheldon Prepare For The Wedding

Since they got engaged, I wondered how The Big Bang Theory would pull off a big wedding. Would we finally meet Howard's mother? No way that was gonna happen. They had to get married, but how? The solution was perfect. A rush wedding on the roof of the apartment building with all their friends officiating. Bonus: Google Earth satellite overhead.

Of course, they had to try an easy civil ceremony first, if for no reason other than for Howard to try to convince someone he was an astronaut headed into space. His plea did sound absolutely ridiculous; even Penny was surprised he actually made it to space.

The ceremony itself was almost as awkward as Howard's bachelor party toasts ... almost. Nothing could top Raj's insane reveals that night; it was probably a good thing he got choked up and couldn't finish. While the officiants were less than professional in their comments, especially Sheldon's attempt at doing it in Klingon, they each honored the couple in their own loving way. Plus, those didn't even matter once Bernadette and Howard said their romantic vows. Aww....

In contrast to the happy couple, Leonard had to deal with the crew ribbing him about his proposal during sex. Penny was taking it fairly well, until Leonard's perfectly timed wedding jab. When they do end up getting married (and they will!), and even probably before, they will laugh and laugh about it.

I didn't care for the flow of the episode with Howard about to blast off and the wedding in a flashback, but that last scene of the finale made it all come together: Howard shooting into the stars, his friends left behind bonding together.

It was touching to see Bernadette and Raj share their love of Howard and hold hands. Penny, who was irritated at Leonard, took his hand. And, lastly, the normally reserved and isolated Sheldon took Amy's hand. What a heartfelt moment, then the season closed out with Sheldon saying, "Boldly go, Howard Wolowitz." Perfect.

Loved it. It was funny and sweet without being sappy. I have to admit I felt a little teary when they pulled back from the rooftop and Raj had created a heart for Google satellite. He really would have been a great party planner! Loved the hand-holding at the end too, especially Sheldon being the one to reach for Amy's hand. And I loved that she wore the tiara he gave her too.

Something that everyone has missed is the fact that the non-PhD Wolowitz is now a real astronaut.
Over the years he has had to endure ribbing about his not having a PhD from pretty much everyone except Leonard and Raj, his original friends.
Now, he has gone where none of them can go, and because of it his character's personality will be forever changed. During the courthouse scene, if he'd worn his blue flight jacket with his mission patch and his name beneath astronaut's wings he would have looked believable.
I wore a souvenir blue NASA jacket to the welcoming ceremony for Discovery at Udvar-Hazy. I was interviewed by two TV stations and one newspaper reporter. Women would walk up to me and start conversations. I thought that Howard would have loved it!
I may not have had the right stuff, but that day I had the right look.
My hat is off to the writers, producers, and actors.

What a tear worthy episode. Shamy just gets better and better each day, it's beautiful. Slowly, Sheldon's changing, evident in that hand grab of Amy. The last scene was absolutely beautiful

So I haven't seen every episode of this show so I don't know if we've ever gotten a closer look at her than this, but you can see Howard's mom sitting on the rooftop as the camera zooms out into space. She is sitting just outside the heart. I imagine that's about as close as we're likely to get to seeing her in person since Carol Ann Susi doesn't physically resemble Howard's mom and it would be pretty hard to use a different actress with the same voice. Plus, it would totally ruin the fun... :-P. Anyway, just wanted to mention that she was there...

Q'apla, Howard Wolowitz

Great episode. It might have been better if the launch parts were all together.

it was a beautiful episode overall

I really love this show. The wedding, hilarious and touching in turns, made me tear up. I loved the look of shock on Amy's face when Sheldon took her hand during the launch. I thought that Bernadette's father's comment about Howard's mother was dead-on point. Even Sheldon made a fairly normal comment to Penny during the wedding ceremony, about her being burned. He would never have had the presence of mind, the self-confidence, or the feeling of being one of the group back in the beginning of this show, to make such an apt, off-the-cuff comment. Sheldon is slowly growing. I don't think he will ever be completely normal even in his geeky social circle, but he has moved on a long way towards normalcy, whatever that is. You're right -- Leonard and Penny belong together, and any other outcome would be wrong for this show. I'm a bit sorry that Johnny and Kaley aren't together any more.... They really are cute.

Quick question. I missed it in the briefing. How much urine do these suits hold?

The uterus quivers, does it not?
