The Vampire Diaries Round Table: Pre-Finale Edition!

Welcome to a special edition of The Vampire Diaries Round Table!

With the season three finale just days away, TV Fanatic has teamed with a number of other websites and TVD fans to preview "The Departed." Who will live? Who might die? What choice will Elena make?

Joining in the discussion below are: Yours truly; Jim Halterman of JimHalterman.com; Tiffany Vogt of TVAddict.com; Sabrina Forrester; Sharie of Paul Wesley Fans; and Jayne from TV After Dark.

-------------------------------------------

Who will Elena choose?
Matt: Stefan would be a case of having been there and done that. But Stefan leaving town, if Elena selects Sexy D, would be the same. I say she plays it safe, chooses Stefan and we spend a lot of time with Damon away from Mystic Falls on Season 4.

Jim: She has to choose Damon, right? The show always paints the Elena/Stefan relationship as so sacred but you know what else it is? Boring! With Damon, there's fire and passion and you get more out of Damon as a character. Having her choose Stefan would be going backwards to the first season and I respect the show for always being smart enough to move forward even when looking to the past. The only other choice (and this would be a jump-the-shark moment) would be if she says "I choose myself." UGH!

Tiffany: Elena may be a risk taker in protecting others, but she is more cautious with her heart. So she'll go with the safe choice and choose Stefan. He is her ideal hero and he makes her feel safe. Above anything, she craves safety and stability. Damon is just too much of a risk.

Sabrina: Stefan.

Sharie: Matt, she's already admitted to stringing men along, maybe this is her longest one. Could be a Guinness world record or maybe a best seller.

Jayne: Neither of the boys. Elena recognized in "Before Sunset" how much it's worrying her what choosing between them will do to their relationship. I don't think she'll be able to break them apart like that.

Rank in order of most likely to die: 'Ric, Sheriff Forbes, Jeremy, Bon-Bon, and Matty.
Matt: Sorry, Sheriff. But you'll need to die in order to protect your now-outed daughter. Alaric is the next obvious choice, and I'll tie up the final trip in last place. Elena has gone through too much to kill off Jeremy, the team needs a witch on its side in Bonnie, and The Grill would shut down forever without Matt.

Jim: RIC: Not only could Matt Davis' pilot get picked up, but now that Ric is pure evil, they've done pretty much everything they can. And, if you follow my tweets, you know that I've been wanting this lackluster character dead since season one.
BON-BON: After Ric, she's the one we care about the most so it make sense to kill her off. Plus, nobody is every REALLY dead on The Vampire Diaries, right? (And Kat Graham REALLY just wants to sing and dance her little pop songs!)
MATTY: Would be sad but the show needs to either do something new with him (vampire, werewolf or some new creation) or put him out to pasture.
JEREMY: The funny thing is this - when Steven McQueen was gone for a handful of episodes earlier in the season, did anyone REALLY miss him? I didn't. But he's also Elena's last family member alive and the girl has been through enough so I'd be surprised if he was really killed off.
SHERIFF FORBES : Would anyone REALLY care other than Caroline? Nah....

Tiffany: Unfortunately, now that Ric has gone to the dark-side, his days are numbered and it is unlikely he is going to survive to see another season.

Sabrina: 'Ric, Matty, Sheriff Forbes, Jeremy, Bon-Bon.

Sharie: Bonnie will go first because she always gets the bad end of the friendship stick. Jeremy, Matty, Ric and Sheriff Forbes. I put those two at the end because Forbes no one would really be upset about, and Ric has died so many times we have no tears left for him.

Jayne: Sheriff Forbes, Ric, Matty, Bon-Bon, Jeremy.

More likely to appear: Katherine, Klaus or Rose?
Matt: I don't wish to spoil it, so I'll just say this Vampire Diaries clip gives away my answer.

Jim: Executive Producer Julie Plec said recently that there's no way Katherine will reappear as long as Klaus is around, so after last week's happenings, it would totally make sense for her to make another one of those shocking, 'didn't see it coming' appearances.

Tiffany: More likely to reappear is Klaus. There is no way that he is going to go gently into the night and no mere witch's spell will keep him for very long.

Sabrina: Katherine and Klaus.

Sharie: Katherine. Let's face it, when you need a full proof plan, she is the only one that delivers.

Jayne: Klaus, I think! Katherine's still boogeying outta town and I think Rose is pretty content on the Other Side. Plus, I want Joseph Morgan back. That's all I want.

Who has been the season three MVP?
Matt: Rebekah. And not just because Claire Holt looks like Claire Holt and speaks with an accent. She's also helped bring about the humanity in Klaus, expanded the Originals storyline and... okay, she looks like Claire Holt!

Jim: Klaus. While originally brought in as pure evil and the bad guy to bring down, the writers managed to give him dimension, as evidenced by his vulnerability (Mommy issues!), and they even give him a crush in Caroline that didn't come off as too mushy. Plus, Joseph Morgan surprised me with his ability to spew classic Klaus lines while also showing that - for a character who is technically dead - there's a lot of human emotion still going on with him. We'll see him again in Season 4... at least I hope we will!

Tiffany: The Season 3 MVP would have to be Joseph Morgan. Love him or hate him, he certainly spiced up the season and made it riveting to watch. Every show needs a good villain and he ROCKED as the villain we loved to hate.

Sabrina: Klaus all the way.

Sharie: Spells, Stakes and Daggers, oh my!!!

Jayne: I gotta say Caroline. She's been this fresh balance between the crazy and the mundane; keeping everyone's minds focused and still staying true to herself. Yep, she's my MVP.

Make one bold prediction regarding the finale.
Matt: Esther will actually be killed. For good. Forever. To truly never be seen again.

Jim: Ric will die (PLEASE!!!) but he'll take someone with him and I wouldn't be surprised if it was Tyler, whose death I do think would feel like a substantial loss to the show.

Tiffany: My prediction is that brother Elijah is going to make an appearance and hopefully he will help everyone with Dark Alaric. Klaus and Rebekah may have wanted to run from that harbinger of death, but Elijah is more likely to want to confront and vanquish the dark one from Mystic Falls.

Sabrina: Elena will turn into a vampire so Alaric can die. And Katherine will show up... probably.

Sharie: Elena will finally make her choice, but her choice sacrifices everything and dies. I also think the forest animals are planning an attack because Stefan is off the humans.

Jayne: Ric won't be the one to die - it'll be either the death of another Original or one of the founding moms (i.e. Liz or Carol) who will find themselves face-down in the dirt. Let's face it, to create a villain like psycho-vamp-killer Ric and simply kill him off after two episodes would be downright boring. Wouldn't it?

Vampire Diaries Quotes

Oooh, you know I don't know. Every time we try and go on a date you get kidnapped, I get sent to a prison world, or your feelings get compelled away...

Damon

Damon: My new girlfriend. Andie Starr. Action News.
Alaric: It's not called Action News.
Damon: I know. I like just saying it.
