Grey's Anatomy > Grey's Anatomy Review: Moving Forward > Comments Page 2
@Cleo, Mark did get a settlement hence why Callie was there, his money would go to his daughter. I also think since Lexie like Mark was named during the meeting by lawyer to discuss the settlement, she got a settlement as normally if there is death, rather instant or not you have to pay the family of the the deceased.
Perry is a regular over at Scandal an Cyrus is very important so it would be hard for him to make an appearance considering Thatcher is important character for Grey's...scheduling conflicts is nothing new besides Scandal and Grey's film in different locations, they don't share a same lot like PP does.
This is the first time I completely disagree with tv fanatic Grey review.
I thought it was a smart episode, very mature and non-soapy in the best possible way.
Personally I'd hated Jo up until now, especially with Karev, but this episode showed something new from both of them, and I am cheering this will evolve, if nothing else, in a great friendship. I was surprised there was some really good acting done by Camilla, something I haven't seen from her before. I can not understand why you would wish for Dr Lucy to come back, I hated the actress, she was very artificial, but the character was just too straight forward for Karev. Karev is all about being honest and direct, but he's still a subtle guy, and he doesn't need someone who has to announce every feeling and flirt in such a self-important way.
Cristina is happy, she's having fun, and the fact she knew Mer was pregnant, and handled it that way shows that she and that friendship has evolved to a fantastic level - on which the two
@Cleo Arizona might be higher ranked than Jackson but he doesn't report to her per se, it is primarily a plastic surgery case (w peds probably brought in as a consult) and Jackson did mention that his actual superior (& plastic attending) signed off on his more drastic than Sloan's plan.
And Jackson has his shining moments in surgery too (most notably when he emerged as the Gunther a few seasons back)
Again, Jackson is not an attending, he's a fellow. In my opinion Callie has treated Jackson far worst than Arizona did. And Arizona is in a higher position than Jackson (she's the head of her department) therefore his superior. Jackson was working on a PEDs case.
Insurance companies only have a timeframe to argue that loophole and it is well before the case is heard by the judge. If they didn't argue it then, then they have to pay.
I loved that Jackson stood up to Arizona. She's one of the most irritating characters. Too condescending for words. I like Owen and Yang together. It works. Derek can be such a self righteous jackass. Out of nowhere he decides to blame Owen for everything which it was too many factors to put it all on him. Plus he was Chief before. He knows what type of decisions are made. Hell, the hospital got shot up and people died under his watch. No suits came from that, no responsibility for crappy security features. No blame. Bailey's story was hilarious. I don't mind Alex and princess as friends but unfortunately I doubt it'll Stay that way. The naivete of the settlement is shocking. Did they honestly think they'd still be working there after that? And that was before Owen found out the hospital could close. Insurance companies and their loopholes.
@CleoArizona is NOT Jackson's superior. He's an attendee now. And as per usual she interfered with stuff when it wasn't necessary. I'm sorry but she can be rude, condescending, and a royal pain in the ass. Why not respect the fact that he was Mark's progeny. The chosen one who kicked ass in plastics. Mark is gone now, and it was clear Arizona wasn't coming to grips with that and overstepping her bounds. She still treats them like residents or interns rather than peers. You can't instill in them all these teachings and then not trust your own work and their abilities. Also has always been inconsistently written, sure at one point he was klutzy and botching surgeries(as were most of them honestly) but when he first came he was the rockstar giving Yang a run for her money. Avery only lacked skill after that shooting in the hospital. I chalked it up as PTSD which he clearly had.
On to the settlement:
To my understanding, Mark & Lexie didn't get a settlement, it was for the SURVIVORS of the crash. No proxies necessary.
Ok I have to say this, fist off it's not Arizona's fault that the plan crash therefore causing the insurance not to pay the settlement. Secondly, when had Jackson every been known for his surgical skills? If anything he has been known has a clutz in the OR. He's botched more procedures than he has not. Third, Arizona is Jackson's superior, and he isn't even an attending he's a fellow. If he wants to do the procedure his way fine, but don't be a condescending a-hole about it, to his superior no less.
Another reason to dislike Arizona. I wish that crashed just ended her character. Alex took the words out my mouth. I wish he were on the plane too. Would have made for better scenes this season and given Callie a much better arc. However, my only problem is why Thatcher wasn't there or hasn't been in this season at all? The actor is on Scandal and must have a good relationship with Shonda, so I can't see how hard it would be to have his guest star for an episode or two? It would make for some good scenes with Meredith. I would also like to see Molly and Meredith's 4/5 year old niece come into it this season. Speaking of family, where did Derek's sister go? Wasn't it meant to be a multiple arc?
I have always been an April sympathizer and I am SO glad that she's not written to be some neurotic shrill this time around, that final scene with Jackson (and later, the patient of the week) really took advantage of Ms. Drew's acting skills. Here's hoping for more good scripts coming her way.
As for the payout, my guess is that the doctors will "reinvest" it back into the hospital and be board members/partners themselves.
The end was very interesting with the loophole from the insurance company. Can't wait to see how that plays out.
I have never liked Christina and Owen together and hated when they got married but I like the fun, playful side now of their new relationship.
It was sad to see how sad April was when Jackson told her about him and Stephanie. Hopefully these two can find their way back to each other.
It was good to see Meredith be there for Richard. I didn't like to see him feel so guilty.
I was so happy to see Jackson stand up to Arizona. I hated how everyone wanted him to be just like Sloan. Jackson appreciated everything he learned from Sloan but he has to be his own man and do his own procedures.
Good episode overall.
Does anybody know what april specialty is? Is she in trauma cos owen was preparing her before she left for the boards
I think that people ought to keep in mind that Owen is not the only person responsible here. Yes, it would have been nice to insist on researching the new plane company, but it wasn't necessarily his responsibility to do that. He was busy running a hospital. Also, the insurance policy would have been valid, with no loopholes, had Arizona not thrown Alex off the plane and took his seat herself. THEN there wouldn't have been three attendings on the plane. Just Mark and Derek. So with that logic, Arizona was as much to blame as Owen.
And can I just say that Arizona is annoying? I know the Calzona fans will have my hide, but she is so arrogant and condescending. She treated Mark like crap just because she was jealous of his relationship with Callie and that wasn't the first time she's gone after Jackson and belittled his skills.
None of them deserved to be in a plane crash, but I have to keep reminding myself "it's just fiction".
buying out the hospital seems like the only reasonable option right now..even though predictable..
and frankly i think owen will (or should) remain chief..basically for three reasons--
1) he does a damn good job of running a surgical staff being a trauma surgeon.
2) no other takers(read-deserving candidates) for the chief job, at least at the moment.
3) putting webber back as chief every other season has become repetitive, and not in a good way!
Does anyone agree that the "victims: will chose not to take the money, unless, GA is being cancelled or they move to a different hospital, which I doubt
Bailey didn't kill Adele...Adele had a heart attack.
to answer why Lexie's dad is not there is because Jeff Perry is on Scandal now and is unavailable to be the dad so most likely Meredith is there by proxy for him and the other sister is still overseas.
I am not sure is girl Sloan has Mark legally named as her father and besides she ran out on him so why should she get something. Also Callie is Sofia's mother so is Mark's kid so she can be there by proxy. However I do think Mark had will so anything Mark gets it goes to Sofia by default.
HOW IS BAILEY JUST OKAY WITH KILLING ADELE?
What I don't get is why isn't mark n lexie next of kin not involved in the law suit. For lexie it would e her dad n for mark it would his oldest daughter not callie. It makes no sense to me.
At the time of the plane crash Meredith was not a attending. Mark, Derek and Arizona were attendings. Meredith, Cristiana and Lexi were residents
Great episode but I am a big confused
Meredith, Mark, Dereck are attendings right? so Arizona in addition would have made it 4, so when the board lasdy says "the minute Robbins boarded the plane they violated the policy, well no, the policy was already broken without Arizona, so I ma not understanding why the board lady is saying that.. any ideas?
I thought that this was one of the best episodes in recent memory. IT felt like the old Grey's. It was quirky but not because everyone was acting awkward. It had some wonderful moments - and the usual 10 mins to the end of the episode didn't have everyone in some state of tears.
It just felt right.
Also glad Jackson stood up to Arizona. When did she become such a fan of Mark? She did not like Mark and Mark was the one who worked hard at being friends with her stupid butt. Never have liked Arizona don't like her now. It should have been Callie and Mark not Callie with Arizona. I loved it then they young man told Jackson Mark told me what works for me is not going to work for you. You have to go your own way. Everyone knew that Jackson would go with the surgery he wanted. Way to go Jackson!
I thought the episode was good and nice to see how everyone trying to move on. Will be interesting to see what happens with the hospital and everyones 15 mil. How about the hairball? Ewwwwww!! But I really wanted to smack that mother right up side of the head!!! Poor kid
I love Alex and Jo together. Alex has always gone for sex first and then what. You have to have something besides sex for a relationship to work. Them being friends first is best. Owen and Christina are better as lovers and friends instead of being married. Baily was funny about simple sex and not getting crazy. Don't like April and Jackson together. She is too much of coward and she only wants him in secrect and when someone else has him. Stupid girl! Can't stand McNightmare. Why is he mad at Owen? did they really think they could sue the hospital and it would not have an effect? That's right Christina Mo Money Mo Problems!
