Miguel Ferrer Receives Double Promotion on NCIS: Los Angeles

It's a very good day to be Miguel Ferrer.

The actor, who debuted halfway through NCIS: Los Angeles Season 3 as NCIS Assistant Director Owen Granger has been upped to series regular on both the mothership AND the proposed NCIS: Los Angeles spinoff that may be included on CBS' falls schedule.

As Deadline reports, this would be a move akin to the one made by Rocky Carroll, who stars on NCIS as Leon Vance and also recurred often at the outside of that show's follow-up in California.

The NCIS: Los Angeles spinoff will air later this year as a backdoor pilot, with the network then deciding if it deserves a full series order for 2013-2014.

Neil, why would anyone want a spin off to be exactly like the show it came from? Even if they were all different brands, how many things of vanilla ice cream would you really want? Nice to have different flavors. The national concept of this show will give it something that not only NCIS hasn't really had, but neither have the other franchises in this genre.

I have trouble understanding why they want a spin-off anyway. NCIS LA is a good show but doesn't have the style or softness that the first NCIS has. You never see them taking pictures or doing a crime scene, what's with that? What kind of spin-off would actually work? The show needs better actors and more realism

this is disappointing....IMHO I would like to see his charactor shipped off to Europe somewhere...
