Baker has to be at SXSW on March 18th. So I don't know if it will effect shooting. And, yes, they are shooting episode 19 today.

@watcher i'm sure you're right. it probably doesn't matter. finances trump all. and that makes sense. but as i've already written to cbs, i'm doing whatever else i can. couldn't hurt. thanks for voting.

aren't they shooting episode 19 as we speak? if so, there are only three more left to shoot. don't know how long postproduction is on each episode. we know ep 19 is 8 days shooting. mon, feb 25th to wed, march 6th. we assume they go right into episode 20 while they cut and score 19. let's allot ep 20 the same 8 days. thursday, march 7th to monday, march 18th. then ep 21 is eight more days, tuesday, march 19th to thursday, march 28th. we would figure that ep 21 is part one of the finale. that would leave us with ep 22 shooting friday, march 29th to tuesday april 9th. that's the final episode. so if the finale arc is two or three episodes, unless they're shooting alternate scenes, they have to know now or in a week or two, scriptwise and pre-pro-wise whether they're doing the finale or the final finale. they could always do the classic they kill red john, patrick and teresa walk away and the super fades on "or is he?" :D

Do you really think this poll matters? I'm not criticizing or saying it doesn't, I'm just wondering because it is not a CBS poll. These entertainment sites have polls all the time about all kinds of stuff because they constantly need new content to get page views. I just wonder if CBS will take something like this into consideration, or if it is just a financial decision. If I was them, I would use the ratings as my poll. But I'm not in that industry so can't say for sure. That being said, I did vote- but just once. It doesn't hurt, and you never know- it could help. I did the entire poll while I was there- just skipped shows I've never seen.

I looked at the rest of the 25 and the mentalist is doing pretty good! I keep reading that the mentalist was picked up for the 6th season already.

@huisclothes I know. I figure people vote for shows they want to keep, some just like to take the whole poll. But I guess some are mad about how TM has dragged out RJ, and other things we've talked about, and emotion makes people want to take action. They probably don't vote multiple times like fans would. We're still out numbering them almost 2 to 1. I'm sure CBS and TM are aware of the poll and results so far, probably following it, so at least we're getting the message to them that the show is loved and we want more. I know it's not the only consideration in their decision-making, maybe not at all. But all we can do is show up when, where and how we can. You're doing that.

re: the tv guide poll. why are all these people who don't like the show taking the time to vote against it? seems like they could do better things with their time, say, sit in their garage with the car running.

so if cbs won't announce their renewals until may and mentalist goes off at the end of april, will bruno and crew have had warning much before that? will they already know in say, early april. everything would have to be in the can by then. seems like they will do the same ending (wrapping up red john) no matter what. and figure that if they happen to get renewed, that will be a high class problem to have. they will work out next steps for the fall over the summer. so it has to be a cliff-hanger that can also function as a finale. or can it just be a finale and if the series pops up again in september, as long as jane isn't dead, they'll work it out. might be a good reason to give us a very down ending (not dead jane, but in deep sh-t jane) so if it goes off, it was heart wrenching and feels final and if it comes back they've got lots to work with.

I went a gave a look. NCIS Los Angeles was the lead in show for Golden Boy. NCIS LA had a 2.9, 8 shares of the magical 19-49 demographic numbers and within 30 minutes Golden Boy brought the demo down to 1.6, 5 shares. This is why I think it a final 1.8 is disappointing for CBS.

Don't quote me. But, Vegas which is sitting on the soon to be canceled list first demo was stronger and higher. The lead in show was one of the NCIS twins (demo darlings) and within the first 30 minutes Golden Boy dropped to 1.6 which gave it the average of 1.8. Not to mention competition was weak on the other two networks. Unprofessionally I'd say disappointing, especially with the amount of promoting it was given. Word has it will be moved to Fridays and Fridays give a lot more grace with demo. If it can pull 1.8 (19-49) on Friday on a regular basis then it may have a chance, in my opinion. CBS plays by different rules so anything is possible. By the way, CSI NY finished their season last Friday with 1.2 demo and in such a way that it could serve as a series finally.

elastica, I didnt notice that, but have a bad memory so.. mmm very interesting! I wouldnt be surprised it's because they ran out of sets.. because they used the same barn as well for two different episodes (or was it three?)

Just realized that in the next episode promo, the house they shot 5x15 is the same as in 1x11 - Red John's friends. I wonder if this has any significance or if they simply ran out of new sets. Hmm.

I've never seen it, Mimi. Its first episode was last night. From the multiple commercials on during The Mentalist it appears to be attempting to grab Mentalist viewers. CBS has been shoving it down our throats. The commercials even copy The Mentalist image of Jane standing as a shadow. It may or may not play a part in the renewal/cancel for The Mentalist, CSI NY, The Good Wife. I don't think 1.8 in the 18-49 demo target is a very good showing for a primer episode, because numbers usually fall as a show goes on. @black and white and red all over it will likely have a better idea or opinion if this show had a good opening. I personally see it as looking weak, as a lot of mid season introduced shows usually do and usually fail.

yes @huisclothes, I was trying to count up how many times Patrick had been punched in the nose -- so your incident makes 6! hilarious.
@Mimi I always wondered the same thing about Patrick holding Teresa before he "shoots" her. I just saw the scene the other day, and he really pulls her as close as he can and holds her a long time, I mean her back is even arched and her clothes look kind of empty in back he's got her so close, and his chin is even over he shoulder, and for so long she finally has to put her hand on his back. I figured it must be because the plan could backfire and he could end up dead, or maybe even both of them and he was saying a real goodbye. Powerful and poignant, one of my favorite scenes, for sure.
