The Vampire Diaries Round Table: Pre-Finale Edition!

by at .

Welcome to a special edition of The Vampire Diaries Round Table!

With the season three finale just days away, TV Fanatic has teamed with a number of other websites and TVD fans to preview "The Departed." Who will live? Who might die? What choice will Elena make?

Joining in the discussion below are: Yours truly; Jim Halterman of JimHalterman.com; Tiffany Vogt of TVAddict.com; Sabrina Forrester; Sharie of Paul Wesley Fans; and Jayne from TV After Dark.

-------------------------------------------

Who will Elena choose?
Matt: Stefan would be a case of having been there and done that. But Stefan leaving town, if Elena selects Sexy D, would be the same. I say she plays it safe, chooses Stefan and we spend a lot of time with Damon away from Mystic Falls on Season 4.

Jim: She has to choose Damon, right? The show always paints the Elena/Stefan relationship as so sacred but you know what else it is? Boring! With Damon, there's fire and passion and you get more out of Damon as a character. Having her choose Stefan would be going backwards to the first season and I respect the show for always being smart enough to move forward even when looking to the past. The only other choice (and this would be a jump-the-shark moment) would be if she says "I choose myself." UGH!

Tiffany: Elena may be a risk taker in protecting others, but she is more cautious with her heart. So she'll go with the safe choice and choose Stefan. He is her ideal hero and he makes her feel safe. Above anything, she craves safety and stability. Damon is just too much of a risk.

Sabrina: Stefan.

Sharie: Matt, she's already admitted to stringing men along, maybe this is her longest one. Could be a Guinness world record or maybe a best seller.

Jayne: Neither of the boys. Elena recognized in "Before Sunset" how much it's worrying her what choosing between them will do to their relationship. I don't think she'll be able to break them apart like that.

Rank in order of most likely to die: 'Ric, Sheriff Forbes, Jeremy, Bon-Bon, and Matty.
Matt: Sorry, Sheriff. But you'll need to die in order to protect your now-outed daughter. Alaric is the next obvious choice, and I'll tie up the final trip in last place. Elena has gone through too much to kill off Jeremy, the team needs a witch on its side in Bonnie, and The Grill would shut down forever without Matt.

Jim: RIC: Not only could Matt Davis' pilot get picked up, but now that Ric is pure evil, they've done pretty much everything they can. And, if you follow my tweets, you know that I've been wanting this lackluster character dead since season one.
BON-BON: After Ric, she's the one we care about the most so it make sense to kill her off. Plus, nobody is every REALLY dead on The Vampire Diaries, right? (And Kat Graham REALLY just wants to sing and dance her little pop songs!)
MATTY: Would be sad but the show needs to either do something new with him (vampire, werewolf or some new creation) or put him out to pasture.
JEREMY: The funny thing is this - when Steven McQueen was gone for a handful of episodes earlier in the season, did anyone REALLY miss him? I didn't. But he's also Elena's last family member alive and the girl has been through enough so I'd be surprised if he was really killed off.
SHERIFF FORBES : Would anyone REALLY care other than Caroline? Nah....

Tiffany: Unfortunately, now that Ric has gone to the dark-side, his days are numbered and it is unlikely he is going to survive to see another season.

Sabrina: 'Ric, Matty, Sheriff Forbes, Jeremy, Bon-Bon.

Sharie: Bonnie will go first because she always gets the bad end of the friendship stick. Jeremy, Matty, Ric and Sheriff Forbes. I put those two at the end because Forbes no one would really be upset about, and Ric has died so many times we have no tears left for him.

Jayne: Sheriff Forbes, Ric, Matty, Bon-Bon, Jeremy.

More likely to appear: Katherine, Klaus or Rose?
Matt: I don't wish to spoil it, so I'll just say this Vampire Diaries clip gives away my answer.

Jim: Executive Producer Julie Plec said recently that there's no way Katherine will reappear as long as Klaus is around, so after last week's happenings, it would totally make sense for her to make another one of those shocking, 'didn't see it coming' appearances.

Tiffany: More likely to reappear is Klaus. There is no way that he is going to go gently into the night and no mere witch's spell will keep him for very long.

Sabrina: Katherine and Klaus.

Sharie: Katherine. Let's face it, when you need a full proof plan, she is the only one that delivers.

Jayne: Klaus, I think! Katherine's still boogeying outta town and I think Rose is pretty content on the Other Side. Plus, I want Joseph Morgan back. That's all I want.

Who has been the season three MVP?
Matt: Rebekah. And not just because Claire Holt looks like Claire Holt and speaks with an accent. She's also helped bring about the humanity in Klaus, expanded the Originals storyline and... okay, she looks like Claire Holt!

Jim: Klaus. While originally brought in as pure evil and the bad guy to bring down, the writers managed to give him dimension, as evidenced by his vulnerability (Mommy issues!), and they even give him a crush in Caroline that didn't come off as too mushy. Plus, Joseph Morgan surprised me with his ability to spew classic Klaus lines while also showing that - for a character who is technically dead - there's a lot of human emotion still going on with him. We'll see him again in Season 4... at least I hope we will!

Tiffany: The Season 3 MVP would have to be Joseph Morgan. Love him or hate him, he certainly spiced up the season and made it riveting to watch. Every show needs a good villain and he ROCKED as the villain we loved to hate.

Sabrina: Klaus all the way.

Sharie: Spells, Stakes and Daggers, oh my!!!

Jayne: I gotta say Caroline. She's been this fresh balance between the crazy and the mundane; keeping everyone's minds focused and still staying true to herself. Yep, she's my MVP.

Make one bold prediction regarding the finale.
Matt: Esther will actually be killed. For good. Forever. To truly never be seen again.

Jim: Ric will die (PLEASE!!!) but he'll take someone with him and I wouldn't be surprised if it was Tyler, whose death I do think would feel like a substantial loss to the show.

Tiffany: My prediction is that brother Elijah is going to make an appearance and hopefully he will help everyone with Dark Alaric. Klaus and Rebekah may have wanted to run from that harbinger of death, but Elijah is more likely to want to confront and vanquish the dark one from Mystic Falls.

Sabrina: Elena will turn into a vampire so Alaric can die. And Katherine will show up... probably.

Sharie: Elena will finally make her choice, but her choice sacrifices everything and dies. I also think the forest animals are planning an attack because Stefan is off the humans.

Jayne: Ric won't be the one to die - it'll be either the death of another Original or one of the founding moms (i.e. Liz or Carol) who will find themselves face-down in the dirt. Let's face it, to create a villain like psycho-vamp-killer Ric and simply kill him off after two episodes would be downright boring. Wouldn't it?

According to the actor who plays Jeremy he is coming back next season.I wouldn't doubt that Jeremy tries to kill Klaus or one of the brothers.Nina Dobrev said that Elena's alone when she makes her choice.I think they will make Elena into a vampire to get rid of Alaric.Seriously there is only so far they can go with Alaric at this point unless he agrees to leave the vampires of Mystic Falls alone and goes off to hunt the originals.

One of the moms could be killed off easily but they are not usually involved.I would say it could be Matt,Tyler or one of the moms.I don't really care I'm just hoping that season 4 will show some progress and stop with the whole "I don't know who I love"...I think Elena makes another deal with Elijah and that's why he says "you have to decide if you trust me"..

So... leaning on the books I predict Elena will be turned and discovers her dark side as a vapire therefore will need Damon to coach her

@Allison That "Rose" scene is one of my favorite scenes too! Thanks!

@Cris I'm not sure I totally agree with your last paragraph...I think if Elena chooses Stefan now it's because she's scared of the unknown...yes, I do think she loves Stefan, but I think she will always wonder "what if" about Damon...but, if she chooses Damon, I'm not sure Stefan would get over the whole "she knew what we had and threw it away for my brother"...I definitely could be wrong, but I would rather her pick Stefan tomorrow night than to pick Damon and go back to Stefan later...not that I want Stefan to get hurt either...ugh! I don't know! I'm torn!

Am I the only one who thinks that the whole "I'll leave town if she chooses you" stuff is made out to be a bigger deal than it actually is? Technically, Elena is a senior in high school and will leave for college very soon. Hence, one of the brothers saying that he would leave town forever seems too melodramatic. If Elena chooses Stefan, it'll be the end of the Damon/Elena storyline because of Stefan and Elena's shared history and their obvious love. However, Elena has never been in a relationship with Damon. Even if Elena gets together with Damon, she has to figure out their relationship and there is a very good chance that it might turn out to be a fiasco.

Delena will still leave the door wide open for Stelena eventually but the reverse is unimaginable. From the point of view of a writer, I'd go with Delena, since it opens up new possibilities, even if my end game is Stelena. My personal favorite is evil Alaric driving both Stefan and Damon out of town.

@Em, I agree with all your points and forgot that new vampires can remember previous compulsion...I'd LOVE that if she remembered what Damon said in her bedroom...one of my all-time FAVORITE TVD scenes! Ughhh..I kind of wish I could write for the show because I want to write it the way you discussed it, lol!

@maria: Caroline and Damon didn't want to be vampires either but they are. Just because Elena doesn't WANT to be one, doesn't mean it wouldn't be an interesting storyline....maybe even more interesting as it would be about her mourning the loss of the life she wanted. The writers wouldn't be doing anything to "Elena" if they wrote that as you can't be unfair to a fictional character.

Also, on a different note, I saw a Steven McQueen interview and he mentioned that Jeremy will be embracing his vampire hunter legacy...I think that will be a twist at season's end as well...that he kills a vampire that we love...

@Natasha...I don't think the "sire" thing works with vampires on TVD...just hybrids...

Elena has to pick Stefan because to pick Damon would be to turn her back on het friends and family who all hate him .....the big twist would be to drop them both and ask them to leave and then date Matt cuz he loves her and he nice and normal.....she would only turn to Damon if she lost her brother after losing ric!

    1. The first question,As far I have no fucks to give about the triangle of doom, Elena will likely to choose Steffy's golden dick. Although, this bitch is greedy she will want to keep them both but the Salvatores will tell her to fuck off if they still have any remaining braincells left. In my opinion this ideal in order for that braindead retard to actually feel the power of consequences from making bad choices.
    2. I really want Matt to die, he's really irrelevant and boring. he's the perfect match for elena really they're BOTH LAME and should GTFo. The only reason he's still in this show is because he is Julie Plec has a total fapping fetish for him, like Marlene King's obsession with Keegan Allen. But unfortunately, Pooh Bear is likely to die as the actor just received a leading role from a new CW show. Then, Esther will die for good, then LESBO FORWOOD will be next, I dont see why they're in show even Lily VDW has more lines than them lul. Bon Bon, I reckon they have no balls to kill her off because they cant resolve plot conflicts without her. and Germy, didn't we learn from the past 2 seasons that this boy is the new Chloe King. rofl Dont expect this walking piece of Creatine to stay dead.
    3. Obviously, since Elijah is returning that means his hot blondie brother is safe. Which means ,I got a reason to fap more than usual. I hope they keep Kol alive though. Klaus and Kol and Caroline are the only reasons I watch this show, and sometimes beckah whenever shes not used as a plot device for sexism.
4.Season 3 MVP, I don't need to spell it out loud, because my name is inspired by him. This man is a breathe of fresh air. One of the best underrated actors, I have ever watched in decades.
    5. My prediction, Elena will die from the car accident trololol and Bonnie will go dark and turn on Everybody. BonBon will be a bigger troll than Bart Bass lul. And, Caroline will need a mop this season finale lul.

    Zenda

Though i think Alaric wont die so soon. Because now he is the main villain right now.Elena said that she would not like to become a vampire but the circumstances were different, now if she becomes vampires than 2 problems can be solved

    1.Alaric will die
2.If Klaus wakes up from his sleep than he will not be able to make more hybrids.
