NCIS to Explore Love ... in an Elevator?

at . Comments

It was no accident that fan favorites Tony and Ziva ended up in an elevator at the tail end of NCIS Season 9 ... which makes sense, considering that most people take the stairs during an evacuation.

Where does that leave them when we pick up next fall, in the aftermath of the explosion that destroyed the agency's headquarters? Show-runner Gary Glasberg weighed in on that with TV Guide.

"We'll pick up with them in that elevator and, with the situation that they're in, there will be some conversations," he says. "Hopefully we'll scratch our way a little bit deeper into the relationship."

How's that for ambiguity? Read into it however you like. Time will tell if it serves as an actual turning point for the "couple," but either way, those are guaranteed to be must-watch scenes.

Anthony and Ziva

Tony and Ziva aren't the only ones in precarious positions after the end of "Til Death Do Us Part."

As for whether the team will end up with new digs after the bombing, that's unclear, but the emotional cleanup of the team will be more significant than the physical rubble, Glasberg says.

"There are psychological ramifications that will carry over," he says, in particular Ducky's heart attack.

"How will that affect his character as a medical examiner and his long-held approach to dealing with the dead? How might it change him and the way he views things?"

We welcome your theories on that in the comments below. Follow the link for more NCIS Season 10 spoilers, and tell us how you think things will shake out with Ducky, Tony, Ziva and everyone else ...

Many people think Ziva was brought on to replace Kate but my feelings is she was brought on to replace Tony because they took all of Tony skill away and gave them to Ziva

The way Abby was originally conceived was different than Abby now. I like PP so much, that I still enjoy her character, but you are absolutely right IMO about the recent (since around season 6 on) writing for her. Many of the characters became over simplified, one dimensional caricatures of DPB's creations when Shane Brennan took over in season 5. Tony is barely recognizable now from his original character. He used to be cool, dangerous, competent, and was often featured as a heroic brilliant agent. Now only Gibbs and Ziva are given flattering writing or portrayed as exceptionally good agents. It's a shame tptb tossed Tony under the bus to highlight Ziva's skills but that's what they did. Tiva - isn't Ziva. It's a made up name implying romantic feelings between Tony and Ziva. Some fans see it, others - not so much. As the letters imply - it's mostly about Ziva.

Who is TIVA??? I assume everyone is talking about ZIVA. Anyway, does anyone else think it might be time for Abby to grow up a little? Ms. Perrette is 43 years old! How can Abby be such a great scientist with her working all hours; shouldn't she be taking more courses, attending seminars and conferences and learing the latest in technology? And her and Tim clacking on the keyboard - now that's not realistic. And her baby act with Gibbs - yow!!. After nine seasons, Abby needs to mature.

Oh we are going down the Tiva road, thankfully. I can't wait for it. It does not mean that it will be out there for us to 'see' , not just yet -- but in the end, it will be Gibbs that smacks them both and tells them, hey you MORONS get on with it! This will be the season of Ducky and Jimmy..changing dynamics and back to the core of the plot, not so much the characters.. which may be a good thing. I do , however, think it is time to close the shop sooner or later. And trust me, I adore my NCIS, I am a full blown 10 year addict and proud of it.. but it's time.

Just read that MW, PP, and SM signed two year deals. All our favorites are back!

I've been thinking about this a lot, who's rules are we talking about here, are they Gibbs rules or are they actually in the NCIS rules and regulation hand book, when Tony joined Ncis he must of signed a contract excepting all rules and regulations set out in the hand book, but we all know that Gibbs rules 1-51 are his own rules, I wonder what would happen if any one took Gibbs to court about his rules if he would win or lose, I think Gibbs rules would be chucked out of court for been unfair, especially rule 12.

I roo think if tptb actually give us tiva, there will be enormous squeeing and I told you so ing initially, but after a few episodes the show will have changed so much that fans who didn't want it will have left in disgust. Fans who got what they wanted will get bored, as the burning question has been answered and move on as well. How many hot steamy scenes and candle light dinners can NCIS sustain and still be NICS? How many jealousy scenes or lover spats will be interesting or funny? And I'm still not buying the Rule 12 was rendered impotent by EJ. They WERE'NT on the same team. Tony and Ziva are. JMO

Let say they do put Ziva and Tony together what do you think going to happen The Shipper are going to stop watching and go on to a other show and the NCIS fans will be stuck with a onces great Crime show

Let's go down the road of Tiva...perhaps not the genre of NCIS. Who's the Boss, Moonlighting, Cheers, CSI, and House. These are only some TV shows that changed drastically after a romantic entanglement. Most dropped to dismal ratings and the essential characters changed the tone of the series.

Michael, I hate to bring it to you but NCIS has always been focusing on character. Haven't you notice "Gibbs"? Everything else is a direct consequence of the "glue". If you look at other shows, similar or not, they do seem to have rather similar plots, it's "one thing" and things around "it". So let us hope that they will survive with some minor scratches and broken left hand for Gibbs. Tony and Ziva should finally exchange bodily fluids and make little super trained copies of them. Of coarse Gibbs will track Ryan down and most likely kill her ex. and so on and on....

NCIS Quotes

Tony: One other question, I know you're an expert in English history. And I was just wondering, have you ever heard of Archibald Drummond, the 17th Earl of Trent?
Ducky: The Earl of Trent. No, I can't say I have. Why?
Tony: I was just wondering. Thanks.

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.
