With clear eyes and a full heart, Grey's Anatomy can't lose in this casting selection.

In news first broken by TV Line, former Friday Night Lights star Gaius Charles has been cast on Grey's Anatomy Season 9.

Very few details have been released regarding his exact role, but it's expected that Charles will portray a new doctor at Seattle Grace.

Charles starred as running back Smash Williams on the aforementioned NBC drama, and has more recently appeared on episodes of Pan Am, NCIS and Necessary Roughness.

It's safe to assume for now that the actor will fill the role of Dr. Mel Barnett, described in casting notes as a young surgeon. Grey's Anatomy is also seeking an older actor of actress to come on board as Dr. Parker, outlined by the network as an "elite" physician.
