@san explain to me how it is crappy storytelling? Are you trying to tell me that if the roles where reversed and it turned out she was sired to Stefan and not Damon you would all still be shouting that is is crappy storytelling! No I think not...

I felt exactly the same after I watched this episode. But it' s been few hours and I've been thinking about it and I am not that mad anymore. Although I still feel that they ruined the whole scene and I am still disappointed.
Cause Elena maybe sired to Damon but it doesn't mean that she doesn't love him, she had feelings for him before, so it's not something that came with her being vampire or being sired to Damon.
I also had this idea....what if the sirebond is there because of her feelings, because she had strong feelings for him and then she was turned by his blood. We don't know how it happens that someone is sired.....there has to be something about it. And this would be nice explanation :-)

Uhm, actually, when you read most of the posts thoroughly they're NOT about Delena or Stelena, it's about crappy storytelling...

I think it makes alot of sense. What I dont want though is for Elena to start jumping back and forth from brother to brother. It's old news now and makes for very annoying tv..

But to be able to succeed at a relationship like that there has to be room for change and growing. Not happing in stefan-elena. that is why i was so happy they broke up.
aarrrg I am so mad right now! even stelena shippers have to agree this is a very messed up and extremely pathetic way to explain Damon and Elena. (might I add that she also loved Damon when human, that is what? completly gone?)

I am disgusted, mad, and mostly disappointed. If you don't want to go delena, then don't. but stop trying to force this, oh stefan is her soulmate thing. I was so happy Elena finally accepted who she was and told stefan, take me as I am, or leave me. No of course not, why would Elena finally be able to make up her mind, she is after all spineless.
I was so happy Elena and Stefan broke up in a mature, normal way. And then we FINALLY get Delena, but no..... it has to be tainted by this sirebond thing.
And Caroline? hypocrite much?? You are not going to tell me there is absolutely nothing between klaus en her.
and i agree with San, so this is just some made-up rule because what? julie plec doesn't want elena and stefan to happen? grow up, people and relationships change. apperently stefan and elena's one doesn't. And I know people stay together with their high school sweet heart, I am one of those people. But to be able to succeed at a relationship like that there has to be room

damon is not aware of the sire bond, he tried to feed her all kinds of blood, i'm sure next week will be the first damon hears about this sire crap and he'll prob wanna break it cause he does love her

I'm not concerned about the sure bond either. It's a device to keep the triangle going and the shippers watching and hoping. I've watched the seasons numerous times and it's clear from the start that Damon and Elena have the deeper bond. Sure I was disappointed that the first love scene was tainted, but mark my words, proving their love will only make them stronger. Damon and Elena will be endgame, but that is a long way away yet and as someone said, the triangle is the skeleton! It will be there til the end :)

But that's a totally different thing! If Plec really planed this ahead (I doubt it) she shouldn't have explained the Tyler siring with the avoided pain of his transformation. Which pain did Elena have to undergo before?
That's why I'm so mad about it. It just doesn't make any sense at all! Yes, it is a fantasy series. But it has been said so many times and I totally agree with it: even fantasy needs to stick to some (self-made) rules! And there never ever was any mentioning of a newborn being sired to his/her maker (like, for example, in the TRUE BLOOD series).

I feel like a lot of things need to be addressed with the characters after this episode... cuz i feel there is some inconsistency with them right now
like caroline not liking damon cuz hes bad, but she really shows no hatred towards him unless he is with elena, also the fact that she seemed open with klaus, even if it may be an act, i think there is some intrigue there
I also feel like they elena and stefan need to address more about the cure with each other, stefan has been acting out of sort lately (for understandable reasons) and i feel stefan has changed along with elena. So even if elena does get cured will she still be with stefan, will she even want the cure now that she is with damon?
IDK the only characters that i feel are making complete sense to me right now are tyler, jeremy, matt, and bonnie. I feel the others' storylines are too complex and involve conflicting and sometimes contradicting feelings

call me crazy but i just read an interview with plec about this episode, and i felt that it wasnt as bad as it seems
Yes i totally understand why delena ppl are upset, so dont get me wrong and i still dont like the love triangle being shoved down our throats

Also, i really hope that they handle the cure episode really well, and i feel like i need more insight on it from each of the characters

that was kind of a mixed ending for me. Im definetely a Damon / Elena fan.
I personally dont think its fair to say that damon used to be a baddy..that was season 1 ...every season after that, he has actually been good.
he said a few episodes back that he accepts Elena any way she is...human or vampire. he is the one that truly loves her in any shape or form. He has looked out for her from day 1, and fully respected her wishes while she was with Stefan.
I think he's changed, and Caroline needs to give him a break.
Considering what a bad guy Klaus is... she seems to be ok with him...but not with damon? That doesnt make sense to me.

@Matt- Any chance Julie Plec actually reads this review's?
Not surprisingly but a lot of comments nevertheless - Agree with most of you, they should have taken a break from the love triangle. Introduce it latter on in the season if you must, but this back and forth does get irritating after a point.

Okay im a stelena shipper (but its not the reason why im invested in the show) but yes even i thought it was a cop out.
However, I will try and explain why i think the writers are doing this. I feel like this opens up a new storyline and i actually feel like it will go somewhere. Also, i mean come on guys when does this show ever let any couple be happy.
Also, I get why a lot of ppl think stefan and caroline were annoying but tbh if any ordinary person were in that situation they would react the same way. I feel that the writers were so worried about making the characters perfect in the earlier series and now ppl dont like them acting more realistic. Just my 2 cents, but yeah i do have torn feelings about this episode, i just hope what they did here pays off in the end.

And yeah that story of the Hummingbird by Klaus was beyond pathetic !! ....Way to make the supposed 1st Vampire of all time/Original Original/Big bad come off as cute and cuddley as Barney the Dinosaur.

Just imagine nobody tunes in next week ;) Not because you're Delena or Stelena, but because the writers really f*cked up a three years build-up, threw in an implausible explanation (btw promo for next week suggests they will follow that line) and trolled their fans.
Even as someone who doesn't care whom Elena picks I feel really, really angry because of that lazy kind of writing. Reminds me of that "explanation" in die Twilight-Saga why Bella was attracted to that werewolfguy.
I mean, the writers HAVE a new triangle with that Tyler/Caroline/Klaus stuff (think about that what you want), why the hell do they have to keep the other one alive by all means?

hold up guyz i thk caro n steph lost control.ther iz no sire bond between delena guys remember from s3 ep 18 until 22 elena had no reply to stepf saying that she got feelings 4 damon though we all seen it in ep19 of s3 she had them 4 him.the thing iz that ths iz a luv triangle.bt there are no sire bonds with delena.thats my pov.

it was the perfect episode until the last scene when caroline was talking to stefan. i'd never thought i'd say this, but i hated caroline today! she was beyond annoying, i felt like i needed to bitch-slap her.
it was a really really stupid move by Plec. Sire bond? really bitch?

As you put in your excellent article - "there is a line" and I never thought I'd say this as even though I'm all for Delena I've happily watched the twists and turns of all the story lines up till now and am quite happy with the Stelena storylines - but now the writers have just crossed that line and I'm not sure whether to continue with the show now.
The ending ruined this episode for me and I really don't want to watch it any more as I just don't trust the writers to have any sensitivity any more and feel completely used - I can almost see the writers discussing how they would lure the fans into one direction whilst having a good laugh at hor disappointed we'd all be when they threw the sire bond in.
Its not even a question of who gets the girl - either is fine with me though I would prefer Damon - but to put the Caroline scenes straight in the middle of the first time Delena gets together and then suggest its just because she is sired and the feelings are not honest is just to
Damon: She's strong and crafty and you'll die. Elena: At least I'll die trying.
