This episode was FANTASTIC. The best of the best. Yes I agree no Cath, very happy over that, there would have been no place for her. Started out with action right from the beginning to the end. I really dont see the point of Cath anyhow. In the original series McGarrett did not have a Cath and did very well. It was truely all H5O. As far as Danno rantly big deal it was so quick and fast that it really was not that noticeable. The end was awesome. Every man I believe would want to hear those words out of there father. Peter Lenkov koodoos to you best ever.

Excellent episode!! I love Steve and Danny working together! Peter said on twitter that the gun tirade was not political, just two characters sharing their different opinions. Season 3 is soooo much better than the first half of season 2. I'm loving it!!

i LOVED danny....and i can understand him being upset over the risks, that steve takes....and the ranting is all part of danny.....steve wanted to take off with DANNY'S CAR, while being shot at....danny honestly WORRIES about his partner....i never saw the original of this storyline....but, i LOVED it....especially LOVED the very end of it.....and i'm GLAD, that catherine was NOT part of this one....there was NO place for her in it....i'm also GLAD, mommy dearest wasn't there as well.....i can't STAND either of them.

This was by far the worst Hawaii 5.0 of the newer series. I get that they were doing a remake but really, a prosthetic armed sniper, thats just cheesy. Its more along the line of Walker Texas Ranger style episode, its just so unrealistic. Also the crap with him seeing ghosts at the end that say thanks and tell him they are proud of him, it was unwatchable.
The rant in the gun store was just idiotic. He is giving the guy crap the whole time for no reason, then gives him more crap for not keeping records on ammo brass. Not even ammo which is absurd but ammo brass, what kind of retard thinks they would keep records on a $0.05 component to make ammo which is not even close to being regulated. He was treating the guy like he was a criminal for running a perfectly legal business (where the bad guy in the episode would not be able to buy the gun he was using being a felon) and then seems fine with the guy at the mail box place who is clearly lying and protecting the murderer.

Stupendous! Over the Top! What an enjoyable episode - showing the best of the best in the entire team --- Interesting, well-done, and of course,
major major performances from the entire cast ..... Love it when Steve
gets emotional.... the guy is a tremendous actor -- and I'm sure had the entire TV audience near tears with that heartfelt ending.... Yes, watched the Jack Lord version too, which was great.... but nobody does anything
as well as Alex and his team.....they are all just such a pleasure to watch in performance.... Bravo, CBS, for finding a great actor who can also get your heart pitter-pattering when he walks on with a tux, or better yet, in his seal uniform...... sigh!.....

The gun control preaching was forced and out of place, it didn't fit. Yes I know the liberals in Hollywood have to preach and force thier manure on the rest of us but it hurt the episode. My only thought when Danny ranted about guns is what do you want the character in from New York or New Jersey, liberals everywhere.

As gun happy as show is, I hardly think one Danny rant in one episode makes show anti gun. Danny also rant about not caring if Steve dies. Danny rants about everything. Not to be taken so seriously. Which Steve said to gun shop man, btw. But is ok if different characters in show have different attitudes about guns. This is America, and different Americans have this diversity of attitudes.

I watched the original H50 and was leery at first about a remake. Not any more. I absolutely love the show. Last night's episode was amazing with the robotic hands technology. The ending had me in tears. (Not a bad thing.)

I think the PTB with all the guns on this show and with what happened in December at the school wanted to put that message out there to take the heat off of them.... they can still have their shootouts but point to that segment to prove they really care....
Hey... it's PC but they have to play the game...
Meanwhile... another great H50 episode...

I saw the opening credits and thought about Jack Lord! Hookman was great and this season just keeps getting better. Scott Caan is the bro I want in my family. His snappy exchanges are the best. AND a woman got the job done, kudos to Kono who shot Hookman and he fell on his a&&! Go Kono!
Jack Lord should be smiling from Hawaiian heaven!

I loved it from start to finish:) Noticed the retro credits right away and that added to it. Can't believe people are still harping over poor Lori and now those same people harp on Kath. As for the Friday thing I heard only for the summer so we shall see. CSI NY is done, but Blue Bloods is moving into that spot for the summer. Don't want it to be a permanent move, but alas if it is I will follow it, it just keeps on getting better and better!!

I thought it was excellent! Alex’s range of emotions are incredible (and he doesn’t get enough recognition for his acting ability) - you could actually feel him controlling his wanting to cry over his father's friends and when he told Danny about the daughter. I've come to realize that Danny actually becomes more sarcastic when he's afraid for Steve's life, and to quote Steve, “I’m touched” because he was over the top last night. Peter Weller was excellent - he's another one who said an awful lot with very few words. He was chilling in his methodical revenge. Kickass Kono was back and I'm so happy she killed Hookman (for both Steve and Duke’s sake). It’s always enjoyable to see Kono and Fong together-loved her comment to him about not wanting his job cause she’d miss seeing him smile! I actually became emotional at the end when Steve saw his father and he said how proud he was of him. Even if it was in his imagination he really needed to hear those words from him. All-i

I felt it was a good tribute to the original show. Normally I love Danny's snark but his tirade at the gun shop was just forced. I didn't see a reason for it in general, but the entire scene just felt out of place, a disruption in the flow of the episode.
@Mrs Cleaver - I noticed that too and it cracked me up.

great episode! loved it. the show just works better when they focus on the core 4 team members and their dynamic, with no extraneous characters/story lines. there was still the back story with the death of steve's father and his friends, but it tied-in to the story, it wasn't forced in. also loved the retro credits!
on another note, i heard that H50 will be moved to Friday nights this Fall. personally i think it will be a fun Friday night show, but it seems like that's where networks send the shows once they become less of a priority. interested to see what happens.
Amy: Alex to me has always been good looking, however he was a little to thin last year when he was having his issues. He needed to gain weight, he is back to his season 1 weight which is great!

A very enjoyable ep. I love Duke glad he is alright. Kono and Fong, maybe setting this up for a future relationship, not sure Adam will be around long. I love Brian Yang, think he's the cutest guy on the show, hope they make him a regular next season. Sniper Kono always my favorite scene, wish it happened more but can't overdo it. Really great season so far, keep up the good work. I'll stay out of the gun debate since I don't live in the U.S., but I thought it was funny.
I really enjoyed this episode.
I never saw the orginal but it is neat that they did a remake of one of the original episodes.
Yes Steve and Danny's bromance was in full force! I also chuckle when Danny calls people Babe it is super funny hearing him call Steve babe like he did in the gun shop. I do thing that the argument with Danny and the gun shop owner was to touch on all the gun control debates.
My Steve just keeps looking hotter and hotter!
Girlpower!!! Kono loved her scene with Fong ....... Steve knowing after him Kono is the best sniper of the team so he let her take the shoot was the right call. Our Super Sniper Girl got the job done!
I freaked out when I realize that Robo Cop shot Duke I was relieved that he was okay by the end of the episode. I Love Duke
The ending was very touching Steve seeing Ben Keoki and Troy Ookala along with John McGarrett I hope it help Steve knowing now that his fater is proud of him.
Kudos to Peter Weller for directed this wonderful episode but also for playing a awesome creepy villain...Many kudos and admiration go's to Jason Koger Koger he is the double amputee and answered a casting call last fall and impressed the “Five-0” production team with the things he can do with his prosthetic hands
The cast and crew did a super job paying homage to the original, loved that they used the retro credits.
Yes!!....Yes!!....Yes! Badass! Navy SuperSEAL breaking the rules, throwing tear gas, listen to nobody but follow his own gut is BACK!! And of course Governor Steve took it all personal we talk about Steve here not a normal cop.
The McDanno bantering especially in the final scene was great Steve’s smiling as he realizes just how much Danny worries about him was adorable and Danny’s flustered response was perfect. Only Danny tirade in the gun shop was over the top for me!

Loved this episode. I saw Danny's gun control speech as him just being Danny. He has a tendency to go off on rants and I feel this was just another one. His interaction with Steve was definitely the best part of the episode. Season 3 for me is much improved over season 2. Lori just messed with the formula too much and I think episodes like this show that. Kono, while not in the forefront of the episode, got the shot which, had Lori been there, most likely would have gone to her for some unknown reason.

Great episode. Peter Weller was good even though he didn't say much. The retro credits were instantly recognizable and cool. I do have to say you people should lighten up about the gun banter. I thought it was funny and what better person to tackle it than Danny? It wasn't one-sided so who cares? It was a fun little addition I thought.
