Grey's Anatomy Review: Can I Get Some Help Here?

at . Comments

This was one of those Grey's Anatomy episodes that viewers will either love or hate. They will love the fact that it focused on the heart of this series: Yang and Grey. They will hate that the other main characters were pretty much MIA and the majority of the other individuals featured were new. Where do you fall in this debate?

Let’s discuss "Beautiful Doom."

Hi! Over Here!

I adored the hour. It focused on the two characters that are most beloved. Those who have been watching Grey’s Anatomy from the beginning feel a connection to these women. Nothing was proven more in this episode that these girls have grown up in a major way, but they both need help from time to time.

Goodbye Minnesota. The writers took a major chance on sending Cristina to another hospital. How was this going to work? Was it going to work? Turns out it did.

Yang developed quite the friendship with Dr. Thomas and the events here were a shock. She was able to learn from this man in a way she hasn’t learned since Dr. Burke. There had to be a reason to send Yang back to Seattle. Who would have guessed that her Clinic BFF would drop dead in the OR? Shonda... you did it again. I know I wasn’t the only one who teared up when Mr. Feeny died. William Daniels, you were a great addition to the show. Who knows, maybe he is heading back to his old stomping grounds.

The death of her dinosaur friend sent Yang back to Meredith. Is she here to stay? I’m guessing yes - and couldn’t be more happy!

This Isn’t Lexie. Meredith struggled with a case that resembled the same trauma Lexie endured in the woods. Did it hit a little close to home? Absolutely. It needed to. There has hardly been any mention of Little Grey this season. Let’s not forget that she was Mer’s sister, Jackson’s girlfriend and a co-worker and friend to everyone else.

Mer rocked it as a successful mother who needed a little help. Zola got passed around through the doctors, but Grey was able to save her patient. She even finished up with a 30-second dance party. Awesome.

3 New Faces

Grown Ups. These characters have made some serious strides since they started out at Seattle Grace. Watching Meredith get her daughter ready for day care, remembering the fish sticks for multi-cultural day, all while potty training Zola and saving a woman? It has never been more obvious that she is no longer dark and twisty. I can’t say that I don’t miss the train wreck she used to be, but Grey is all grown up. Yang too - she’s more evolved, caring, compassionate. Love it.

The switching back and forth and split screens of the two BFFs were a little much at times, but it worked. Grey’s Anatomy continues to find ways to hook its viewers back in when things haven’t been completely up to par.

Overall, a great episode. We lost a new friend but Seattle gained back an old one. Spending so much time on these characters led to some hilarious one liners that you can check out on the Grey’s Anatomy quotes page. Hit up the comments section and let us know what you thought of “Beautiful Doom.”

cont. I still LOVE you Shonda Rhimes but I hate the direction your taking my #1 show on. I keep watching because I LOVE the actors and actress on Grey's and I will remain Loyal to them until the End.

Ellen and Sandra were amazing in the episode! Why Shonda kill someone else I loved Dr. Thomas. I cried. He could have come to seattle with Cristina. At least I know you can save a 28 year old girl now. Shonda Rhimes you let us down again. You promise a Meredith breakdown and we got nothing. And me as a Lexie Fan is very upset and disappoint in the way you are treat Lexie memory. It made me CRY. It Sucks. Lexie can't even BUY a 2 hour episode like George, Mark and Denny, a Montage to music or even clips that don't have anything to do with the STUPID plane crash from you Shonda Rhimes. That not fair to her Fans. I feel you are being mean, cruel and down right low down to Lexie Fans. Because that how I feel you are being to me. Lexie was an amazing character and Chyler was amazing as her. She desevers so much more like everyone else. Chyler/Lexie was such and important part of the Grey's Family. Shonda do right by her. Better yet bring Lexie back live and Mark too. I still love you Shonda but I hate the direction the show is going. I keep watching because I LOVE the actress and actor on the show and will remain loyal to them until the End!

skipping this episode missed all the charectors spec callie and arizona ! meredith and yang arent main focus anymore

one of the best episodes of GA. high five to the writers. i think everybody was enthralled at drs.grey and yang's scenes in this episode,at last, the bff's are reunited again. i cant wait for next thursday. will the writers finally give lexie grey the proper send off. meredith already verbalized the loss of her sister.paging SR! hello! george and sloan had a decent burial, why not one for dr. lexie grey. after all, it's grey's anatomy.

Dr.PARKER is not dead. It is Dr. THOMAS who died.

The second Yang called Feeny her Minnesota Mere, I was pretty sure that he was a goner, and that was how they'd bring her back to Mercy Death. It will be interesting to see Christina interact with the interns since they are terrified of Mere - although I think the terror is transforming into awe, which really does make her the new Bailey! Which is kinda sad since it has left Bailey relegated to fairly pointless storylines.

This was a pretty good episode but I really watch for Derek. More scenes with him. Shonda keeps trying to make this show just about Meredith and Christina and that won't keep the fans.

Um Mr Jarrod Mitchell: Did you watch the promo for the next ep? The Queen of Mean is back! Loved the previously on Grey's Anatomy. We haven't had that since season 5. I hope it becomes a regular thing!

seriously TVFanatic don't put a limit on the comments!!! Overall a great episode, I hope more episodes are like this. Great combo of medicine, drama, romance, heart and humor.

I CALLED IT! I predicted her return when news of that this mer/christina centric episode was happening. Christina does not have anyone in Minnesota any more. Dr Parker was her person, now that he is dead, there isn't a reason for her to stay. She certainly was not going to stay for that skeevy chief. He thought her all she needed to know, now she will go back and work on the other part of her life that needs working on. If anyone has a problem that there was too much of one person and not of the other, then they are just ridiculous. This episode wasn't about them, it was about Meredith coming to terms with Lexie's death and Christina learning from Dr Parker. She was very closed off before, but now with her friendship with Parker she is more open and better person. Apart from Arizona all major players had a role, even tho it was for a few seconds and I'm sure that Arizona would have if Jessica Capshaw didn't just give birth at the time. Overall a good episode and a great way to set the tone for the season.
