watch the episode again when liz is explaining what happen to damon and alaric she flat out says that merdith shot him then heeled him with vampire blood she isnt supernatural
i want to hear a scoop about how things are going to be around town because before alaric died he dropped a bomb with about everything that is going on around town i havent heard anybody talk about how that is going to start affecting everything
i hate we need to wait an extre month for the show to come back summer break sucks

or how eastern european vampires suddenly become vikings who...somehow ended up settling in....in california....on the FRIGGIN OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE American continents than Europe is.
or how Elena's outright stated "i was out at the party without permission, got drunk made a huge scene and my parents had to get me back thus they died and i feel guilt" suddenly turned into a planned innocent school party.
Or how Katherine - the every-knowledgeable Klaus evader somehow decided to SETTLE IN in mystic falls all those years ago.
Plot Coherence - this show has none.

The show already DIRECTLY contradicts itself in some MAJOR shit
Like when Damon asked Liz to dig into Alaric's past in season 1 and she only found parking tickets? And she's a cop. But when Meredith pokes into it, she finds violence, restraining orders and some time in jail. Girl's got skills.
she shot Alaric, and he came back. Which means she's supernatural, so she's already in it.
watch it be retconed when writers write themselves into a corner again. The show already DIRECTLY contradicts itself in some MAJOR shit like Elena's own backstory(are we supposed to believe that Elena elena has a memory span of a hamster,so she does not even remember her own backstory correctly?) , Plec will most likely be banking on everyone having forgotten the shooting and will present some outrageously stupid explanation for that event that contradicts itself.
Even Bonnie's cousin who appeared in total of one episode and was there ENTIRELY for the sake of being a plot device, was more interesting than Melissa.

Meredith was never meant to be a major character, maybe they will explore her character later on, maybe they won't.
Just because a character isn't getting explored, that doesn't mean he/she shouldn't be interesting. Right now, Meredith is anything but. She's a doctor, she had a crush on Alaric and she's a crappy doctor. That doesn't make her interesting. We know nothing about her as a person. As for the 'getting sucked into the supernatural' thing - she shot Alaric, and he came back. Which means she's supernatural, so she's already in it. Besides, she attacked vampires in her office and took their blood. Can't exactly start complaining about how she never wanted a part in any of this then.
Really don't want to diss Paul Wesley's wife, but.....good acting, very bad character developing. loved her in the books as Elena's bff and half vampire.

Yes borednow find a show you won't bash in every comment. If there was any show that was ruined it was THE SECRET CIRCLE! The Vampire Diaries books are boring and infantile. I am a book lover. I read about 2 books a week. And those books are not as good as the secret circle or nightworld books.
The TV series is WAY better. No show is perfect, not one single show!!! But this show has been amazing. Its given the audience sex, intrigue, romance, a healthy dose of shockers. Maybe lately things have been yawn. But I'm not about to bitch about it in EVERY single post and act like I could make this show a 100 times better cuz I can't and NIETHER can you.
Meredith was never meant to be a major character, maybe they will explore her character later on, maybe they won't. Who knows? Just STFU and watch or don't watch but just STFU cuz your negative comments on TVFanatic are not gonna help make the show how you want it be.

They need to trim the fat. I wasn't interested in Meredith as a character when she came in and I probably won't be come the Fall. There are already enough characters to show and balance out and as much as I like TVD, they don't always do a great job of developing most of its characters. It only becomes kore problematic when they keep bringing more characters into the fold for extended periods of time.
Sometimes I'm not really interested in Meredith Fell but as long as she's a helpful doctor,then I don't think of her as a distraction in the show. I can't wait for season 4. =]

Not really interested in Meredith either, and I have to agree with Annie and Bored now. Elijah was the last newly introduced character that I actually cared about, but instead, the writers chose to focus on Klaus and Rebeccah.
I'm still hoping that we'll get better stories for Stefan, Bonnie, Tyler and Jeremy the next season, but if they keep introducing new characters, that's not going to happen.
And yeah what show REALLY lacks is:
1) lasting consequences of ANY kind. As it is now, nothing really matters. you could cut out the entire S2 and S3 and have Elena turn in the end of S1 and NOTHING would change in the show. Nothing that ever happens has any lasting consequences.
2)lack of any sort of moral compass or moral dilemmas - the show logic in no way resembles earth logic. Everything is justificable for those "characters" as long as its for elena and none of reactions and decisions really make sense nor match up to the events at hand.
To be honest, the last "new" character I actually cared about that was introduced on TVD was Elijah back in season 2.
THIS SO MUCH.
It was the only character introduced in S2 that I liked. everyone else in s2 and s3 were...disposable and bland plot devices. hell the show even was awfully fast to throw S1 recurring characters under the bus to hype up S2 too...

@Annie. I agree with you 100%. This show seems to be all about "over compensating" for Elena and Damon and they totally forget about the other very real characters that surround them. Even Stefan, as you rightly pointed out, has no plotline of his own. Yet he's one of the big 3. His rippah phase was so badly developed that I think they just abandoned it half way through the season. They absolutely refuse to develop the ones we care about...like Bonnie, Jeremy, Tyler etc. EVERYTHING IS ABOUT THE SACRIFICIAL BRUNETTE!!!! While they leave the others to rot. I mean who the HELL cares about Meredith??? REALLY

To be honest, the last "new" character I actually cared about that was introduced on TVD was Elijah back in season 2. I've had some sympathetic moments with Rebekah and Klaus, but otherwise haven't been able to bring myself to care about any of the characters that were brought in after Elijah. So obviously, I honestly don't care what happens to Meredith at all. I want the show to focus on its main characters and main supporting characters more. Give Jeremy and Caroline and Tyler and even Stefan better plotlines for once. Many of them are sadly underdeveloped, and I care much more about them than any guest star or recurring character that will be killed in 3 episodes. I mean honestly, what happened to Stefan's "crazed ripper" plotline? That lasted less than a quarter of the season and was just swept under the rug with no consequences. What even.
THis show has shown again and again that the writers have no idea how to write female characters and all the plotlines they ever get are romance stuff or supportive roles. I guess expecting Meredith to be anything interesting was too much :P

And some people called the TVD books boring...in what universe do you have to live to care about tv Meredith....why? how? she is a useless character 0 we know nothing about her to care for her...I care more about Kol, a character which was like in 2 episodes yet made me care more about him than Meredith could over the half of season 3's episodes she was in.
