Gossip Girl Round Table: Pre-Season 6 Edition!

at .

Welcome back, once again, to TV Fanatic's Gossip Girl Round Table discussion! Below, in a special pre-season edition, our panelists are here to break down the upcoming swan song, beginning Monday night.

In our Q&A session, TVF CEO Eric Hochberger (Gossip Guy), editor Steve Marsi (Mister Meester) and staff members Courtney Morrison, Christina Tran and Leigh Raines discuss all things Gossip Girl Season 6.

Weigh in with your take on the following topics after reading ours!

-------------------------------

1. Gossip Girl Season 6 promos and clips released so far … discuss.

Leigh: Dan's hair still looks like sh!t. Chuck hair is also kinda weird, what's with the shaved sides? Nate is gorgeous per usual. Sorry, had to get that out there. Looks like Gossip Girl is going back to its roots and trying to redeem for Season 5. Not loving Blair's outfits. Serena looks great for someone who's found passed out on a train OD'ing on blow.

Courtney: Three words: I can't wait!! It's bittersweet that this is the final season, but if the promos have shown anything... this series is going out with a bang. Chuck and Blair, Chuck's Dad, Nate is his gorgeous glory, Serena all screwed up... things are going to get good!

Eric: Well, obviously like Leigh, the most important thing to me about any Season 6 promo is analyzing Dan's hair. Glad to see the muppet look gone. Now we just need a new nickname for whatever animal died and landed on his dead. OMSG.

Christina: LOL @Eric. I totally had to do a double take because I was wondering if there was a cat or squirrel up in that not-so-hot mess. Even after all this time, Dan’s hair is still so distracting!

Steve: Based on the Chuck-Blair clip (below), and the bulk of the first two episodes, Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz aren't going to let us down. The intriguing and envelope-pushing GG is back, and perhaps with only 10 episodes to wrap it up, there will be fewer opportunities to lose its way.

2. Nate's making it his goal to unmask Gossip Girl. Will he succeed?

Leigh: I think he will by the finale. The only reason he wouldn't would be to leave room for a Gossip Girl movie, but I think most of the cast is over it by now, as are the creators.

Courtney: Absolutely. He will have needed some type of point of being on this show besides sleeping with every girl that was on it.

Eric: He better. Or else what the hell did I sit through six seasons of this show for? Come on Eric, show your face as Gossip Guy! OMFG.

Christina: I’m with Leigh on this one. We won’t find out ‘til the series finale, and I’m so happy our sparkly blue-eyed boy finally has a promising storyline. Gosh, I am going to miss him.

Steve: Not for lack of effort, and I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. I can see the titular character still shrouded in mystery at the end. What reveal, save for GG actually being Kristen Bell, could ever live up to the hype?

3. Dan's making it his goal to destroy the "insiders" with his new book. Will he succeed?

Leigh: Dan is going to piss a lot of people off and it's going to be juicy and awesome. I wish Inside was a real book!

Courtney: Nope, because he will realize that although he isn't dating one anymore or living in the UES, this dysfunctional group of "insiders" have become his friends and he cares about them.

Eric: Fail. He's Dan. He's been on a downward spiral of fail ever since he let S go. Not even G or the show's original creators can save that storyline. OMSF.

Christina: Try as he may, I highly doubt Dan will really ever succeed. However, with the infamous G on board and B leaving him far behind, who knows what type of writing all that angst can potentially conjure?

Steve: Dan can be a pretentious, holier-than-thou douche. Remember, though, he was the show's moral compass at one point, and has had strong feelings for Blair, Serena and Nate (platonic though the latter love affair was). It may get worse before it gets better, but he will make things right with the gang.

4. Serena going off the rails: How long will that last?

Leigh: Obviously not that long if she's shacking up with a new, rich, serious boyfriend. What I want to know is how she went from A to B. That seems like the one spoiler nobody can get.

Courtney: Not long. She looks pretty good in the previews with her new man. I'm thinking one episode... maybe two.

Eric: I guess that's the real question. Is marrying that rich good looking guy on or off the rails? I'll assume off and he's her coke dealer. OMSS.

Christina: Probably not long enough at all. NJBC to the rescue, and they will be back better than ever!

Steve: If Serena is going by Sabrina now, there are some seriously unresolved issues she has to work through. Also, her new man may not be who he seems to be (see our Gossip Girl Season 6 spoilers rundown).

5. What departed character would you most like to see return this fall?

Leigh: Jenny and Eric!!!! Let's not pretend either of them are too busy. I LOVE Revenge, but Declan's storyline is minimal at best. Even Vanessa. She could probably rein Dan in from the dark side.

Courtney: I can't believe I am about to say this, but Vanessa! The new love interest in the pictures kissing Nate looks just like her! Made me a little nostalgic for V and her crazy clothes. Or... Carter Baizen!!!

Eric: V!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the VUS scale I want her back at 11. You never know what you have until it's gone. LOL.

Christina: J. Humphrey! I miss those raccoon eyes.

Steve: Gotta be Jenny. No one stirred up drama like that out-of-control wild child. Whose life did she not make a living hell at one point or another? On a side note, Eric has officially lost his mind.

6. Favorite episode (or two) from the past five seasons?

Leigh: This is like asking me to choose my favorite child! I had to consult my best friend who dressed up as Serena the year I dressed up as Blair for Halloween. We had to do a Top 5: "Victor/Victrola," "Dare Devil," "Hi Society," "All About My Brother," and "Summer, Kind of Wonderful."

Courtney: "The Dark Night" and "Victor/Victrola." Gotta love those early seasons.

Eric: Season 1. Favorite episodes (or eighteen). FTW.

Christina: First place: “The Handmaiden’s Tale”. Second place: “Summer, Kind of Wonderful”.

Steve: All great choices above. In the interest of mixing it up, I also liked "Raiders of the Lost Art" this spring, for bringing the Scheme Team back together and really setting everything in motion for the final chapter.

7. What is your ideal Gossip Girl series "endgame"?

Leigh: For it to be restored to its Season One Glory. The re-unification of the NJBC. Chuck and Blair to cut the BS and get together already. Lily and Bart to be a big joke, and Lily and Rufus get back together. I'm undecided who I want Serena to end up with, but I know I want her to end up on top in the way only Serena VDW can. Like in "The Serena Also Rises." Nate to end up with me and of course, Gossip Girl's reveal.

Courtney: Chuck and Blair together for sure. Georgina gone for good. Lily and Rufus working things out. Nate and... someone. I wouldn't mind if he ended up with Serena, they could possibly be the best looking couple next to the Beckhams. I can't have S and Dan end up together, it still creeps me out that their parents are married or dating or whatever. Dan becoming a successful writer and maybe moving away from the UES he pretends to hate.

Eric: Nate and Serena get married and produce the most beautiful baby ever. AWW.

Christina: CHAIR will live happily ever after.

Steve: If Chuck and Blair don't end up together, fans will riot in the streets and possibly boycott the entire CW network. Whatever their past failures, the powers that be are not about to let that happen. So the question is how they end up together. I'm thinking a wedding, or at least a proposal she accepts. I like the symmetry of bringing Season 1 lovebirds Derena - and Rufly - back together as well. Finally, I'd love to see some old faces come back, some truly spectacular takedowns of the gang's opponents, and a romance for Neigh (Nate and our own Leigh Raines).
