The Good Wife Review: A Sympathetic Drug Dealer?

at . Comments

Lemond Bishop's back!

Despite his drug dealing business, in "Waiting for the Knock," Bishop came across as a normal guy and loving father who makes sandwiches for his son's lunch. Regardless of how sympathetic he appeared, he was in deep trouble that only got worse.

Return of Lemond Bishop

When Bishop's accountant was arrested, his attorneys got involved to find out if he was a target. Diane and Alicia were there to represent his legitimate businesses, while Leslie from the firm that handled his illegal businesses was involved as well.

They started with the financials to see what the accountant could have found. The best part was when the Trustee got involved. He was a financial wizard and realized that the numbers didn't add up. I love this guy. With Cary's recommendation that he help out in Family Law, I could easily see the Trustee taking a job at Lockhart/Gardner when the bankruptcy is over. He can save the place and reap the benefits as well.

His findings helped the lawyers figure out the manager at one of the health clubs was doing a business on the side selling HGH. It looked like Bishop was going down for illegal sales that he didn't even know about. He let his business get too big and it was going to cost him.

The twist regarding the confidential informant was a good one. Bishop wasn't in trouble for the HGH, but because the inside source was missing and then found dead by Kalinda. Not a good day for Bishop. As sympathetic as Bishop was at the beginning, he only became more when he said to call in the anonymous tip about the dead girl. He could have waited it out, but he did the moral thing.

In the end, he was still charged with the girl's murder. The goodbye between Bishop and his son was heartbreaking to watch. He loves his son so much, but it made me wonder why he deals drugs then. His legitimate businesses make enough money to support them. If he gets out of prison, will Bishop see the light? Will he go clean for his son? I'm sure we'll find out as I'd bet Lockhart/Gardner will be his counsel in the trial.

While the trouble with Bishop was going on, things weren't going well for Peter's campaign. The blog released the story about Peter's alleged affair even after Will threatened them with a cease and desist. This story has the feeling of a huge political scam. Could it have been orchestrated by Maddie Hayward? Her meeting with Indira Starr seemed too convenient. Maddie could easily move into a power position in the race saying she was a supporter of Peter's, but now she has reconsidered. A slick move.

Peter may have won 96% in the straw poll, but there is plenty of time before the election for his support to dissipate. Perhaps Alicia can come to his rescue. Though I still fear that something will come out about Alicia and Will. And Will's demand that the affair article be pulled will only add fuel to that story's fire. When is the election, anyway? Is this story going to be never-ending?

Things also hit a new low between Kalinda and Nick. She was forced to confront him twice. Once at work and also after finding out Lana's house had been ransacked. She played him well at work by not giving the answer he wanted, but the law firm approved one.

Poor Cary was stuck in the middle with no clue what was going on. And then he saw Kalinda and Nick go after each other in the hall when they supposedly just met. I was surprised Cary didn't question her about it, though I'm sure it will come up at some point.

Nick's break in at Lana's achieved his goal. He was able to get information to push Kalinda away from Lana. Why is Lana photographing Kalinda? Is it because she is stalking her? That wouldn't be a shock. She clearly is attached to Kalinda and has done some stalker-like things before. Or, is there more to it?

Kalinda's cool behavior towards Lana was not unexpected, but it was pretty harsh. If she's upset with Lana, she should just come out and tell her what's going on. As it is now, Nick could try to prove a point to Kalinda and do real harm to her sometimes girlfriend. And, then she will feel really bad about it.

It was not a good day for any of the Lockhart/Gardner group or for Peter's campaign. Though, on the bright side, Bishop's trial will bring in some much needed income to the firm's coffers.

I'm not liking that Maddie one bit and I haven't trusted her from the get-go! She's u to something and she's using Alicia to meddle her way into Peter's campaign. In addition, Alicia is largely being caught off guard and that's not like her. She needs to wake up and get serious about who she can trust and just who really IS telling the truth about this alleged "affair" or "hook-up?" Personally, I think Peter has learned his lesson and he's not about to do anything like that to jeopardize his campaign. Someone(Maddie) is out to get him and if it ain't one thing it's another. I'd like to see him get elected but I'm unsure about a renewed relationship with his wife, though I have no doubt she will help save the day. After all, she IS the good wife, right?

1) maddie is going to become Peter's opponent, she has made it easy for herself to just walk into the role. but her need for alicia, that is actually yet to be revealed 100
2) lana/nick dont care just make kalinda kalinda again and all be fine. loved how cary jumped to her defence and how she's going out of her way to make cary be out of nick's line. they need to hook up already!!!!
3) episode was 5/5
4) loved the trustee in this episode, he's really needed in the firm n would love to see him and david lee in a scene again....
5) bishop story was sad and shows how the law always pin on the easiest target rather than a thorough investigation....i feel he was set up and another king pin is on his/her way...

Alicia should have played 'hard to get' with Maddie. Let's be friends with nothing much in common is too easy. Alicia played along because Maddie was the money for the campaign as she put it. Maybe Maddie is genuine and just wants a friend, that's probably what Alicia kept thinking. Something was fishy from the beginning when Maddie gave Diane the impression that she would let up on the building as the new owner. Alicia should have been a tad more curious to avoid this dilemma and now she has to play along or be played. Clearly all Alicia wanted from her was her money and to keep her happy, those relationships go sour fast. Especially if you clearly have no real friendship beyond the ice breaker.

I don't know about you guys, I think Lana is obviously keeping stuff from Kalinda(with her being an FBI agent and all)and might or might not be up to something shady.. but Nick is so twisted that my first thought was that he might have just come up with a lie about Lana having all these photos of Kalinda just to get her to stay away from her... I mean the man just never quits. We have no proof that the photo was taken by Lana after all.
Just a thought..

Don't know why I am having problems making my comment. I think peter has had enough problems trying to make amends for his mistakes and needs someone other than Eli (and Alicia out of guilt) on his side. His mother Jackie is a risk and should be kept at arms length. Kalinda and Lana should find a way to put Nick back in jail or worst and kakinda should go about her business withe them. Maddie is a rich bitch and seems to enjoy making others miserable. Do hope the Alicia/Will affair comes to light, iam sure the results would be interesting and I think Will's call to the blogger on Petrr's behalf had a hidden agenda. More trouble for Peter next week. Pitiful.

Agree that the trustee would be an asset to the firm, however, Nathan Lane is only guesting, and won't be staying with the show. And that's pity, 'cause he's so, so good.

I think all will be revealed concerning Maddie next week. I think she knows a lot more than she's telling. I, too, also think Will and Alicia will be revealed. "What's done in the dark always comes to the light" I think Jackie is suffering from early dementia.....I wonder where they are going with that. I agree that Kalinda just should tell Lana to leave her alone. I think Lana is trying to build some kind of case against Kalinda. I don't know why she'd be taking pictures of Kalinda and Eli.......and, yes, Jill Flint needs to be back on Royal Pains.....She will be on their December wedding movie......

I think Maddie is putting herself in position to be Peter's opponent.

that Maddie bitch, i knew from the very beginning that was something wrong with her, like a weird sixth sense, she wasn't in for supporting Peter at all.

I really Cary. Glad he is back and I hope they use him more.
I do not understand this weird Maddie character. She is very untrustworthy and Alisha should just stay away from her now. There is something big going to go down with her, She boots the law firm out of the 27th floor, she pursues Alicia and then contributes to Peter, and now she met with the girl who made up the story? It is all bad news.
