Ming-Na Wen Joins Cast of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Ming-Na Wen has been cast on ABC's upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D.

The actress (Stargate Universe, Eureka) will portray Melinda May on the wildly anticipated Joss Whedon series, joining Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) as the second star to jump on board the comic book-based adventure.

May will be an ace pilot/weapons expert and Deadline describes her as someone "soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences."

Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen will write the S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot, with Joss likely to direct.

Is it even possible for a television character to *not* be "damaged" by their military service? Why can't they have been made stronger, more honorable, better, by their military service? Ah, well.
