While I don't care for Tommy and Laurel (because I never like a best friend going with his best friend's girlfriend, whether he thought the person dead or not, and especially if he found out his friend was NOT dead), I'm not a shipper of Oliver and Laurel either. So I can accept Oliver and the Huntress. Plus I can't see how Laurel could really take Oliver back after he went with her sister and inadvertently caused her death. That's too much "water under the bridge". I definitely did not see that coming - John Barrowman being Tommy's father. What a shocker! But, btw, isn't he too young to be Tommy's father?

Was Tommy's dad the same guy who visited Moira in her bedroom? I didn't think they were.....
Yeah, Tommy didn't look to convincing when he said "That was MY trust fund." to his dad. He'll probably move in with the Queens.

@TFV168: My thoughts exactly. I even asked my husband about it as we were watching. From what I can tell, Tommy's dad is part of the shadowy group (that also includes Oliver's mom) who sabotaged the Queen's boat in the first place. They (the shadowy group) are very panicky that "The Hood" seems to be targeting people on the list of names Oliver's dad gave Oliver before he died. Does that clear it up?
I agree with some of the other commenters here: I had a really hard time digging up sympathy for poor little trust fund Tommy being cut off. Time for real life, Tommy! Now that he's broke, a relationship with Laurel will be good for him. I'm liking Oliver & Helena, for the moment. Let's see how it goes.

This show is only good because Stephen Amell takes his shirt off half the time.

Okay, I'm a little lost. I guessed the reveal of Tommy's dad was supposed to be significant based on the pause in the show, but I have no idea why. What is so significant about Tommy's dad?
Steve: Tommy is Olivers age so that makes them 27. Usually when families have money like Oliver's and Tommy's the kids do not have to work as they have trust funds. :)
I thought this episode was fantastic!
For me this continues to be the best new show.
I feel bad for Tommy, I am sure there is more to the story of why his dad cut him off the day after he visited Moira and asked her about her health and if she reconsidered. That was super confusing to me. However I think it is what lead Mr. Merlyn to cut Tommy off. Are Tommy and Oliver brothers?
I knew that John Barrowman was Mr. Merlyn as soon as Tommy went to talk to him.
I do want to see Oliver and Laurel together in the end but I like her and Tommy for now and I think Helena and Oliver make one hot pair!
I really hope we do not have Thea be mean to Oliver and then sweet every episode!

To the folks shipping Tommy and Laurel - don't even bother LOL. I actually wish, but it shall not be. If they're sticking with comic lore, Laurel eventually becomes Black Canary, and she and Green Arrow become a pretty formidable couple.
I don't know - I found it hard to stay riveted to this episode. It bored me a little.

The idea of the show is that Laurel and Oliver will end up together. The thing is, it could (and probably will) take a long time. In the meantime, there has to be something going on, right? Oliver can relate to Helena, but he does not love her. He barely knows her. He loves Laurel, and has decided to stay away from her to protect her and himself. Laurel has mixed feelings, she loves him but she knows he's not trustworthy. I think that she getting involved with Tommy is a bad idea, he may be nicer and more charming than Oliver, but they are very similar, or rather, he is very similar to Laurel's image of Oliver. The new Oliver has many layers and has more depth, Tommy is a rich boy with no credit card. That tantrum was telling. I don't feel sorry for him, sorry. Get a job!!! I think the only reason the writers are pushing Tommy and Laurel is to get her on a storyline that does not mix her with Oliver, because she has to be on the show, but putting them together too often could end up in

I'm glad Oliver has another person to confide in and I like him with Helena a lot more than I do with Laurel. I don't really see why Laurel and Oliver should be together other than they have a history. I like Laurel with Tommy a lot more. She smiles and laughs more with him. There's always tension with Oliver. I was completely shocked by Tommy's father; I definitely did not see it coming. I don't watch Revenge so I can't comment on the similarities, but the theme of revenge is nothing new.

I'm so sick of people relating this show to Batman and bloody Revenge! You might as well say shows like Emily Owens, M.D. is like Grey's Anatomy and Supernatural is like Grimm. This show has a completely different tone and feeling to it, with characters that you can actually enjoy unlike Revenge. Season 2 has gone to crap with that show.
Now, as for the one true thing that shocked me due to the incredible twist: Jack Barrowman is Tommy's father? DAMN! Should've seen that one coming.

The previews for the next episode looks good, glad to finally see another love interest for Oliver, I was shocked to see Tommy's dad, & I agree Tommy is in his late 20s to early 30s..it's about time he starts making his own money & stop living of his dad..but am I the only one who felt like the actors look to close to in age for them to be father & son lol. & I'm still confused at Thea's age, she's still in high school but let they let her go out & drink every night at adult clubs.. I was happy to only see a little of Laural her & Tommy were cute at the end

Great episode, I've completely shifted to Oliver/Helena shipper, these two have great chemistry. Their date was great to watch especially when she mentioned her fiancee and Oliver looked disappointed but learned he died. He obviously had a thing for her from the start, I liked the mystery about her at first and he clearly relates to her in many ways. I don't think he'll get with Laurel any time soon and she seems happy with Tommy so its a win/win.
I was a bit shocked about Tommy's father but things will only get interesting from there am sure. I also really hope Moira confides in Walter cause she seems to be in way over her head with Merlyn and the mysterious powerful organisation.

Loved the episode. I've wanted Oliver and laurel to be together since the Begining but now I want him to be with Helena because I think there better together and they actually understand each other. Oliver can say what he is doing isn't the same as what she's doing but I think there pretty much the same just doing things a little differently and he can't blame her for killing people when he's done so much of that himself. I think they have great chemistry and it will be fun seeing them together. Can't wait for the next episode it looks amazing.

Okay after today...officially a Tommy and Laurel shipper. They are so adorable and have loads of chemistry.I love her with Oliver but its obvious they wont happen for a very long time.So until then Im going to enjoy tommy and laurel and their fantastic cuteness. As for the huntress, not really feeling her.To be honest I don't think she has chemistry with oliver, but I also don't really like her character yet.An wow!!I too was shocked at tommy's father reveal.Crazy stuff.
Felicity: It feels really good having you inside me. And by you I mean your voice. And by inside me I mean my ear. I'm going to stop talking right now. Olive...
