The Lying Game Review: You and Me, We're Everything

by at . Comments

Emma Becker is in trouble - and, for once, it has nothing to do with finding her birth mom and pretending to be her twin sister. In "Regrets Only," we find out that Emma finally cashed in her v-card to Thayer.

The whole problem is she may not be 100% invested in Thayer.

Alec's New Ally

It seems like nobody is invested in their designated partner these days on The Lying Game. Well, nobody except for Theresa and Dan, the almost newlyweds. But after that last scene with Theresa in the graveyard, it doesn't look like anyone is headed to the altar tomorrow. Who abducted or attacked Theresa? That's a whole other question.

Back to all that couple swapping: Alec and Kristen are so on. Now that I no longer really hate Alec, I could be down with this. Don't get me wrong, he's fairly shady but I think Rebecca is by far the shadier half of that couple at this point. She was stammering up a storm during her conversation with Sutton. Rebecca in and of herself is a "Lying Game." I don't even know what I believe out of her mouth at this point.

If the audience is unsure of Rebecca's lies, imagine how Sutton feels! Then again, Sutton is a pretty solid liar herself. When she was denying knowing Rebecca was their birth mom, it was almost laughable. Emma was like oh, come on. However, Sutton knew the perfect way to distract Emma. Bring up her love life!

Thayer is great and he's been great to Emma, but you can't help who you have feelings for. I wasn't even necessarily on Team Ethan, but for some reason his speech to Emma in her bedroom was just perfect. It would also be unfair for her to stay with Thayer if she was second guessing her feelings. It was an immature move of Thayer to rub stuff in Ethan's face. However it was also immature of Ethan just to throw a punch.

You and me, we're everything. | permalink

Now what, who will Emma choose? Who should she choose? Are Ted and Rebecca game on now that Kristen asked for a divorce? Were you surprised to find out that Ted knows Sutton is his daughter? I felt like Alec was quick to give Emma some of her answers this week which is good. There's only so long we can keep asking the same questions.

I am in love with that kiss

Jordan seems to nice to be a killer. I don't think he would do that, especially not for Rebeca.

@showstopper maybe he did kill Derek for her! Because what she made him do was definitely serious! Am I the only one who thought it sounded like Rebecca was using her hot stepson for sex?? I don't think abc family would go there though

Ps: I was really mad at Ethan for hooking up with Sutton at the farm and when Emma left but now I'm super on board with her getting back together with him! They're meant to be, they clearly love each other and Thayer's not as sweet as we though, baiting Ethan like that!

Ted, Rebecca and Alec are all really suspicious tome now, and so is this weird stranger who gave Rebecca the photo if he really exists! Teresa was soo stupid for going to the graveyard alone, I hope she's not hurt! She could uncover the truth!

Alec & Kristin, Ted & Rebecca. End of story. I am strongly up for some new things / developments to take place.

Thayer has anger issues. He's also mysterious in the sense that he is hiding something. I don't think he's all sweet and honest. There's something about him that screams "I killed Derek". Ethan and Emma I think belong together because they have a lot more in common. I think she enjoys the fact the fact that Ethan was the first boy that saw her for her. Ethan also seems like he's a better person with Emma around. She makes him want to be "great" person. In that sense and like the book. I think they are meant to be. Rebecca just doesn't care for daughters. She's more concerned with getting Ted and getting back at Kristin.

I know we're supposed be all "violence is wrong." But Thayer was being a douche and the minute he put his hands on Ethan he made it physical, so I have no problem with him getting decked. I find the character very uneven. On one hand, he is the oldest of the kids, but the most immature. He is sneaky and underhanded, but we're supposed to believe he didn't know Sutton was going for revenge sex and he agreed to it. Yeah, poor Thayer. Where has he been that he can't read women at all and thinks that breakups don't take time to heal? And why is he trying to date his little sister's friends? I'm firmly in the camp that he is supposed to be sketchy, the writing and acting can't be that off. I loved Sutton's faces listening in on Emma and Laurel, Chando played out so much humor in the "yeah, I know Emma I've slept with both of them, bad choice, girl" vein. I was rolling.

I am conflicted over the whole Thayer/Ethan thing. Like, the Emma we know likely has more in common with Ethan and how they both grew up, but she managed to keep a positive attitude and outlook on the world that makes her more innocent and that part of her is perfect for Thayer. Honestly, Ethan and Sutton make more sense to me in general (but I have been getting a sense that Sutton's journey is taking a course similar to the character in the book and I actually think it will happen soon after she tells Emma the full truth and they make some sort of decision together to confront all the adults with the truth altogether). I kind of wondered if Emma was going to come back at Sutton that Laurel was actually just as much her sister as she was Sutton's. I assume Jordan did kill Derek, but I actually wonder if it really was an accident. I had a thought for the first time last night, I kind of wonder if anyone except Rebecca knew that there were twins at the beginning. Like, I figure Alec figured it out awhile ago, but maybe Annie Hobbs had stolen Emma so quickly that is why the hospital won't really tell anything to Emma because they are actually at fault.

I agree with you Showstopper. She needed Alec in prison. Just don't know why they had to get married. Charisma Carpenter has never been better. Amazing acting.
