Grey's Anatomy Review: The Heartbreak Hospital

at . Comments

Grey’s Anatomy aired its second episode of the season with "Remember the Time," an installment that jumped back in time to right after the fatal plane crash and the days after. Although I knew it was coming, I was totally not prepared for it.

How much more tragedy can these doctors take? Seriously, it’s no wonder that Cristina couldn’t bear to handle the situation after they were rescued. There have been bombs, shootings and too many deaths to count.

The McDreamys. Meredith was lucky enough to get out of that crash without too much damage. Derek, however, was not. His hand was mangled. REALLY mangled. Who else was pumped that he asked Callie to do his surgery? The girl doesn’t get enough credit on her work. Remember when she made that girl walk who was bent over at a ninety degree angle? I mean, seriously.

Crazy Cristina. Yang went into a spiral after the crash. Her speech to Owen about what she endured out there was heartbreaking. Keeping the bugs out of Arizona’s leg and having Mark fall to pieces on her was terrible. She still managed to say a couple funny lines that you can check out on the Grey’s Anatomy quotes page. She was right on running away to her new job. But I'm not too sure how long that will last.

Goodbye Leg. Wow, Arizona was pissed. Rightfully so. She blames Alex for her situation because the only reason she got on that plane was anger at him. Callie’s call to have Alex cut off her leg could not have gone well. I am curious to see Arizona’s reaction after the surgery. She can’t go on blaming Alex, but how do you move forward from that?

Missing McSteamy. Although we knew Eric Dane would be in this episode, I almost wish he wasn’t. It was sad enough watching him die the first time. It had been so long since we have seen Julia that I almost forgot who she was. I know I wasn’t the only one who teared up when Sloan admitted that he loved Lexie. We now have officially said goodbye to the most handsome man to walk the halls of Seattle Grace. Grey’s Anatomy will never be the same.

Side Notes...

  • April was heading home to the farm now that her contract was officially over. Avery asked her to meet him at Joe’s but never got to show up because of Sloan. Where is this couple headed now that she is on her way back to Seattle?
  • Just a few glances of the new interns this week. Still not too exciting. We have enough cast members to worry about.
  • Who else wishes they could have seen the goodbye between Cristina and Owen?
  • Bailey just moved up another level with me, if that was even possible. She officially became awesome when she made a Lost reference.
It's Karev
Overall, a pretty solid episode that filled us in on the tragic plane crash. I wasn’t too sure that I was going to like the fact that we flash backed in time, but the episode was entertaining and tugged at your heart strings. Just the way we like our Grey’s Anatomy.
We have a week off before our next new episode, so use that time to hit up the comments and check out the TV Fanatic Grey’s Anatomy Round Table this weekend. Until next time, GA Fans.

Totally agree with Lexi-it wouldnt take Avery that long to get Sophia. They should of let Mark see her if they were going to even bring it up. What was Marks illness? Wouldn't of Christina already know the personalitys of those at her new job she interviewed them and they her?

Haven't seen these 1st 2 episodes yet how do y'all recomend I watch them? the 2nd ep 1st or the 1st the 2nd ep

grey's used to be my favorite show,i would never miss an episode. i was and still disapointed that they killed off lexie and mark when i have always hoped they would get back together(guess they finally did in heaven)their chemistry was the few reasons i was hooked. it will never be the same, i think after some time i will miss lexie and mark and get tired of seeing annoying april, boring owen, joker jackson, and im not going to be interested anymore!shouldnt have gotten rid of the best instead of keeping the dread. i did not like the recent grey's, i found it a bit confusing and rushed. they should have began at the crash showing them getting rescued and oh showing a little more of remembering lexie or not showing funeral scene(at least george had a funeral)would have made it better!

the episode was pretty good. i got lost a couple times with all the back and forth but it was expected when i heard it would be mainly flashbacks mixed with somewhat current. there was just a couple parts i wish were different or not happened at all. i wish Mark could have see Sophia one last time. i mean seriously Avery how long does it take to grab her out of the daycare center? 5 freaking hours? no. he should have been back within 15 minutes tops of leaving to go get her. now for the part i wish wasn't in there at all. it was small and maybe not very big to some but to me it was huge and unnerving. the part of Christina's speach where she spoke about Lexie and the animals fighting. that part disturbed me beyond belief. 9 seasons i have watched this show and not once have i been disturbed or freaked out or made to feel ill. but that part literally had me running for the nearest bathroom because i really thought i was going to be sick. i know it's fake but it just hit something inside of me that i just can't shake. i wish it wasn't in there bc Lexie's death was tragic enough for me. but to think that even after she was gone her helpless body still couldn't rest in peace? i just couldn't handle it.

I'm confused; it seemed like Mark died in the first episode. Then how was he alive in the second one? Did the episodes get shown in the wrong order? Please anyone explain this to me.

I get why Arizona was angry if you had your leg amputated when you thought you would be okay after the surgery you would pissed too she is just taking her angry out on people callie because she asked her to save her leg she didn't want it amputated, if I got my leg amputated I would be angry at the people who I care about so lay off Arizona she Will eventually come around.

I loved this episode.& I love to see owen supporting Cristina I want them to be happy together again

Until this episode, I was just passively hoping Arizona would die. Now I want to see it. She had no reason for going off like that, none, and her own damn pettiness landed her ass on that plane. She needs to STFU. I couldn't stand her even before this season, but now... damn, she needs to go. @Lolaine 9 seasons in and I'm still waiting for a big Alex story that is actually about him, too ITA...SMH

I enjoyed the epi last evening of GA. I felt terrible for Alex -- that was some tongue lashing that he got from Arizona. He did not deserve for her to talk to him like that. It was not his fault that she was on the plane instead of him. Must say I don't care much for Arizona, wish we had Lexie back, Arizona can leave any time. Excited to see April and Jackson together. I agree with KimP, hope Izzie comes back for Alex, they belong together.

Another GREAT episode! It was very hard watching Mark die all over again and he seemed just fine talking to Dr. Webber and then he was gone? He didn't look like a "dying man." I did notice that look of realization on his face when he was making his choices; AND where was Addison?? She didn't look like she even knew of anything! when you see her on Private Practice. Wouldn't someone have told her? I loved the "Lost" reference from Bailey! Lol! It took a few seconds to register in my brain! So why wasn't there anything more about Lexie? No reference to a funeral or anything.... just nothing else since she closed her eyes! :( I hope they are still going to go back and fill in some blanks... like how were they found, what else happened when they were there ect...
