until mid may last year and TM is definitely not above borderline status so we could easily get a big rush of news on shows next year with nothing on TM. Also they didn't announce many cancelled shows in mid march last year so if this is it for TM there's a good chance we don't find out until mid May. But really you underestimate how much the writers and producers know, Bruno last may said he had "2 or so seasons left to tie things together", and I bet he had a good idea a couple months later how much longer the show had. These producers and writers know things well in advance, the scripts are written well in advance(like I've said before Bruno has had a solid outline for his RJ plan for years) and the show knows whether this is it for sure. So don't worry about the show not getting a good announcement in advance of its fate, this won't be a repeat of CSI:Miami last year, if this is it the writers will know so. You might not like the ending but it won't be CBS's fault screwing TM.
Let me chime in here quickly with 2 things 1) Golden Boy's ratings last night were bad---1.8 for a Tuesday night slot won't get it done. That's slightly better than Vegas's in the past, but Vegas was a sure thing to be cancelled anyway due to horrid ratings. In other words, good news for us, there's a good chance the trend from 06 of CBS not renewing a midseason drama continues. That's part c of the 5 step plan we need if it comes true. 2) The writers and staff already knows whether or not the show will be cancelled. They've probably known for a while to be honest, there filming the last 3 episodes now and they've definitely at least gotten a pretty definitive idea of the script for every episode all the way through the finale. We found out last year about the Mentalist renewal in mid march last year, and it was in mid may 2 years ago. I'm not sure when we'll get it this year--keep in mind though there were several borderline shows that didn't hear there fate until mid may last year th

Try not to get so upset just yet. While there has been no announcement of a renewal, there also has been no announcement of cancellation. Some other shows have already been cancelled, so it seems to me if the decision was made they would have announced it. They are probably still looking for more data. So maybe that poll could have an impact. It is almost certain that ratings in the next few weeks will be closely analyzed. I'm not saying there is no risk, I'm just saying you shouldn't hold the funeral before the patient has died.

Your manta is a good one, huisclothes. We cannot inoculate ourselves. Let's try not to take that path before its time. We can't bank grief. It will always be too soon when you love something, and grief will always be the price we pay for love. Tis worth it though. I'm off to see if I can get my sick guy, Theodore, to eat.

I'm sorry, huisclothes and Entwife. Virtual hug being sent. Me, I will allow some sadness, but right now I have to wait to cross that bridge. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of every new episode, I get and hope that @Ani I has information that is real about a 6th season. I've seen no evidence from verifiable sources that state there is a 6th deal, but hope at this moment can be maintained even in the face of contravening facts. Or with little sleep. Take care and chins up.

@entwife yes, grief. i can't say this is as bad as when my dog, brico died last year -- nothing and no one could ever be worse.
but i was thunderstruck by him in much the same way as when i first saw patrick jane. like he was designed with my mind in mind. don't want patrick to die.

@entwife yeah, probably. especially for simon who has to adhere to the kid's schedule. if there is one, i'm sure the production people try to accomodate him so his scenes are all clumped together. could also be good news for cho and rigsby. they could get more scenes. even if i put in a extra week, they'd still have to have everything in the can by mid-april. and it isn't long my pretty, it isn't long.
