@Andrea, that's exactly my thoughts too. From the first talk Steve and his mother had, I was waiting for her to say that she was Wo Fat's mother.

SO glad they are back!
Yeah the escape scene was a bit over the top - someone give Catherine a cheeseburger (skinny skinny legs) - Steve looks great & he's got a half brother who is gonna cause problems at the Thanksgiving table - Mom is bad news all around - Poor Chin ;o( - Yay Adam! - Yay Adam & Kono! - Very funny car-gu-ment - Danno's Evil Woman for Rachel ringtone lol!

the show has "Jumped the shark" for me.
If you don't know what that means google it.

Andrea, we were thinking the exact same thing. Doris is both Wo Fat and Steve's Mother. That's the only reason we can think that she would let him go instead of shooting him.

"What are you talking about George. Aren't Chin Ho & Kono Asian?"
I said the day they jettison Kono. I fear they have been trying to whitewash the show since last year and the Laurie Wetson character did not work out. Let us see what happens this year. As far as Malia is concerned, she is still an Asian-American woman who did not get much of a role. In fact, she completely disappeared for a while after her December wedding, and then re-appeared very briefly and then get murdered. Does not seem like a show that is too enthused about giving more than one or two Asians much of a role even in a place like Hawaii. As I said, if they want a mostly white show they need to base it in Wisconsin, Massachusetts, or if they want a nice climate, how about San Diego, California? Some lack of creativity too. They should have somewhow shown that the Laurie and Malia (with exactly the last surname) were related...perhaps at the wedding last December. Now both the Wetsons are gone. Did not see an

Huge fan of the show, however, this episode was not as good as previous ones. The helicopter scene was pure crap. An the cheesy "he's your brother nonsense" is really going to kill the momentum of the season.

I love Kono, she my favorite character.
She went all McGarrett on bad guy ass lol!!
I didn't care for the Mama/Steve storyline I didn't want to see it or why did bring Cath to the team, to me she is the new Lori 2.0 I don't care about those two newbies. I feel this season the show is all about Steve, its leaning toward to the Steve show.

Great to have the show back. It was a long summer. If the opener is any indication this season should be great. The only miss was the helicopter snatch of the armored car. Yes it was right out of James Bond - "License to Kill" and "You Only Live Twice" to be exact. Why did they drop it 40 to 50 feet into the water. The fall would have killed or seriously injured anyone inside. Why not gently lower it to the surface? Also Max sure made a quick recovery.

Overall, I thought the premiere was very good. Both Alex and Christine were good in their scenes together. Alex conveyed his pain and confusion so well. I bawled my eyes out at Chin Ho's sad scene in the kitchen. They've really created a steep mountain for him to climb this season.
I thought the Wo Fat escape with the helicopter was a bit too James Bond, but so what? Very cinematic.
Why did Doris let Wo Fat escape? Please writers, don't make Steve and Wo Fat brothers. That would be too much.

@George, I agree completely. It's a show based in Hawaii, it's about time they started showing that.

"On the Kono issue, she's my favourite character and I was glad that she survived."
The day she departs and they white wash the show, I stop watching unless she is replaced by another Asian...it is Hawaii for goodness sakes. If they want to white-wash, they need to move the show to the shores of Lake Superior in Wisconsin or Hilton Head Beach in SC!

Malia Weston (Chin Ho's TV wife) was the token Asian-American. I think I saw her once since their "marriage" last Christmas. Actually, they showed more of Lori Weston (the white female) than Mali Weston (the Asian female) last season. Wonder who the next token Asian would be..I am certain there will be one!

The Steve/Danny/Doris Cargument might be my favourite one yet, Doris's just as witty and sarcastic as Danny. Though I have a feeling that she brings nothing but trouble but she's steve's mum and in the end you would try to help your mum no matter what right?
On the Kono issue, she's my favourite character and I was glad that she survived. I really felt for Chin though, but I think he made the right choice, kind of. Between Kono's physical abilities and her basically being born in the water, I think she had a better chance of surviving. Overall it was an excellent episode.
