Episode was awesome has usual.Vance emotions about what he found out about Jackie was not what he thought was overwhelming. He is a great actor. I think a wife or husband should have a separate account and a joint account. My mother always said never let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Even with a HAPPY marriage. One never knows. Remember the episode when 2 women were married to the same guy but the guy had a different name. The woman were fighting and Tony and McGee had there phones out and Tony said CHICK FIGHT they were recording it.Gibbs gave Vance great advice. I hope they do not take Vance off the show and put that deputy director in his place. He is funny because he really do not know what to do its like he is confused. No one else on the show has kids so at least keep one of the team that has. Deputy director always act like he is intimated by Gibbs just like Palmer act when Gibbs is around. I have never watched ally Mcbeall so I do not know much about him. Pl

Fascinating reading the various comments, love how we all have such different views, guess that's what makes the world go round. Must admit I came to NCIS late so I've very recently (in the last year or so) bought and watched all the episodes on DVD, and continue to do so, so they're all still very fresh in my memory. My gripe is that compared to some of the past episodes some of the most recent ones feel a little weak and there is a lack of the smart witty dialogue of old, and of late Tony has for the most part been over the top, which is a new thing - just watch the first 200 episodes, he's always been funny, but smart and funny which is different to plain silly. I couldn't be more delighted that the series has been commissioned for another run, I just think there are times it could be even better.

something to point out and I found these out watching Monk but when someone dies I believe the family has 24 hours to remove there love one safe deposit box and I do believe its a crime for a wife or a man to have a sepreate one from their family.

Nice episode, although the commander torturing his men as a mirror of his brother's death was pretty far far far fetched and I don't think even Marines these days would all agree to such treatment. Vance was great in his sorrow and paranoia. The Gibbs/Vance scene was great and I loved hearing that the angelic Shannon was actually a thinking person about herself and child. Tony was a bit overly clownish this ep, but he came through when he was needed. I love NCIS and great news for an 11th season.

Will it never end? Although we couldn't make it past 21 million (Although we were 100,000 viewers shy.), this episode won 20.9 million viewers. That means NCIS has had five straight episodes of over 20 million people. That has to be a new record or something.

Great episode, but I have to nitpick. 1) banks never allow someone to access a safe deposit only with a key. The box holder's signature must be on file. You sign the card, and the vault mgr makes sure it matches the signature on file. 2) banks have access to databases which inform them within 24 hours of deaths, and the boxes are basically frozen until probate occurs. Sometimes they will allow a will to be removed, but nothing of value. In other words, in the real world, Vance could not have accessed the safe deposit box.

They weren't kidding when thy said it... Season 10 really is the best season ever. Except for perhaps the first episode ( which I still thought was great. And I still think people confuse not meeting expectations with bad television) and the Christmas episode every other episode has been consistently excellent.

Another great episode. Tony and Ziva babysitting Vance's children was priceless. Especially the homage to "Jaws" which actually reminded me of the old Saturday Night Live skit with Chevy Chase as the "Land shark". I thought the scenes between Vance and Gibbs should how much they respect and like one another. This season has really been terrific so far.

was a great episode of showing how terrific vance is as an actor. he ran the emotional spectrum from grief to anger to realization to joy at seeing him kids laugh again. nicely done and to show how he and gibbs truly respect each other but gibbs maintains his distance too. all well executed.
sorry several of you are so clueless as to what is and isn't good television. no empathy at all, nor capable of seeing the little things that make this show great, like the casual back and forth between tiva that means so much.
very good episode.

I liked this ep alot. I liked how Craig regurgitated back to Tony all of the things he had been saying, and it would appear that Craig is married. Craig is a comic relief, but I am surprised someone with admittedly no management skills became an AD, unless there are AD's who don't actually manage people, but do other things and that is only their title. I loved Ziva and Vance talking and I am glad he doesn't blame her, which he shouldn't since he invited a known target to his home. Brian has been very busy with his film, I think that's why he has been missing lately.

I had seen a picture of "Tony and the pizza box" months ago, but thought it was MW being silly on the set, as it wasn't tied to an ep. I think the difference with Tony and the older kids last night and his ability to be fine with other older kids in prior eps is that he "knows" these kids and their dad and they are sticking around, so impressions are important. Having said that, this season has not stuck to canon regarding Tony's apartment. In Season 8 when EJ hows up again and they here about the PTP killer, Tony talks to her about being in his apartment, wearing his Elvis Costello t-shirt, and cooking for her! So this "no one has ever been to my apartment" has been a major snafu or Tony is just saying that because the last person he allowed in left...just like they all do.

I didn't care for it. I just don't like Vance's eps. Boring. I liked Ziva/Tony bit with the kids and I did enjoy the talk between Vance and Ziva, but as a whole, I could have missed the ep and not felt like I lost anything. Also, why would Jackie need a lawyer to DIVIDE property if she was just preparing for a situation where Vance died? That part did not make sense. Anyway, just a so so ep for me.

Great episode. It doesn't look like the deputy director will be staying much longer. It was funny seeing tony chasing the kids around with a pizza box on his head and it being cut to look like teeth an having Vance walk in and his son saying tony let us watch jaws. Abby telling Gibbs he could work an eye patch was great. Can't wait till the next episode it looks like we get a lot more jimmy.
Yes, the pizza box/shark thing cracked me up! Totally DiNozzo! Him and Ziva having so much fun was refreshing! Great episode. Loved it when Vance asked Gibbs if he would ever tell him what he was building in the basement- and Gibbs said 'no'- classic. The two characters are bonded by the deaths of their wives. Rocky Carroll is a great character- fits in well with the cast. Hope he's a 'keeper'. And I agree with everyone else- McGee- get some decent clothes! You are no longer a probie. Thanks for a wonderful show, actors, writers and director. I've been watching since day one and don't miss an episode!

Overall I enjoyed this episode. If it hasn't been for the humor, the episode would just have been a yawn this week for me. Next weeks is gonna be interesting!! I personally loved the part where Tony was chasing those kids around the house with that pizza hat on his head. I died laughing for 30 mins!!
It's nice to know that Vance now understands Gibbs better. Although I'm not a big Vance fan at all, I do hope he comes back to NCIS headquarters. Can't stand that other turtle guy they have there!

Good review and great episode, as always....it's the comments that are weird! The murder story was intriguing and well played....would have liked to see what the Captain would have been charged with -- understand toughening up his team for war, but a lot of PTST there and deaths are not an excuse! However, it sort of ran parallel to Vance's dilemma. Loved Gibbs gentle 'solving' or understanding Vance's angst by sharing some of his own. As a military wife totally understand where Jackie and Shanon were coming from. He is such a gentle soul with all his co-workers. It was not Abby or Palmer's night. Two plots running need not have 100% of the team present (besides their own personal life off-camera may have prevented their time on-camera -- neither was cruical to the storylines!) As for Tony's antics...it's been 11 years -- Tony is Tony, granted childish at times, but always there as big brother (or more) when needed.
surprised Ziva hasn't gone after the Israeli traitor that planned the deaths of her father and the other man. Nothing about the other country's responce about their man's death? Nothing about either or did I miss it somehow?
on another note I still think Gibbs should hook up with Frank's daughter-in-law. That way he would have someone and a little girl.
