The episode was great, especially the scene where Christina is in the tub, talking about what happened in the woods. For all of you who think it's too sad, get your heads out of your asses! This show is based on depression and gore.

When Owen was giving Christina her bath, that whole speech was just heartbreaking. I can see why Arizona is mad at Alex, and poor Callie what she is about to embark on with losing Mark, and now Arizona is probably mad at her, too. I liked the scenes with Callie and Derek. Yes, I agree Meredith has seemed stronger. I was so glad to see Bailey and the Chief bring her baby to her.

About the surge with Mark...I have worked in Assisted Living and a lot of patients are so ill and you think they are going to die and then, yes, they get that surge and they are strong, they want to do everything and then maybe, it depends on the patient, they pass away. It is always very sad.

I also missed any mention of Lexie except for what Christina said, that brought chills to my spine.

I watched the episode twice and every time it brought tears to my eyes and shivers up and down my spine.

Yes they really need more of a finale to lexie and mark, but also teddy! is the season finale seriously the last time we're ever seeing her? Wouldn't teddy have stuck around after hearing about the plane crash? Makes no sense.

Heart breaking episode. Sorry I missed the Lost reference could some one tell me what Bailey said, please? Ty

@Jennie : Mark didn't die of cancer or disease. Cristina said he kept dying on her when they were in the woods, and it seems he crashed several times at the Boise hospital. I suppose it was too hard on his body and he couldn't recover, probably also due do the fact that he probably din't want to fight much for life, after losing Lexie.

I didn't like that they went backwards after last weeks episode. I don't understand why this episode wasn't the first one of the season. It explained why Arizona lost her leg, which was good but we had the see McSteaming die again. I still don't understand what happened. If the crash didn't kill him and he died from a disease or cancer mentioned at the end of last season there was no mention of it. I don't remember what it was. And if he had cancer, there seamed to be no treatment. It was like he came back from the crash and then died later without any explaination as to why he was dying.

This episode made me sick for some parts : Yang's speech about the bugs and the animals around Lexie, etc. But it was intense, cause I could clearly imagine what they've all been through.

Indeed, these doctors never have a moment of peace, and I think now it gets really too much... Since season 7, we've barely seen any real patient, it's always bad things happening to our doctors, come on. I miss the patients !

About Arizona... I understand she's mad at Alex but one hand she's responsible too. I mean, you can't mentor a resident just to make him stay by your side, it's just like children you raise : you have to let them go their own way, if he wanted to go to another hospital, she can't interfere.

Jessica Capshaw was really amazing in this episode, and I feel so sorry for Callie but now we definitely know there was no other choise than cutting off that leg !

Finally I will conclude by saying that Meredith is really the strongest character of all : she always survives an

I liked this episode but I thought they would tell more about the time they were in the woods. How they were found and such. I also hate the fact that Mark looked so well...like he was recovering. What the heck? They could have had him look worse since we know he died. I think Mark should have ran off to be with Addison. After all he loved her before he loved Lexie.

yang's scene were heartbreaking and same goes for sloane. meredith's call telling yang that she was right in some things for leaving the sgmw hospital but she(grey) found her(yang), her love(mc dreamy) and her family (sola, et al)and it is where she practically grew up. i hope to see more flashbacks to answer the questions of the majority of the followers of the show. aren't you going to give lexie any special necrological services? after all. lexie and mc steamy gave the show very good boost. i am also inclined to believe that there's a lot of materials that can be worked on on the cast that was retained that i believe that additional new faces is not needed now. i can only deduce that putting new faces means that the writers are fresh out of ideas to spin stories revolving around grey,mc dreamy. the nazi, chief weber, karev, jackson, yang and owen. please, complete the details of the plane crash and rescue and rehab. of the drs.

God Shonda really twisted the knife when Cristina mentioned lexi being chewed on by the wild animals...that's all i can think about, which is too sad! Loved the Lost reference XD Watching McSteamy die again was too painful as well, jeez as if watching him die once wasn't enough for us. These first 2 eps back were REALLY intense and sad, so i cant wait to see ep3, but pissed we have to wait 2 weeks!

  13. Pat

Arizona doesn't have to forgive Alex, she could do us all a favour and just leave, hate this character.

  14. farva07

Where was Addison? You'd think since they were close and all, she would be by Mark's side when he died...

  15. Charis

My othe rbig issue with this season so far is that if you are watching Grey's for the first time you would think Callie was married to Mark. In the first 2 episodes she is in more scenes and talks more about Mark then she does Arizona. Speaking of Arizona what the hell is with the lack of scenes. I hget the whole surprise about the leg and what not, but to take 45 minutes (including commercials) to actually start telling her story is kinda ridiculous. I feel like Shonda was so foucsed on Mark and concluding that story that she forgot that there are othe rcharacters.

Sandra Oh was amazing as usual. I hope thriughout the season we get to hear what actually happened to them when they were out in the woods. It would also be nice to see the plane crash survivors in a scene together.

And anothe rthing, why did Alex go to Callie about Arizona when it is stated multiple times during this episdoe that Callie is not Arizona's doctor and can't make that decision.

I am a big fan of the

This was a great episode, seeing what happened to each of them from the time they got rescued until last weeks epiosde.
Seeing Sloan was bitter sweet. I loved having one more episode with him but it was bitter sweet.
I to do not blame Christina for leaving, her emotional trauma was crazy, drinking jet fuel, her on pee, helping Arizona, seeing Sloan lose consiousness over and over. No kidding she was the way she was when she came home! However I know Christina will be back soon.
The Sloan and Avery scenes were sad because they reminded me that we will never see them together again, they had a great friendship/mentorship and when Avery said at one point in response to Sloan and making him feel like a male prostitute was super funny!
I too like loved Bailey's lost reference.
Personally I cried at the end when Meredith was leaving the message for Christina and then Christina calling her and saying Mer is and always will be her person.

    Continued -

To make me think her and Shonda were fighting or something. I mean she gives Mark a two episode arc and posts a eulogy for him and Lexie gets nothing in comparison. Was really necessary to have her frickin body EATEN?? The huge discrepancy in the treatment of the characters is appalling.

SR needs to stop obsessing over Scandal and start giving the show that made her name the attention and thought it deserves.

I can let the lack of detail about the reaction at SGMW and how Exactly Mark died (internal massive injuries I assume) and the other small things go.

What PISSES me off is lack of acknowlege and closure for Lexie and Mark. All they get is five minutes in the finale and then two one minute shout-outs? They need some kind of spiritual reunion scene - like at a joint funeral scene. I'm not saying full out ghostly action but just something like the elevator scene with Izzie and George. Confirmation for the fans that they are actually together and happy.

AND where is the grief and the send off for Lexie??? Her death has been seriously ignored in comparison to Marks - not that he didn't deserve such a send off. That's the point - when such an integral character dies it should be a big deal. It's just been 'Lexi's dead, too late for her amd Mark, oh well, and btw her body was fought over by wild animals.'

It's enough of a lack of respect to her character to make me think her and

"What I really missed about this episode was,how they found them.how everybody else heard about it?? In the season 8 finale Owen had his phone off."

He obviously turned it on at some point.

  21. vania

I was lefted alittle confused. For one, I wished they would have reversed the episodes it was like a puzzle, trying to figure out what happened. Two, I wished they would have explained how they were found, everyone was given bits and pieces about the crash. And when is Meredith going to break down, she acts as if she was not in a crash? Everyone is going through their own demons about the crash except Meredith, Why? I hope they have a memorial for Sloan and Lexie, they deserve it.

  22. ath

I did not care for this episode. It jumped around too much.

  23. Amanda

At the end of season 8, Owen checked his voicemail and got the messages that they never arrived. They were out there for 5 days.

  24. megan

I think there was too much damage to his heart....the surgery in the forrest...being stranded for days and Christina said he kept dying on her and she had to keep him alive....maybe it was too much damage and trama to his body.

I must say...my favorite part was "The Chief" Webber and Sloan, as he helps him fill out his medical forms....and Mark realizing that he was not going to make it....talk about heartbreaking.

I am not sure where things will go from here....honestly, it is a good thing the McDreamy's are still around. and webber....and I want tough Bailey back:) I love Jackson with Sloan...but alone or with kepner he is not my favorite. I wish they would focus on the remaining doctors and stop bringing others on....I will miss McSteamy:(

  25. Lana

This is what I found about about the energy surge someone gets right before they die:

    The final surge of energy

"Often when people are dying, they will reach a period of time when it
seems they're getting better. Your loved one may wake up and may be
able to communicate with you. These surges can last for a few hours to
a few days. Though it can be confusing for you to see your loved one
with renewed vitality, keep in mind that this is a normal part of the
dying process, and your loved one may not actually be getting better.
He or she may soon return to illness. The final surge of energy is
often a good time to gather your family and close friends to say final
    goodbyes."

So I guess the writing on the wall was that Sloan was in really bad shape and was gonna die anyway. So heartwrenching to watch.
