I'll try to name a few that may or may not have been mentioned 1) Why did RJ target Wainwright? We have our theories, but we still have no good answer, and there has to be one. 2) Why did RJ target Hightower? There's no good answer, thats 2 top dogs in the CBI, RJ clearly has a thing for targetting them, and we have no idea why. On that note, why wasn't Minelli targeted? 3) How do these insiders conceal themselves and communicate? Jane gave some nonsense in the opener to fool Minelli but we don't really have any good ideas about how the CBI insiders work together. Do they even know who all is working with them in the CBI for RJ? 4) What's the source of what RJ targets---how does he make these connections, where does he recruit from? IN the finale Jane told Bertram he thought RJ had connections from top officals all across the state. How can this cover up go unnoticed? There's just way too many inside jobs, and unless the show can come up with a good way to see how they all originate an

@anitraward1 basically mentioned all the suspicion and deceitful mole type shady acts in the CBI so I won't ramble on about them individually, but it speaks to one of the big themes about the show: Inside jobs. Here's a question, think about the last time a case of the week didn't in some way involve an inside job or someone betraying those he was with? Really, when was the last time? The show has ridden that theme to death, and the fact one of the big things Bruno hinted at this summer was the idea that we'd be introduced to new characters and not know who was an RJ friend and that Jane doesn't trust the FBI were what to watch for is very telling. They're going down the same path they did in season 3. But to get back to the CBI, there are so many things the show has to tie together, and they probably won't get to 80% of it.

@Anitaward1 is on fire, there is SO much nastiness in the CBI, its like a sorority with all the backstabbing only there's an evilness and willingness to do anything to bend the rules and manipulate people at a level all the way to killing those in the CBI. It is an organization about vanity(all these type of organizations are but its especially apparent with this), Wainwright's focus was always about how things made the CBI look, their reputation and what the CBI was responsible for. Bertram is obsessed with PR and how the CBI looks. What's interesting is in the opener how CBI-FBI were able to orchestrate such a huge con job to conceal Wainwright's cause of death. To boot they were both very willing and cooperative to do so and Jane was able to blackmail Bertram on the basis of how the CBI would look and the cover up. Heck, even the judge, the first thing he said is, "you all are lying through your teeth to cover up something big".

OK! I wasn't done! This thought is on the Red Barn episode! What if Jane now realizes that Red John is closer than he ever imagined and that's the reason for the lock on the door! I don't think he would lock a person in there.

  5. anitraward1

I can't take all the credit, what you all are posting is leading me to my deductions. You all are posting more information than you know! AND THANK YOU!

  6. anitraward1

Last thing! No! Really! Why would Susan Darcy have the FBI go after the whole CBI team and say GET THEM DEAD OR ALIVE! Really! She was trying to put a hit on the whole CBI team and only managed to get Wainright. If you remember right Susan Darcy took all the Red John files and then tries to place a hit on the whole CBI team? Seems like she was trying to clean up some Red John DIRT! And isn't it kind of funny that she just disappeared?

In no other series I can think of has there been a more constantly streaming parade of evil moles than on The Mentalist in the CBI agency. There absolutely has to be a reason. Someone high up in the organization or in its controlling agencies has to be calling the shots. It's almost like the CBI, FBI and maybe even Homeland are being used as Red John's personal intelligence and executive organization, with a built in shadow shell to achieve his goals. Red John is CBI's Count Dracula and he's creating vampire minions in the CBI. I'd like to find that casket room! Maybe it's deep in the tombs of Visualize! lol, obviously. but not :)

Your catalogue of Evil Moles on Parade is positively illuminating, anitraward1.

  8. anitraward1

I DON'T KNOW DOROTHY? BUT I DON'T THINK WE ARE IN KANSAS ANYMORE!

  9. anitraward1

In the episode Red John's friends How did Red John get to Jared before the CBI team. AND GUESS WHO WAS IN THE BACK SEAT WITH JARED? CHO! Tell me why Jared was allowed to get a cheeseburger instead of spilling his guts first? Jared said I'll sing like a bird if you get me out of here! I would have fed him like one until he talked! Jane quit the CBI to get the information, don't you think he would have beat the information out of that little shit! CHEESEBURGER, AHHH, NO! whap! NOW TALK! WOULD YOU LIKE FRIES WITH THAT PUNK!

  10. anitraward1

OK! I SEE ANOTHER CAT MOVING AROUND IN THE BAG! HERE WE GO! What if Red John works for the government and has connections to Visualize. May Visualize put him in there. It would explain how he has so much access! CBI, FBI, CIA, Homeland Security. That could be the half of it that Stiles was talking about!

  11. anitraward1

I forgot about the gaurd that Rebecca reconized deep inside a CBI corridor! The one that killed her. He was walking amoung guards that should have know each other. That corridor was packed with guards!

  12. anitraward1

Entwife, don't you think this is a little more than suspicious?

  13. anitraward1

HERE'S SOME MORE! Bertram-Cho and Le Raoche knowing Blake poetry well. Also what outsider could have walked into the CBI without keys and burned up a prisoner? You have to have a ID to get in the gate! Tell me this, why is Van Pelt such a dirt magnet? Why did Minelli really leave and right after the murder's too? The only people that don't show up anywhere is Lisbon and Rigsby.

  14. Entwife

anitraward1, I know. It seems like our trusty CBI team is living in a den of snakes!

  15. anitraward1

WAIT! I forgot about Hightower being set up- come on!

  16. anitraward1

Also 4 people killed-sure there is nothing going on here. I will be waiting to see the Red John simley face show up on a wall at the CBI soon!

  17. anitraward1

Now that I think about it, look at all the dirt inside the CBI. Brenda, Rebecca and O'Laughlin. Ardiles with close ties-Dirty. Susan Darcy with close ties-suspicious and shot Wainright. Jane wandering in off the streets and getting his hands on a major case. What is going on here? Brett Stiles saying he was friends with a president. Jane works for the CBI but uses Stiles to get favors and information on people. Stiles-close ties-a monster. What goes on in that place, the CBI? Why isn't this being questioned?

    hiusclothes that's a good idea!
dont have many ideas in mind right now but I'd be interested to read others comments!

Bonaduz I agree with you! it's so good to have a place where we cango a bit crazy about the series without having someone roll their eyes at us!

I was wondering if RJ was hypnotizing his minions. because they all have the same words coming out of their mouth, that they love him, that he's a good man, that Jane is very much like him etc and they seem to believe that killing is actually a good thing, it reminds me of that episode where Rigsby get hypnotised and almost throws Jane from a building's top.
It's either that or he manages to turn them but how can he do that? hypnosis is a tool and they refer to it so often.

    wondered..

Hiusclothes the game sounds fun! I'm in! Like I said this Stuff is great fun and I am enjoying it a great deal!

  21. anitraward1

I can see some of the holes in my theory and I couldn't see Lorelei with Jane's father either! But here is what I think does not exclude it. T. Carter talked about plastic surgery and how he was able to blend in to society. This is also where I believe Brett Stiles can be excluded. Also Jane's father stalked a dying mark all the way to the hospital. What if Jane's father is someone we have seen in the series with a new face? If Jane is a chip off the ole block, why wouldn't his father have the same or above intelligence level? What if this person works in the CBI, it would explain how they changed the camera's and can access the computer network.

i propose as we wind down the work we'd done on red corvette and get ready for what we believe will be a strong and illuminating episode. we've spent two weeks spectating on what will happen. just thought it might be fun if any of your prognosis about what would happened wound up in the episode you', you write a comment called "I CALLED IT, citing the orginal comment and how you think that comment has been integrated in the episode. MIGHT BE FUN. FEEL FREE TO PULL IN COMMENTS YOU MADE ON PRIOR EPISODES. WHATYA SAYY???

@euterpe ooh. i like that wedding ring thing. so good. that's a perfect thing to plant and then have pop up again. it would be chilling in a movie to see it rather innocently in the first act and suddenly have it take on horrible implications at the end of act two.
ok, i'll digress. i found patrick saying that in fugue in red really distasteful. one, because it's distasteful. two because it's stupid -- it would make women stay away. three, because why the hell (i keep asking this) would this man have any trouble attracting women? the guy's one of the reigning beauties of our time. it bugged me.
also bugged me that he gave that woman who signed him out of the hospital a diamond bracelet. had they slept together? did he do it to get her to sleep with him? really seemed like a loser. but to your point, so did jane senior.

  24. euterpe

@huisclothes - I concur with your opinion on Jane's father. I never got the impression that he was a loving father or husband. All he cared about was money and viewed his son as a mealticket. As for still wearing the ring... in 'Fugue in Red' Jane told Lisbon there was no better way to earn a woman's trust that to wear a wedding ring. Maybe that little pearl of wisdom he learned from Daddy Dearest.

  25. huisclothes

@watcher keep forgetting to mention this but your comment about red john offering a dental plan was really funny.
