The Mentalist Season Finale to "Change Hunt for Red John"

by at . Comments

Tom Szentgyorgyi has offered fans an intriguing clue into how The Mentalist Season 5 will conclude.

Following last week's major reveal by Lorelei - that Jane has shaken hands in the past with Red John - the producer tells TV Guide that recent episodes have been "about Jane digging into the notion that it's not that Red John could be anyone; it's that Red John is one of a very specific set of people that Jane is uniquely qualified to investigate."

So, where is all this going?

"The finale is going to pay that off in a way that will completely change the hunt for Red John," says Szentgyorgyi. "We are going to know some very specific things about who he might be."

Ponder that tease now and visit TV Guide for more Mega Buzz and spoilers related to The Walking Dead, New Girl and other TV Fanatic favorites.

The person most like RJ is Brett Styles.
If anyone has RJ's personality, it is he.
Dominating, followers, intelligence, etc.

I for one am so SICK of Red John I don't know what to do. For crying out loud end it already. It's not fun anymore.

Jane is not red john. Only an idiot would think that.

@PrincessD. What I was referring to was a scenario where Red John is the guy with the dual personality and we the audience are only seeing the "good" side, who is patrick. We really have no way of knowing how Patrick's time is spent. I know he doesn't sleep well. I know he is not always with the CBI gang. He only tells Lisbon 30 percent of what he knows. The only things we know about RJ have come from his minions. Let's be real here. There are hundreds of theories out there. My theory, silly as it may be, was an attempt to describe a shocking set of circumstances. It probably would not go over on television. Perhaps in a horror movie. Have you an opinion as to the identity of Red John? I would be interested in reading about it.

@Pahometowner
when you have "dual personality" as you want to call it, your current "self" disappears and another personality takes over, when this happens you will not remember what the other personality has been doing.
Dont you think if Patrick had "dual personality" then he would have not noticed that he has been having blackouts or he cannot remember stuff from a certain time of a day.

@Stevo711....I'm trying to remember the exact wording used by Bruno Heller regarding whether or not Patrick Jane could be RJ. If he said it is not PJ, why couldn't it be Simon Baker playing an alternate personality? As long as he did not say.... It is NOT Simon B, then IMHO it could be RJ with the dual personal personality and the good side is Patrick who is in plain sight in every episode, always trying to expose and kill RJ. The unfolding of this tale would be that RJ is so screwed up that he is suicidal.
That would take the blame off Patrick and put some human qualities in RJ. The bad thing would be that Simon B would be remembered as RJ and not the Mentalist. It would set fans on their ears if the series ended with RJ having the alter ego instead of Patrick having the alter ego. Hey wait....... Maybe this is too creepy for me......I love this poor, fractured character named Patrick. Then to have those feelings about a serial killer. ;(

I was thinking Haffner could be Red John. I missed the episodes after Red Barn. Was there ever any follow up to Haffner being connected to that group that Red John was connected to?
