I agree with David...It was lame..I was hoping for more..

  2. David Francis

Very lame. Agent contacts the bomber outside a store and does not arrest him. Takes him to a room and lets him go to the restroom without anyone outside surrounding the house or apartment. Then Gibbs knifes him at the end. A totally waste of time and very lame.

I, loved it. Some great reviews here too, that had similar thoughts to me.I would have liked to have seen more of Dearing and got a handle on how his grief could have sent him to that much revenge, unlike Gibbs reaction, who killed the one's responsible. With That in mind once again Mark Harmons acting was brillant there at the end, when dearing compared himself to him... Gibbs character's unspoken declaration at each of the villians comparison... I'm nothing like you.
Like Ncisfeedback, I too would like to see them all in the same room. Can't wait for next week.

In earlier seasons, the character development was more important than the story line. Now the story seems to be more important than the character development. In the past few years, rarely do you see ALL team members together in one scene (all of them in Abby's lab, all in Ducky's lab, or all of them in the evidence garage) as they were especially in the first few seasons. This gave more dynamic conversations and character development. Now we just see Gibbs and Abby, or Gibbs and Ducky, or Abby and Ducky, or Gibbs and McGee. Can't have much banter like that. It was so much FUN to watch before. It takes more time and effort to write everyone into a scene and to direct all of it, but he product was much, much more enjoyable before.

It's so good to have NCIS back. Every episode can't be full blown action packed. I especially liked the tender moments with Palmer and Ducky. This program is special because of the character relationships and of course the story lines too. I too prefer the one story episodes over the ones like this that go for weeks so hopefully the writers will go back to these most of the time. NCIS is still the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved it. I've yet to see an episode I didn't like, but then I just love NCIS. I love the characters and am looking forward to the rest of the season.

Another incredible show. It contained a moment that will go down in ncis history - the final moment of Gibbs facing off against a guy he knows wants to kill him & has tried to kill his entire team. The tension, the camera work, the slow unhurried pace - all done to perfection. And we remember for a moment that Gibbs is a killer. A trained assassian. We love Gibbs but there is a part of him that faces death, sees death and kills others. With a calm intensity he is ready to die, accepts the danger & that he might fail but at the same time he is ready to kill those that need to be killed.

Loved it. NCIS is an all time favorite and I can't wait until next Tuesday.
The cast is absolutely fantastic! Mark Harmon is great and the family around him.

Complain all you want, this show was still great and glad to see Ducky's assistant finally got into the opening credits.
The thing that got to me the most was how Jethro Gibbs went in alone to see the killer face to face, followed him knowing the guy was probably going to try and kill him, guy turns his back, Jethro sees the gun on the window sill and calmy pulls out a knife and stabs the murderer in the gut when the man turns around without so much as a flinch. God I love Mark Harmon and his character.

Have to admit I was a little disappointed with this episode. It seemed almost trite - everything tied up in neat package with a bow by the end. The elevator scene wit Tony and Ziva is really disappointed. I didn't need a kiss or proclamations of love but sure we could have gotten at least a couple more meaningful glances. The writing seemed kinda lazy on this on. Lets hope it picks up in coming episodes.

Never have we had to wait so long for such a so-so payoff on NCIS. Maybe it's time for the writers to go back to the one story=one episode format. I would love that since I'm old and my attention span is shrinking daily...

I was sure that making us all wait four episodes + SUMMER for the climax to this story would produce amazing fireworks...but if you blinked you could have missed this "climax." What a waste of the Gibbs machine! It's frustrating, because I love everybody as actors and as characters and they deserve the best material possible...

Kudos to David McCallum for doing a superb job playing the heart attack and the accompanying anxiety and befuddlement...a lovely job of work, as the Brits say. It's always nice to see a character we know so well thrown a major curve ball and he did a wonderful job with it.

I agree with those who say the episode felt flat, and that some of the plot was outright stupid. Why would the FBI keep sending 'canaries' into close quarters to arrest a known bomb-maker?? Then, Gibbs did the same DA*N thing at the end. Obviously by that point, Dearing was ready for death by Gibbs--why not do it in a blaze of glory? Unbelievable that Gibbs would take such personal risk when there are much safer ways to accomplish the goal. Total misuse of Gibbs' talent as a sniper. Also, given the size of the blast at NCIS HQ, I agree with those who say the team should be hurt worse.

Not the most exciting episode. I, too, felt it was a bit flat. One reason was the fact that it wasn't a 'team' episode. There were very few scenes of the team even working together, let alone talking together. Few Tony scenes usually equates to an episode that's lacking in zing. I had high hopes for the Tony/Ziva elevator scenes, not as a Tiva-thing but because I love their rapport, but I felt that part wasn't especially well written. I think part of the problem was the writer/director lost the impact of the team worried for each other. Their survival was very predictable and almost mundane. And did anyone seem worried about Ducky? He has a major heart attack and it almost goes unnoticed by everyone. Hmmm, while I adore NCIS, I felt this episode didn't quite come together as it should have. Perhaps they should have made it a two-parter so that they could spend time on the characters' reactions. After all these months of waiting, I want to see the whole team - not a Gibbs/Vance episode

  16. patricia

I thought the episode was pretty tame compared to the teasers. It seems to me the writers are right back at making sure Tony is either useless, or only used to flatter Ziva or Gibbs. Ziva seems to have officially replaced Tony as SFA. First we had Gibbs confirming that Ziva and not Tony was right, then he had her to call Fornell, and it was Ziva who was written to show concern about Gibbs going alone. Oh and of course she got the scene with Abby. Was Tony's only purpose to brush Ziva's hair out of her face, be comically stinky, and enjoy her mighty thighs? Sad! Gibbs completely ignored Tony when he tried to talk to him. Seems like Tony has been reduced to being just the t of tiva now. Not sure I can stick around much longer. It's painful to see your favorite character diminished to near insignificance week after week, while a lesser character is constantly pushed to the front.

Well, for those of you who enjoyed all the different viewpoints, moments and very deserved dispatching of Dearing, I agree-one of the best season openers! Jimmy's talking to himself and the body, Abby's fear of autopsy reasserting itself, Gibbs' expression when he saw Dearing's pictures of his 'family", and the look on McGee's face when he realized he was hurt...wow! I look forward to the next episodes to see how each member of the team deals. As for you who were disappointed and/or decided to become trolls don't let the door slam on your keisters!

@MCAL... in the scene where Tony & Ziva were getting out of the elevator, Abby recited a list of people she'd want to be stuck in an elevator with and among them was Mrs. Obama. And from twitter feeds, it was by design.

    To:{mcal} I totally with you.
To:{anon} then I guess we won't hear anything from you anymore, since you said you are done.
To: {shoegal} Gibbs will always look good better with age
I saw him on a program 1986 something about school he is mouth watering he was a teacher.
My favorite man is TONY I love his sence of humor and he is good looking has well. I love NCIS and I love how Gibbs
Showed no emotions. I will never get tired of NCIS. Do not
Like NCIS LA. Glad no one died and they are still a family

  20. MCAL

@Anon Sorry, but I have to call this out. Since when in this episode did Michelle Obama have any presence. Did I miss it?

  21. linda a.

    I loved the season premire!
Can`t say enough about the cast especially Mark Harmon
One question, who is the actor that played Deering?
Me and My husband would love to meet the cast some day
    Thanks

I loved the show this week. The one thing I didn't like was the McGee thing. He was blown up, flying glass every where . For him to have a piece of shrapnel which only took a couple of stitches was absurd. The fact that he came back to work so soon baffled me. I hope his story line in coming episodes will allow him to act not just sit there. It's not fair to Sean or McGee!

  23. Anon

Sorry, when the liberal directors have to interpose Michelle Obama into the series (seems that they just can't stand to leave out their liberal politics), I'm done!

  24. Guest

After being so excited for this season to start, I too was a bit disappointed. Glad all are back but it seemed rushed and "flat". Gibbs killing Dearing with a knife was different as a sniper is used to the remote kill, not the up close and personal. Just was no wear as good as the episode where they rescue Ziva, which by far is the best episode of the series. It could have been a movie!

  25. Charlie

I used to really enjoy this show, until last night!

First and foremost, do we really need to recreate 911 like story lines. Aren't the writers capable of using some real "creative storytelling" to make scripts interesting?

Are we to believe that Deering is able to infiltrate and set explosives in the most secure locations without being seen but decides to just go home where only one man "Gibbs" has thought to look for him?

The writing,on this episode, was a joke. If it stays the same, this once well written show will finally have "jumped the shark"!!
