"Killing Lilly was a big mistake. The romance between her and Bohannon was the only positive to offset all the horrid negative. Now it's just completely off balance and not enjoyable at all. I'm done."
Now it's just mindless violence and more than likely the return of a mad dog who should have died a long time ago. Some of the audience appears to love to hate the Swede but I passed the point where I could stomach him some time ago. It was brainless for Cullen and everyone else with an IQ over 10 to have allowed him to live and wreck more havoc.
So we lost Mr. Toole, who was just becoming interesting, and Mrs. Bell, a strong female character who shared great chemistry with Cullen and got to keep boring Ruth, equally boring Sean and the probably undead Swede. Great trade.
Count me and I suspect a lot of other female viewers out. Badly done AMC.

So sorry to see Lilly go. Cullen is destined, I guess, to just be a sad and angry person. That could get boring. I can only think that Dominique has big movie deals and they had to write her out of the show. Sorry that it appears that Joseph Black Moon won't be seen again as well. That could have been such a rich thread in the series if they had bothered to develop the story. So much potential for one person to straddle the two cultures. I personally think developing Joseph Black Moon had more promise that that evil Swede. Oh well, we don't always get what we want.

Toole's suicide was an interesting way to end the tension between him and Elam without doing the expected High Noon duel over Eva.
Sean and Ruth relationship is not explored enough and makes no sense what so ever. Why waste time on it if not to explore why she does not reject his propsal outright but string him along? If she was not interested at all why would she bother telling him she cannot marry a papist?
However, killing Lily is the kiss of death of the show for me. In episode 7 Bohannon was becoming human and Lily was also becoming more interesting, I thought we would understand why she slept with Durant even though she was clearly well off enough to go back to England or to live off her husband's estate. The "I want to see this RR through did not make enough sense." He warning to Durant about his downfall was an interesting avenue and Mardsen's proto her for work in NY was entirely bewildering: she was described a well off in England in season 2 and now she needs to becom

Loved the finale, until they killed Lilly. That woman has survived so much, to be taken out by a lunatic. I am so disappointed that you chose to turn the story in that direction. And Mrs Durante is such a bitch, I can't hardly stand watching her. Not sure I'll watch next year yet...if it's renewed.

We waited TWO YEARS to see Cullen and Lily get together, then they did... for all of two-three episodes. Then a sickening, meaningless death for a wonderful character. AMC and it writers are Zombies themselves - heartless, crude, and sadistic. I want my time back!
Lily's life was the ONLY hope that emerged for this show. I was interested in where she and Cullen would have taken us (we waited SO long for them, didn't we?), and for a moment the story future looked VERY interesting. With her gone, the story collapses into just a Wild-West-Walking-Dead-Broken-Bad show. Dull, disjointed, dreary, and uninteresting.
I'm will disconnect AMC from my cable lineup to express my disapproval, and wait till their other shows, like MadMen, come around on Netflix download.

They killed off the last thing Cullen held on to. His wife was dead, the doc was dead, and now Lilly. Lilly needs to live for this story to continue.

Thats the problem Mya its no longer interesting, you've killed 2 of your 3 interesting and indepth characters in a CHARACTER driven show and placed the last remaining one Cullen into an old already done setting/mindset. And what the Swedes not dead, well if it was in a blog well then it MUST be true!!!!(sarcasm). They may very well bring him back but again, given how they portrayed his "death", it would just be insulting to the viewers to some how rationalize his surviving. If they wanted to reserve that card they should of just shown him leaping off bridge and show his body float/drift away.
Watched this show from inception. We switched 11 televisions from Dish to DirecTv to be able to watch this series and YOU KILLED LILY?!? Waste of a story line! Not watching next season unless she is back...

Replace Lilly or bring her back as we invested in her to help Bohannan, or do we wait for another lady to heal him. Please!

Really uneven finale. They killed O'Toole just as he was really becoming an interesting character. Lilly wasn't really interesting enough to keep or kill, but her death - like O'Toole's - just seemed random.
The show on the whole has been inconsistent during it's history - with Bohanan being almost a total rip off of the main chacter from the Red Dead Redemption game and Durant basically being a poor man's Al Swearengin... They seem prone to really clunky cliche stuff - or doing things for the sake of it. Killing characters off has become kind of standard practice, but it's overused in a lot of ways. Look at the impact of a character like Opie on Sons of Anarchy dying, and then this... it was just uneven.
While this season was a huge step up over last season, there were still a lot of hits and misses. The Irish guy and the Church girl story was entirely uninteresting. Common/O'Toole/Whore storyline really never progressed much.. When characters got interesting (The runaway Siou

Agreed. Lily the only good thing about this show. If a twist brings her back ill be pissed at being tricked. If she's actually dead... I'm still pissed. Either way, you lose.

Yep they've done a fine job of derailing the show. They've killed 2 of the 3 interesting characters in Lily and Swede, and rendered the third, Cullen, boring. And yes the swede is dead unless the writers feel like insulting our intelligence falling 60+feet into a shallow river face first with eyes and mouth open no less drifting down into wilderness to get up later. Think the point was the swede was even taking cullen's chance for revenge away. But again now Cullen is boring cause as someone mentioned above hell prolly revert back to the cullen of the first episodes which first time around great, but now it will be like watching a rerun. Weve been there and done that with Cullen's character, and as a fan I have very little interest in seeing what the writers can scrape together for season 3.

Who thought up killing Lily??? Strangle, hang, shoot, or stab the FOOL writer. She gave this show class. Need to figure out how to raise her from the dead. Otherwise, this show is dead.

Explosive finale. Opens the door for an interesting season 3. Huge mistake on Lily. Maybe the writer's can resurrect her, like she played dead and the walk through town was to convince the Swede and Durants she is dead. This
would be a great surprise into a few episodes to have her reappear to seek vengeance on those who tried to destroy her. She could come back to haunt Hannah.

I have really enjoyed this show. I am very disappointed that Lilly was killed off! The story line with her and Cullen was one reason that I watched the show. I love the story line with Ferguson & Mrs Toole I hope that you find a way to bring Lilly back to the show won't be the same without her

The best of what TV gives us these days....agree that Lily being taken out was a huge mistake...the romance was built very gracefully only to vanish!!! Too bad.

Overall a good finale that left you with real endings versus dumb cliffhangers...the show seems a little too smart for that. However, with that being said, I'm so sad to see Lily was killed...still feeling upset and mad about that choice. Any chance we think it was all a dream sequence? Hmm, probably not. Again, they're too smart for that....
