Does anyone else think that Mr. Golds son, is Henry's father? Wouldn't that be interesting to see if Henry can make Mr. Gold do good things, just like he has done for Regina.
@swan30 I thought she might die too. Or that she should've suffered some effect. I watch the show with my friend and I actually told her: "she'll die". But whatever. Magic is unpredictable. XP
@Ace I agree about the bean and the ashes. It's literally what I thought.
I love how Emma's magic was addressed throughout both seasons and now it's finally becoming really important (and that it didn't just happen out of the blue).
LOL at how Ruby was there but basically did NOTHING but fly through the air. That girl needs a storyline asap.
I fear what's ahead. Love this show.

I don't think the Bean requires a navigating medium, like the ash from the wardrobe. The bean, in itself, creates portals and it's up to the bean-user to determin the destination. Remember when Hook used it to open a portal to Neverland? The compass wasn't in his possession either.
I think the compass was needed because the ash from the wardrobe was badly damaged, although the lake repaired it to create the portal, the compass was needed to give it direction.

@Isoron
I don't believe Emma is "immune" to Cora, as she's shown to be susceptible to Cora's magic. True Love is the most powerful magic, and I think Emma, being in the Enchanted Forest, subconsciously kickstarted her own magical abilities - almost like an inherent defense system.
Perhaps maybe when Cora tried to go after Emma's heart, especially acting upon love (sacrificing herself for MM), Emma's magic manifested.

@queenbee94,
If all worlds were no exception to the Dark Curse, then why did Cora return to the Enchanted Forest? She possessed magic in Wonderland, and she had subjects that served her already that would've been protected by the barrier spell... so why return?
I think the Dark Curse only pulled the ones from the Enchanted Forest. Just because the last we saw of Jefferson and Dr. Frankenstein doesn't necessarily mean they didn't make it back to the Enchanted Forest.
OUAT storytelling is, something frustratingly so, non-linear. So we could see the events in the future, and in the past, and still not know the inbetween.

This was the best episode of the season so far. It had me on the edge of my seat. But I agree with the people that say they should have been good enough to invite Regina to eat with them.

Dr Whale is Frankenstein... how do you not know... It's one of the most famous literary books in history. And it's literally made OBVIOUS through the episode "doctor": the lightening, the creation of his "broker-monster", the dialogue "what is more power than magic? "science". How...
The question was asked on where they got the ship. That was implied when Hook said that they would have to go to Wonderland. This was to get his ship.
The producers were asked (on TV Guide) why Emma is Swan. I think this episode answered the question (at least for me). When she turned out to be so powerful (and able to stop Cora from removing her heart) she morphed from being just a plain human (the Ugly Duckling) into her real status as a Swan (ie: She come into her role as the Fairy Tale Character that she is).

@Ace: Jefferson probably never left Wonderland. Last we saw him in Wonderland he was going crazy over hats and the loss of his daughter. First time we see him in storybrooke he is still obsessed with his hats and hasn't reconciled with his daughter yet.
The curse transported people from all kinds of worlds (i.e. Dr Whale from horror movie world or wherever he's from) so Wonderland won't be an exception.
Since Cora was back in fairytale land with hook and protected herself with her jesus stick, she wasn't transported to Storybrooke.

Here's my take - Emma is immune to Cora because she is the product of true love. But Henry is also the product of true love .. and I bet Neal comes back this season - he was really Emma's true love and he really sacrificed for her without knowing he had a son. And somehow all this is going to bite August in the ass.
@serenityq2,she came back through with Hook.He came through using the hat portal and bringing the dead guard with him, then took Cora back with him instead.2 go through, and 2 go back.
Actually the compass didn't open the portal, the ash from the wardrobe did.The compass was only to direct the portal to the right world.Which kind of begs the question of how the magic bean was able to take them directly to the right world.
I want to know where the heck Cora is keeping her heart! What's up with that? Also,if that magic that Regina and Rump used on the portal would've killed anybody that came through, how was Regina able to absorb it into her without dying?

I did not expect them to include Regina...sorry one good deed does not redemption make and they had things to talk about. However she is down and here comes Cora. Also interested to see how Hook plays into things as it seems he could go either way. At this point I am sorry could care less about Aurora & Mulan but perhaps that will change.
Once again the clothes from the land they came from are so beyond words. So far I have liked the trouser gown stuff as most of it has been in leather like fabric but that gown that Regina had on with the jeweled back was exceptional. She was simply stunning in it along with her other Evil Queen ensembles. I love good but the Evil has something about it also but is that not the way it is?

Excellent fall finale, it left me hanging on just enough with enough intrigue to come back, but didn't leave me insane and screaming at the tv (which I have done before on differnet shows). I did kind of feel bad for regina at the end when everyone left and Henry let go of her hand. I know she can't really be good and Mr. Gold will keep her just evil enough but I did feel bad for her.
@KansasGuest The only question I am sure of you asked was 3. No Cora doesn't have the dust, they used it to open the portal in the "lake." And were about to jump in when MM and Emma showed up so no it is not in her possession anymore. But they didn't need it because Hook had the bean and used it to get to Storybrooke. Shall be interesting when it comes back in Jan.

Excellent episode! But, people, help me out here. I'm losing track of what happened to the magical elements.
1) Compass - Snow & Emma used it to get back to Storybrooke. Its purpose has been fulfilled.
2) Magic Bean from the Giant - Cora & Hook used it to find Storybrooke. Alas, this implies that Hook killed the Giant since it was hanging around his neck, right?
3) Enchanted Tree Dust - Still in Cora's possession & never used because they had the bean instead, correct?
BTW, did anyone believe Hook when he told Emma he wouldn't have left her behind like she did him? He would have slit Belle's throat in a second for no good reason if Regina hadn't stepped in. Then, he turns around & catches Aurora's heart & tries to act heroic. No, he doesn't have a heart of gold. He has a black heart & a survivor's instinct.

Regina should have been included in the celebration dinner at the end of the episode. It was she who pulled the magical trap out of the well out of love for Henry. Cutting her out will only encourage Regina to go back to the dark side.

i think they really should have invited regina to have lunch with them because she did have a major part in taking care of henry and opening the portal for them.
she really has changed but this constant doing good and just continually losing henry to emma might steer her in the wrong direction again.

I'm glad this chapter is over, I have a feeling after S1 being 1 story, S2a an other Chapter and with S2b we begin an new different story and I hope some new Fairytale Characters!

Don't count Aurora and Mulan out just yet; they just started a new quest! And in this quest, she'll most likely train to fight, under Mulan's guidance. While Snow had the hardship of Queen Regina to live under and training most of her adult life, Aurora was sleeping; now that Aurora is awake, she might prove herself just a capable "warrior-princess" as Snow.
