Joss Whedon Signs Deal for Live-Action Marvel Series

by at . Comments

Joss Whedon may now be responsible for one of the biggest movies in the history of the universe, but the writer/director/cult hero is not leaving the world of television behind:

He has signed a deal with ABC to develop a live-action series. set within the world of Marvel.

Joss Whedon The Avengers

Details of what this program will entail are unknown beyond the statement from Marvel Studios, but here is what it reads:

Whedon will write and direct Marvel’s The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe.

Speculation will now run wild over just which characters might appear in Whedon's show, with the following properties already being bantered about by fans online: She-Hulk, Heroes For Hire, Black Panther, Runaways.

I'll be honest: this is not my area of expertise. So sound off now with the Marvel title/hero/group you most want to see brought to the small screen.

Luke Cage and Iron Fist anyone? A Heroes for Hire series would be right up Joss Whedon's alley, simply because the storyline for these comics fit better with a Tv series "case of the week" like format as opposed to a full length movie because characters such as Luke and Fist aren't as mainstream as Hulk and Iron Man,but don't get me wrong though the Marvel Fandom has been urging Marvel Studios to create a Luke Cage Movie for quite sometime..maybe this would be a better alternative.

X-Men! Will be the best for a small screen..

Well considering what was said at Comic Con this year ,"phase 2" as they call it at Marvel will be,Thor: Dark World, Captain America: Winter Soldier then finally Guardians of The Galaxy which will most likely tie into the Avengers2 storyline. Also Edgar Wright is in the early stages of his long awaited Ant-man project witch could also be canon for A2 since Ant-man is one of the founding members of the Avengers,he and his wife Wasp. I'm oblivious to what he could be developing as a Tv series for Marvel ,their Universe and material is so vast it really could be anything

I would be down for X-Men live action done right. Cause the reason why that abomination sucked is because Jean Grey/Cyclops storyline was out on the backburner to let Wolverine shine. Cyclops is the most important character during the Dark Phoenix saga other than Jean Grey.

Yeah I'm excited but pretty sure that the tv series will be about one of the lesser known marvel heroes. I wish he would re do the fantastic four. That could be interesting.
