This week's The Secret Life of the American Teenager was all about "Girlfriends."Not the kind you date, the kind you bond with, share gossip with and spill your feelings to.

Amy encouraged Kathy to make some pals outside of Ethan. Making friends isn't always the easiest task, but Kathy did pretty well for herself. They may not be the nicest girls, but, hey, teenagers can be sassy. C'est la vie!

Was this episode so "friend" heavy because normal Secret Life is all about raging hormones and sex? Maybe Brenda Hampton and the writers got the memo that they drop the word "sex" about 50 times an episode? And when that got tired they subbed in the word "gay." Maybe they thought they'd go back to basics and just explore "friends."

I'm actually interested in them delving into other friendships on this show. For years it was just Amy, Lauren and Madison who have been terrible friends to each other. You all know how I feel about them, especially Madison. If Grace and Amy might end up as sisters, I see no reason why they shouldn't get to know each other. Adrian also deserves some slack from Grace. Grace is fickle and nuts but deep down she always tries to be a good person.

I can't say the same for her boyfriend Jack, but honestly he is just being a horny dude. Didn't you guys just know that the second Clementine said she had a meaningless fling with a jock that it had to be Jack? He was jonesing for her the second he laid eyes on her! Besides, he's not getting sex from Grace and they weren't back together. The guy is at college, can't say I'm surprised. He was thinking with his... other head.

Speaking of sex and love crazy guys, Ben just keeps digging himself into a deeper and deeper hole. Poor guy, I felt sorry for him at first, but Henry gets my sympathy vote this week. Now he's getting dragged into the circle with Dylan? Oyy. Well, with Alice admitting she slept with Ben, all bets are off. Can we please just see less of Dylan's parents? 

Mindy Cohn went from a famous role on The Facts of Life, to Brangelina's kids' Godmother, to The Secret Life of the American Teenager? Doesn't add up. I know I gave this episode four stars because, despite the fact that I think the show overall is crap, I have grown to care about certain characters and really did enjoy the new bonds formed tonight. 

A couple of things I really enjoyed:

1. Grace saying she always wanted a sister, and Amy saying she always wanted a nice sister. I totally feel you girl. Click for more The Secret Life of the American Teenager quotes. 
2. Ricky drew all the coordinating sexual bases with the actual bases on the baseball field. Glad to hear there was some funny stuff in Ricky's difficult childhood.
3. Grace instantly knowing that Jack slept with Clementine, because he is that obvious.
4.  The bond forming between Ethan and Kathy. I misjudged Ethan when we first met him.
