@klimville Pretty sure you could have multiple Dept Directors out there.. He's in DC so he can take over without moving...
I also wish they had used a more realistic IP address... 192.168.1??? Anybody who's setup a router knows that's the standard local addresses... Oh well..
I too thought of old school MI with this episode... If I'm in severe nightowl mode, repeats on at 2am on MYTV...

@dcbentley: Yes actually I've watched old MI re-runs. Just never expected them to use that device here. Pleasant surprise.
@Robin Roderick: I agree - it was kind of cool that the show didn't start off with a dead body. The writing on this show is top notch.

Episode was great as always and so glad to see NCIS will be around for another year or more, with "Gibbs" signing a new c,ontract.

Have a question for NCIS/NCIS-LA fans....wasn't Granger introduced by Hetty in LA as the Deputy Director to Vance last year? Then why is DepDir Craig acting while Vance is in mourning?? Although, think about it....Granger and Gibbs wor

" the most surprising thing to me was discovering that they hadn't gone there at all."
Never watched old Mission Impossible reruns eh Douglas? This episode was classic 60's MI from the start.
Too slick, too 'gotcha' too smooth, I smelled the con a mile away. I like episodes that are a little less contrived and predictable.
As for the puking, I've had the indistinct pleasure of flying as a passenger in a C-130. . . they're like riding in the back of a dump truck, built for cargo not people, loud, smelly, utilitarian and they bounce and shake quite a bit. So yeah, puking would be a common occurrence for the inexperienced.

It was nice not to have a discovered body to begin with! Nice change-up there. Love McAbby! Need more moments like that in Ms. Sciuto's Lab! LOL! LOVED the "Old School" set up, I did not believe for one moment they were at Gitmo, but Kahn was a savvy bad guy, nice change-up there too. I am HOPING Vance will be back!!!!!!!

it was alright...but, NOT great....i DON'T like the deputy director.....he's a JOKE...compared to the 1 on NCIS:LA...he's whimpy.
I loved this episode from beginning to end.Vik was fantastic.I wanted Gibbs to give him a head slap in the worst way.The whole Gitmo thing was so much fun.I knew it was all a setup. The only surprising thing was that they were actually at Andrews. And that Kevin was playing the terrorist.I had suspicions about him for a minute when he was poking around their desks and computers. So glad he wasn't a bad guy.I liked him a lot.I was getting frustrated with the new director.I kept thinking "Vance would do it!" So glad he finally got on board, and realized he's not ready for this,"yet".This show has really been on fire this season, and I'm loving it.

I always knew that the Gitmo trip was fake. But I have to admit, there were several times where I was seriously questioning it. And NCIS continues to be a ratings hit. Canary got 21.49 million viewers which means for four episodes in a row, NCIS has had a viewership of over 21 million. That also slightly proves (But not completely of course) the Abby episode wasn't too negative with a vast majority of viewers.

If it wasn't for the serious of the episode plotline, I would have loved to have Lester (Vik) say he used to work for the Buy More in LA, or tell us that MC is actually Jeff. That would have been drop dead hilarious for him to do that.

@ Anne re: steady paycheck
A steady paycheck doesn't have to mean loads of cash, just a dedicated income to pay the bills, which is what most of us strive for. There is no reason Khan only worked for the unknown "M.C." He was a hacker for hire.

I loved how the second scene with Tony asking for recognition was a maybe not so subtle slap at the critics for ignoring NCIS and Ziva reminding everyone about "Number One", which makes everyone clap. Very good subtext!

Was reminded of the 200th episode, when McGee passed on the promotion to Okinawa. (Why does everyone on this team pass on promotion opportunities?)He said that he felt there was still a lot of good which he could do in the position on Gibbs' team. Capturing the top two cyber-terrorists in the world would qualify as a lot of good.
I do not think that Tim was smarter than the villain here. The tricks that he and Abby tried did not work - the computer still started self-destructing. The only reason McGee got MC's IP address was the work which the entire team did.
It was wonderful to see again a more-or-less stand-alone procedural episode with virtually none of what I've come to think of as the soap opera moments. (I mean that in the kindest possible way.)
Sure, there were the brief Abby/McGee interactions, which may serve as a warning to those who are anti-shippers. I felt in the 200th episode that the fans were promised that Abby and Tim would end up in a committed relationship.

I remember the ep you are talking about, but not the title. They were trying to get info out of an Israeli (I only say that because Ziva accused him of betraying our country). They are in a Gulf Stream and tease him about where they are going. At one point Tenerife is mentioned but not GITMO. He gave up ARIES, which set up the whole Agent Lee ending. When the suspect said ARIES, Tony, Gibbs and Ziva all answered back with their own horoscope signs, which were theirs in real life. They never left the plane.

What a great episode! The best part of the teaser was seeing DiNozzo coming out of that dumpster--didn't see that coming!
As far as the Gitmo game, I figured out immediately that they weren't really there, but it was fun to watch them messing with the cyber-guy's head. And I liked the whole MIT angle--that McGee was against someone with the same elite education as him and that he was still better.
