Daniel Sunjata is the latest actor to join a revamped Smash Season 2.

The former Rescue Me star, who recently recurred on Grey's Anatomy and also played a role this summer in The Dark Knight Rises, will appear on multiple episodes of the NBC drama as a love interest for Debra Messing's Julia.

EW first reported this Smash casting news.

Julia ended last season seemingly reconciled with husband Frank, but Brian D'Arcy James is one of several actors who will not return for Season 2.

In his place, the series has cast such big names as Jeremy Jordan and Jennifer Hudson.

Smash will return to NBC with new episodes in early 2013.
