(continued)

And speaking of that footman, I can see how the sideburns might throw you, but if you want lessons in masculinity, I wouldn't make the Gaelic Mrs. Danvers your first stop.

And speaking of her, when you're invited to someone's home, you don't enter empty-handed and you don't insult your hostess. It's just as well your chickens have come home to roost--you should feel right at home since you were obviously raised in a barn somewhere.

I KNEW Molesley would make a cock-up of it at the cricket match. However I must congratulate him on making cricket sound so....oh, what are the words....BLOODY UNBELIEVABLY BORING!!!!!!!

As for Rose, I'm not sure why she was brought in--I'm guessing they need a new young female character to replace Lady Sybil and this was some kinda test. Rose's character seems destined for a quick exit, but perhaps she'll be back.

One final note to the Crawleys: Do you think Lady Sybil would have liked you to use her memory as an instrument of guilt and emotional extortion? There were WAAAAAY too many references to "what Sybil would have wanted" in this episode.

EXCELLENT review Carissa; thank you! This was an amazing episode--we got to see a lot of plot elements unfold AND get resolved in the same ep given the extended length.

Well Carson turned out to be a turd in tails didn't he? The senior staff and even your own master know Thomas is gay and it makes little difference to them. As the reviewer says, get the log outta your ass; if it stays in there any longer, it'll turn to kindling...or matchsticks. Oh...when a footman with less than 1 year on the job blackmails you, HE'S the one you kick to the curb without a character--unless blackmail is something you espouse. And it never occurred to suspect O'Brien in any of this? Your waistcoat too tight?
