Gossip Girl Season 5: Share Your Favorite Moments!

Oh Gossip Girl. Please don't leave us. We love you so hard.

In honor of repeats airing for the first time on the Style network, and the final season airing this fall on the CW, TV Fanatic is taking a look back at the series that's given us so many great memories over the years.

Last week, we reflected on Gossip Girl Season 4, a turbulent year by any measure. Today, we ask you to share your memories of the show's fifth season and all its ups, downs, highs, lows and controversies ...

A Dan and Blair Photo

Gossip Girl Season 5 began in Los Angeles when a re-energized Chuck and Nate decided to pay Serena a visit. Nate made the acquaintance of Elizabeth Hurley's Diana Payne, and Chuck nearly had a brush with death.

He's still pining for Blair, of course, as his true love is planning to marry Louis - and learns she is pregnant. The identity of the father remained a secret for some time, as did the mystery of why she'd marry Louis.

Back in New York, Dan learned that Vanessa - having been booted off the show - published one chapter of his novel as a parting shot. Inside then became a hit, but his Upper East Side pals weren't thrilled with it.

Chuck and Blair on Her Wedding Day

Gossip Girl Season 5, like Seasons 3 and 4 before it, featured Chair coming thisclose to getting together, only to have fate intervene. Or most notably, in this case, a car crash that caused her miscarriage and his near death (again).

As a result of the crash, Blair also makes a pact with God that she will marry Louis ... which she does, but only after her true feelings are revealed on video just moments earlier, at which point the prince turns on her.

It was all a bit convoluted, and that wasn't even the half of it. Following the demise of her loveless union, Blair and Dan plunged into a full-on romantic relationship, probably the most controversial arc in series history.

Love them or loathe them, everyone had an opinion on Dair.

The season also focused on Nate running the New York Spectator, a celebrity gossip site, and on Chuck's quest to find his real parents, which leads him to the shocking discovery that Bart is actually still alive.

Shortly thereafter, Bart turns on him, wresting back control of the Bass empire. At the end of the season, B makes a choice between Dan and Chuck and so does Lily between Rufus and Bart. In both cases, the latter won.

Ivy's web of lies finally unraveled, thanks to the addition of the real Charlotte Rhodes (a.k.a. Lola). The two briefly joined forces in the interest of perpetrating a classic Upper East Side scheme; their future is uncertain.

We also very briefly saw Gossip Girl ... or was it a dude?

Serena was last seen leaving town, friendless and senseless, while Dan decides to write a new book about the Upper East Side, with the help of Georgina, which brings us to where we are today, leading into the final season.

All in all, the 2011-12 campaign was not Gossip Girl's best. We can all agree on that, as well as the fact that it was the show's most polarizing. Despite some high points, we're happy to turn the page and move forward.

What's your most vivid memory of Gossip Girl Season 5? Favorite episode? Favorite moment? Most heartbreaking moment? Biggest disappointment? We want to hear from you as we gear up for the big farewell.

Season five was lulzy. From the dairsaster to all the Ban fans it produced. Season 5 could be cut out and everything would be great.

I bought Season 5 today and it's not that bad some things were a little rushed

The only thing I liked was Dair. They were funny, cute and refreshing. I had gotten a bit tired of Chair so yeah, it was fun watching Dair.. until the last episode. Oh how bad it was (and I'm not only referring to Dair's break-up. The whole episode was chaos). But Dair's break-up, It was if like they didn't care about eachother at all and it made me so sad that they (the producers/scriptwriters/whatever) in a way kind of made fun of Dair and made less of what they actually had. I'm not that excited for a new season and not sure if I'll be watching tbh.

Personally, I really liked season 5, the gutwrenching Chair scenes! My fav episodes are based soley on Chair. I do not like Dan, Serena, Nate, Lily, Rufus, Bart, Ivy, Charlie, or Georgina. So my favs from season 5 are due to my love of Chair. In no particular order: 5x10-Riding in Town Cars with Boys
5x11-The End of the Affair-I rewatched last night on Netflix and cried
5x14-The Back Up (gag me) Dan
5x24-The Return of the Ring-namely the very last scene I am new to this forum, just discovered this site in the past few weeks. I only began watching season 4 in the middle of the season, luckily we have Netflix and I have watched all episodes. I will admit, I did fast forward through a lot if they did not involve either Chuck or Blair. I pray they are the end game, I do not care about any other couples. Some have said its an abusive relationship, mind games and what not, I do not see it that way, I see them as very passionate and in love!

Another vote for "when it was over". What a horrible, sorry waste of time and talent Season 5 was. If they do a box set of all 6 seasons, that season alone will make me skip buying it unless I find it for $1 at a yard sale. It sucked so badly it ruined the series for me.

Oh, I totally forgot the apology scene from 5x06. That was one of the top two moments of the season, IMO.

Does "when it was over" count as a moment? Seriously though, I guess Chuck and Blair's kiss in the back of the towncar in 5x10. Just poignant and beautiful and heartbreaking, especially since we pretty much all knew what was coming. Second favorite moment was when the two of them were scouting out the whore house for places to supposedly have sex in- that was really reminiscent of the good ol' days.

Awful season...total dairsaster... First half was bearable but second half was unwatchable. Chuck was amazing whole season. Loved Monkey so much

season 5 was crap, crap and more crap

I LOVED Dan and Blair's elevator scene! It was actually FUN, which is so rare for GG. Penn and Leighton were hilarious and charming. They played drunk so well. The moments when Gossip Girl realizes its characters are still flawed early-20-somethings always make me smile. It makes the characters legitimately believable, rather than some soapy caricatures. So adorable.

Gossip Girl Quotes

And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell ... You know you love me. XOXO, Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl

[to Jenny] That's the thing. You need to be cool to be queen. Anne Boleyn thought only with her heart and she got her head chopped off. So her daughter Elizabeth made a vow never to marry a man. She married a country. Forget boys. Keep your eye on the prize, Jenny Humphrey. You can't make people love you, but you can make them fear you. For what it's worth, you're my Queen. I choose you.
