Hart of Dixie Review: Simply Adorable

at . Comments

I am officially retitling this episode to "Adorable." Tonight featured all of the mushy and adorable scenes that make you go "aww" and "oh my goodness how sweet." By the end, I had a stupid smile on my face because it was so darn cute.

In "Achy Breaky Hearts," we had lovers breaking up, reconciling and then breaking up again. From Brick and Emily ending their love affair to Wade realizing he has real feelings for Zoe, this episode pulled on the heartstrings. Hard.

Zoe & Lemon Strategize

For the most part, the episode centered around Lavon and Ruby. Their relationship was the center of the motivation for Lemon's actions and for most of Zoe's actions. Lemon was dead set on breaking them up in for her own benefit and recruited Zoe to help. Some of me hated that Lemon was going back to her "old" devious ways and the other part of me loved that she is fighting for what she wants. Then, there was Zoe who is so clueless.

Girl, come on.

I think it's also VERY selfish of Lavon to ask Ruby to stay in the small town of Bluebell for him. If you truly love someone, you have to let him/her go, especially if that's the best thing for them. Ruby is meant for bigger and better things than Bluebell and as much as I love her character on the show, she simply should be elsewhere. Lavon said, "jobs come and go." Well, maybe in your small town - but this is a down economy where gigs are hard to find.

I died in the scene when Lemon brought a cake for Lavon and he was confessing all of those things to her. It was by far my favorite moment of theirs this whole entire series. Jaime King did such a brilliant job; you could just see the pain and longing Lemon felt for Lavon. When she finally made the decision to help him get Ruby back, it was in that moment when saw just how much Lemon has changed and matured.

Remember when everyone hated Lemon and wanted her gone? Look at her now. I knew from day one she'd be the one character that would grow more than anyone else. (Can I just say how much I loved Zoe and Lemon partnering up? Now they just need to become best friends!)

Elsewhere, Brick and Emily are adorable and I am terribly sad that they broke up! Poor Brick. I truly feel sorry for him. He was finally happy and excited to be in a relationship and then they end it. I didn't see that coming, honestly. *Sniff*

Then there was Magnolia, who I will admit I love more and more as each episode progresses, putting aside her stubbornness for her father's happiness. Her and Brick are both growing and learning how to live without Lemon in the household and I want more of this in each episode.

That little boy who was making friends with Wade has to be the most adorable little I've ever seen. His personality, his accent and his cute little chubby body had me smiling and constantly laughing. Can we bring him back? I would love nothing more than to see more of his cute talents on Dixie

Normally, I think the Wade and Zoe dynamic is one of the most boring parts of the series, but tonight was not the case. Wade FINALLY realized that he has more than just "friends with benefits" feelings towards Zoe. When he told Zoe that George didn't care they were sleeping together, my heart broke for him. Zoe, once again, is clueless. Get it together, woman!

Wade is better than George and he is the one that should end up with Zoe. Why? They are opposites and it'll be so interesting for them and their dynamic will spark. Zoe and George are boring. Sorry, but Wade and Zoe are my endgame. I am starting to believe that Wade feels the same way.

Now Wade just needs to grow a pair and fight for his woman!

Just loved last night's episode - Lots of character development and some silliness, too - perfect HOD mix. Re: Wade - I really wish they'd give him the opportunity to stand up for himself with and without Zoe - He knows (logically) that he's as good or better than anyone else in that town, but he's letting inertia keep him stuck - in his job, in his dating patterns, etc... I think it would be ideal to have him take what he's learned about himself and his interests and grow a little without Zoe - Show her what she's giving up by not seeing the potential. Re: Zoe - Jeez Louise, girl! On one of the first episodes she equated herself with Miranda from SITC - Well, the big advantage of being a "Miranda" is that you get to choose who you want to be with JUST BECAUSE you want to be with them. You don't need your partner to help define you in any way. That's why it's great to be a Miranda (vs. a Carrie, who's the type who needed a Prince Charming). Re: George - Yeah for Tansy! I just love Tansy (so shiny and happy - like sunshine on a stick). She's perfect for George, who really just wants someone to reflect his perfect golden boy light on him, and she seems like she'd be genuinely happy to do that. His need to be the star is why he came back to BlueBell, that's why Zoe would NEVER be a good match for him. He needs to be the lead/star in his relationship, and she would never really be comfortable/happy in that role. Re: Lemon - Absolutely, Lemon and Zoe are destined to be best friends - they're like the yin and yang of this town, no doubt about it.

Im so torn......George and Tansy.....Interesting Nice that Wade was concerned for her:) Hope George doesn't prove him right. She's a nice girl & deserves a good guy. I hope George is that guy. But.... I still want him & Lemon to get back together

Zoe and Wade and the possible end of their relationship: I love Wade and at time I do want to kick his butt for being immature or mean, I am still team Wade. I felt really bad when Zoe basically admitted this was temporary! The look of sadness on his face was heartbreaking! I wanted to give him a hug. Sadly I fear the return of mean Wade!

This was a pretty good episode. It dealt with realtionships.
Lavon and Rose ending and starting again: I am still not a fan or Rose and want Lemon and Lavon to get together, I hope they head that direction eventually.
Brick and Emily ending: I am not the biggest Brick fan but seeing him in a relationship that he felt so strongly about and to have her break up with him was sad, I felt bad for him. I also felt bad for Magnolia, she did not like Emily and then when she finally allowed herself too, Emily goes and breaks Bricks heart.
Tansy and George and the possible start to their relationship. I know people did say they had an issue with that but I think I will like it.
George telling Wade he knew about him and Zoe was perfect! I loved that scene. Then George telling Wade that if he feels like a place holder that he should talk to Zoe.

My heart also broke for Wade in that last scene--for both of them actually because you could tell that both of them wanted to reach out and say more but just couldn't bring themselves to do so. It was such a powerful scene (they both said so much without actually saying much of anything), a real testament to their on-screen chemistry.

@Elle-Normally, I'd be the first to complain about character consistency, especially when it comes to Zoe (mostly because she makes so many drastic swings). But for some reason, I'm not as bothered by how Wade is written this season. People really do fluctuate in how confident and clued in they are about their romantic life. Character growth/development doesn't necessarily mean unrelenting progression. @Marisa-I don't think it's unrealistic that George would have figured it out. It would be very stupid in a Clark Kent/Superman-Obvious Kind of Way that he wouldn't. But, like I said earlier, I don't buy that that would be his reaction. Everything we know about George AND how this show is written suggests there would be a freak-out and a confrontation. To have him be "eh, whatever, I'm fine with it" when he reveals his awareness X amount of time later... They're trying to grow up all the characters this season, clearly, but I don't think George is that far along yet.

Loved the wade and george scene, its true what wade said to him and it seems george has moved on from zoe a bit to easily....maybe because he was confused with his feelings for her and in fact used her as an excuse to break up with the woman he loved for 15 years...the sleepwalking episode only confirmed that he sees her has his backup for everything and not an equal like wade. episode got 1 star for having to see wade's heart break on two occasions; when zoe chose george as her confidant on the phone and her reaction to george's acknowledgement and suggestive blessing. the brick situation was sad, writers should have gone endgame there. lemon and lavon suit as friends. ruby and lavon are in two different places in life

2) the fact that wade on countless occasions this season and last wanted to be with her the writers keep on adding the george dilemma! when george and lemon were willing to elope he never thought of zoe so why must he always be brought in to ruin her moments with wade?
3) my heart broke for wade and i was screaming at my screen for zoe to run after wade and say but its you i chose not him *sigh* it so obvious they are each other's endgame on the grounds that they cause each other to grow and remain grounded. they are equals and work well together and also the passion side helps ;)

if the writers make wade and zoe anything like other sitcoms i will literally go ballistic! the reason i watch and love love love this show is for its southern charm and simplicity. leave the triangles and complications to the GG, friends basically the northerners and keep wade and zoe together! zoe needs to wake up and smell the coffee before its too late. i want her and george to remember new orleans and how they had the opportunity but george was still hung up not to mention ENGAGED to lemon. baby girl this should have already warned you what your relationship with him was going to be like...

Great episode. I totally agree that Zoe is totally clueless when it comes to Wade. I almost cried when he saw how Zoe reacted when he said that George didn't care that they were sleeping together. She just hurt him by that one reaction. She really needs to get her act together and get w/ the program that Wade is her endgame. Oh and as much as I love Ruby and Lavon I thought it was wrong of him to ask her to give up that job for him. If u love someone you would love to see them succeed in everything that they do. As long as they're happy you should be happy too. Ruby is more of a city girl that Bluebell life isn't for her. And shocker of the night.... I'm growing to like Lemon... She's matured so much. It's a wonderful thing to see. Poor Brick! I hope his love comes back I liked them together they were too cute. Next week episode looks like its going to be exciting!!! Can't wait for the auction!!!!

Hart of Dixie Season 2 Episode 8 Quotes

Conor: Why you avoiding George Tucker?
Wade: He suspects I have something that he believes he should have. If he found out I, in fact, did have it. He would be upset.
Conor: What do you have?
Wade: Uh... Um... A cookie.

Magnolia: Did you just text me?
Brick: I was looking for you!
Magnolia: Do not ever text me! Do you know how embarrassing that its!
