NCIS Show-Runner Hints at Tiva Taking Things "Further"

by at . Comments

It looks like Tiva worshippers may finally get their wish ... or at least come closer to it.

NCIS executive producer Gary Glasberg tells TV Guide that we may see things progress to a new level between Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) in Season 10.

One way or another, post-bombing trauma may bring the duo closer than ever.

Anthony and Ziva

"The elevator scenes are so good," Glasberg says of the opening episode, which finds them trapped after Richard Schiff's Harper Dearing detonated a car bomb outside NCIS HQ.

"[Tony and Ziva] can't help but be affected by this in a certain way, and they will continue to reach out to each other because of the connection they have as friends and as coworkers."

"There are definitely 'moments.' I'd like to take things a little further along than we have [in the past]."

What do you think those moments will consist of? Or should consist of? Do you want one of TV's most buzzed-about will-they-or-won't-they couples to finally go there?

Sound off on all things Tony, Ziva and NCIS in the comments below ...

Agree with the Michael post from Aug. 9th 12:08 p.m. The current Tony would be unrecognizable as the Tony created by DPB were it not for the fact that MW is still playing a character named Tony DiNozzo. He sadly, truly has become the T of tiva. Admiring and being inferior to Ziva now seems to be the only dramatic value he is allowed to contribute to the show. His almost weekly self humiliation falls under the heading of being inferior to Ziva. The mid life crisis crap seemed an after thought to explain the destruction of and drastic change in the writing of his character once SB took over. But Michael is right. So many of his scenes are painful to watch and he's my favorite character. I feel so bad for MW. The formulaic writing is so predictable now. Perfect Ziva and Gibbs and out done, out smarted, out skilled Tony watching the shows Mary Sues save the day.

@ SAM Michael is right just last year on Regis and Kelly and TV guide Mark and Michael Weatherly have said Tiva would be a bad idea but NO WHERE have I see the crap that you have said because if that was true then they would of not of gotten him NCIS LA so you are wrong. Anyways all you have to do is talk to Lauren Holly and she still does not know why the showrunner change hands other then it having to do with Tiva.

Michael, Harmon has had positive things to say about Tiva and MW has said that he will do whatever the writers and producers tell him, even if that includes Tony being paired with Ziva. Your response clearly indicates you have no evidence to back up what you said. As for what I posted, there have been a number of stories on the subject, in TV Guide, EW magazine, numerous other magazines and newspapers. Should you ever come up with any "evidence", please feel free to post it here. I'm sure we would all enjoy reading it.

Don't you think you should take your own adivces yours does not make any sense mine does since both Michael and Mark have said they do not like Office romances.
Now back to the Topic As we all predicted as soon as the Tiva nonsense started taking off in S6, all Tony is now is the T in Tiva. He's become an excruciatingly dull character to watch, alternately moaning to Gibbs in his basement about his lack of a family or listening to the guest star of the week telling him he and Ziva make such a great couple. Barf. I no longer even recognize him.

Michael, there has never been any other reason given for DPB's leaving, other than the one I posted last night. Certainly Tiva has never been the reason given; how could it be? While it was becoming crystal clear, especially in the S4 SF "Angel Of Death", that Ziva was developing feelings for Tony, the primary focus had been Tony falling for Jeanne, who turned out to be the daughter of the target of his investigation? If you can present credible evidence otherwise, do so. Name your sources. We'd love to read about it and investigate it ourselves.

@SAM That maybe some of the reason but not all

Michael, DPB was let go by CBS because towards the end of the 4th season, the hours for filming the episodes were getting longer and longer, with scripts being revised not just at the last minute, but at the last second. The entire cast was complaining about it, and so Mark Harmon went to bat for them on it. It has been said that he basically gave the network an ultimatum: me or DPB. Whether he put it that way or not, the network elected to solve the problem getting rid of DPB. Tiva had nothing to do with it, but the disjointed storyline involving "The Frog" certainly did. And Jeanne was very much part of that storyline.

NCIS Quotes

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.

Tony: You know the "Men" in "Men's Room" is more of a rule than a suggestion, probie.
Bishop: Look, you two always get to go off giggling to the urinal together and I always get left out. So we're going to talk and we're going to do it here.
