Best Funeral Ever: Actually Coming to TLC!

at .

You may wanna duck, Honey Boo Boo. The bar for reality television has just been dropped once again.

TLC announced today plans to air Best Funeral Ever, a program that will focus on the uniquely-themed ceremonies organized by the Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas.

“A home-going is much different than a funeral, it’s a celebration," Golden Gate CEO John Beckwith Jr. says of his company's methods. "The Golden Gate experience is our version of the traditional African American home-going celebration. We do not produce generic funerals; everybody’s experience has to be different.”

Examples of such home-goings include: a barbecue-inspired event; a holiday celebration with elves; and an amusement park-anchored event that includes rides and games.

Best Funeral Ever premieres on December 26 and will be turned into a series if the ratings are there. Why do we somehow have no doubt they will be?

In other reality show news, The CW has given the green light to a Hunger Games-like series titled The Hunt.

Stacey: Do you know of any fires in this area?
Frank Kovick: There was one in ’41.
Stacey: There was one in ’41? Where?
Frank Kovick: In Sunrise.
Stacey: Sunrise…
Frank Kovick: It was huge, it destroyed most of the town.
Stacey: Really?!
Frank Kovick: Founders Day fire. They called it the “Miracle Fire” because nobody died.
