The Devil's Cherry, I think, lifted the Jane character off the writer's page. This episode for me made Jane's charater more beliveable. It added dimension to the character and for me it made him more lovable. It showed a realness you don't see much in acting roles. I don't think anybody else but Simon Baker could have pulled this piece of writing off. The writing was very deep and I think more credit should be given to the writer's for this piece of writing.

Red Bulls is just good writing. My favorite scene was when Jane follows the couple into the game room and starts eating and drinking the couples food knowing all along he is really irritating them. He totally disregards the husband by not looking at him while questioning him about what's in his pocket. WHAT'S IN YOUR POCKET? YOU JUST KEEP TAPIN IT, TAP, TAP, TAPIN IT. MY GUESS IS.... DRUGS. Then he tests the woman's resolve by asking her for lemons and insults the husband again by telling him he's going to stay and talk to his beautiful wife after the husband asks him to leave. The whole episode was great!

  3. mimi

ahah Ani he certainly is charming!

I agree the pilot is a fab episode, I can't remember what red bulls is, will have a look!

  4. anitraward1

AND HE IS SUCH A GOOOOOOOD LOOKING PRANKSTER!

  5. anitraward1

Also this is where the mystery was set up and I love a good mystery.

  6. anitraward1

The pilot sets the tone for the whole series. Jane is shown to be a very charismatic, intelligent prankster that totally disregards the hierarchy of society. He seemed to be amused by the fact that the upper crust thinks they can justify and hide their criminal activities. He got a big kick out of setting them up, playing with them, busting them......And then laughing at them in the end! Now that's a very funny type of justice!

  7. anitraward1

Wow mimi! I have three that are my very favorites. The pilot, Red Bulls and The devil's Cherry.

  8. anitraward1

The description is for the original Red John. The rest are walking in his footsteps and don't use his style of killing. Red John kills those who imitate his style!

  9. anitraward1

You know, all of this talk has made me think about something we haven't discussed before. Now we know Red John has his minion's placed all over the place. Why not have one right in the CBI inner circle. A person they work with everyday and is privy to all the goings on! It seems plausible that at some point they will start to look at each other and question which amoung them is a minion? I could see Red John trying to turn the group against itself. It would be a great ploy to shake Jane out into the open!

  10. mimi

so ani, what's your fav epi?

  11. mimi

ahah yes I agree, and Rosalind described RJ as being a normal size, not too muscular/fat, nor too thin if I remember correctly but then again if RJ is many people then it becomes irrelevant.

  12. anitraward1

Also, they showed Red John's arm when he's sitting in a chair looking at a TV. They showed his shoulder down to his hand. The person looks more slender then CBI Ron. Of course he could have gained some weight over the years, especially since Red John likes watching TV! LOL!

  13. mimi

ys ani you're right, he's probably a minion but indeed too insignificant to be RJ!

  14. anitraward1

RIGHT! There is no way he could have missed it. He saw it. There could be something going on with CBI Ron but it's not Red John. A minion maybe and he would be low on that food chain.

  15. anitraward1

I'm with black white and red all over it. There is no way CBI RON could be Red John. What would be the point? There is nothing about him that would warrant the title of Red John. It would be like waiting for a fire cracker to go off. You wait.... your excitment builds...... and then..... you lean back......squint your eyes and.........! It's CBI Ron. Nope! that doesn't play real well!

  16. mimi

ok.. well hard to say, I 'd say he couldn't not see it because the guy doesn't hide it. weird. also why would they add him to that scene as we know everything has a meaning. but I don't know what to think..

  17. mimi

ahah amazing! ok I'm off to watch that part about Ron, will tell you what I think.. brb

  18. anitraward1

Hi mimi, Huisclothes was toying around with some thoughts about Stiles and when I read her post that scenario popped in my head. So I wrote it out for fun to see what it would look like and it turned out better then I thought! It actually could have been a great ending! I NEED MY MENTALIST FIX!

  19. anitraward1

Huisclothes, I just now went back and looked at that scene in Bloodshot a few times. CBI Ron very clearly looks down at the gun and then takes off! CBI Ron did see that gun! There is no way he could not have seen it. If you follow CBI Ron's eyes they look down at the gun and then he takes off. Please look at it again and then tell me what you think!

  20. mimi

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH 7 days to go!!!! we can do it!

  21. mimi

    wow amazing comments here again!

ani god you made me LMAO! love your theory about Jane and RJ being brothers! that would be just amazing.
I also hope Ron is not RJ but in every case we'll probably be disappointed. We have seen him so someone on here has definitely come up with his name at one point. we'll have to be patient. I agree that for secrecy purpose, the actors should not know who is RJ but we don't know if they trust their actors or not. I remember once watching a show, there was an intrigue for a long time and I was shocked when I later watched an interview of some actors saying they didn't know to the very last minute who was x. I thought they knew all along. I guess as Watcher says, some can't keep their mouth shut. The actor tells his wife, who once drunk tells her girlfriends who tells other friends and in the end all California knows and more..

  22. huisclothes

still wondering, could red john be stiles' estranged son?

  23. huisclothes

@b&w&r re: rebecca's poisoner getting out of the cbi. so right. that was so irritating that patrick, who was quick enough of mind to race downstairs shouting to the guards not to touch her, decides to punch the wall rather than seal the building to trap the killer. how about cho? earlier in the ep, he took command so thrillingly. why wasn't he yelling "lock it down, on my authority" the moment jane took off? always bothered me. such an excellent episode.

  24. huisclothes

@b&w&r re: the incredible nothingness of ron being red john. agree with you. ron's not even an enigma, he's the null set. it would be a tremendous letdown. indeed, what would be the take-away after 5 years of ron being red john? you never know? don't that just beat all? that just shows to go you?
don't think it's him. ron popping up at lisbon's party to shake her hand is just them screwing with us. and if not, i'm speechless. and as you might gather, i don't get speechless.

  25. huisclothes

@rationalgal. in bloodshot, cbi ron pauses when he sees van pelt's boyfriend who pulls it together and acts normally so ron doesn't notice the gun. he drives off. lisbon's wheels kept turning when she got off the phone from van pelt (she said, "that was weird" to cho) and trusting her instincts, came back to cbi.
regarding roll tide. my understanding was that red john gleaned that info from kristina or from the waiter who was his boy -- maybe trained like a mentalist (patrick could vamp this) to play along with whatever trash kristina came up with. re the limo. true, we've only seen rj associated with a limo twice. and only in the season 4 finale for sure.
maybe he went to his prom the night before and still had a couple of hours to return it.
