TV Guide Magazine confirms that the TNT series will deal with Larry Hagman's tragic death… by killing off his character of J.R. Ewing.
For real this time, as opposed to the iconic 1980 cliffhanger that asked: Who Shot J.R.?
“We all felt having J.R. die of natural causes would have been completely inappropriate, not only to the character, but also to Larry Hagman,” executive producer Cynthia Cidre said of the storyline, which received a green light from Hagman's son and from Patrick Duffy.
Dallas premieres Monday, January 28 at 9/8c on TNT and J.R.'s murder - at the hands of an unknown assailant - will take place around midseason.
