Hart of Dixie Review: Take Smaller Bites

by at . Comments

"If Tomorrow Never Comes" was definitely one of my favorite episodes in this latter half of Hart of Dixie Season 2.

The reason being the final scene between George and Zoe because George said EXACTLY what I was thinking. Also, because George and Tansy grew closer while Brick and Shelby became engaged. But the key moment for me was a confession from Zoe Hart in regards to Brick Breeland.

Wade & Lemon's Dispute

Let me start of by talking about the best part of the hour: when Zoe confessed to George that she "liked" him and George responded, "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?" You and me both, George Tucker, or G.T. as you liked to call yourself.

This whole re-hashing of George feelings from Zoe is SO Hart of Dixie Season 1. She chose Wade, end of story. George is now sloppy seconds... while Wade is the guy who cheated on her. It seems both dynamics have been tainted somehow.

George was exactly right, she told him to go find a relationship and that is what he did and look what happened. George is falling in love with Tansy and I love every second of it. It was really adorable to watch George call her brothers his "family." This dynamic is becoming one of my favorites.

My favorite quote was courtesy of George shutting Zoe down: "Take smaller bites." Ha! Best burn of the night goes to Mr. Tucker. I loved it!

Another great addition was how Zoe confessed that Brick was like a father figure to her. I love to look back to their initial relationship and how Brick despised her. I really do believe these two have a father/daughter dynamic and are slowly coming to admitting it.

Now, if Lemon and Zoe could be become besties I could forget the whole Wade-cheating-on-Zoe debacle.

Elsewhere, Brick was getting his brain tumor removed. I am disappointed that it didn't play out more. I guess I was hoping it would drag out into the season finale and be some big cliff hanger for a possible season three.

I'm realizing that the tumor was just a ploy to bring Jonah/Zoe closer, while also leading to engagement between Shelby/Brick. Which, to be completely honest, I don't mind at all. I think Jonah is the kind of rebound guy that Zoe needs.

Overall, I enjoyed this episode. I really liked seeing the newer dynamics were getting closer; yes. I am even talking about Lemon/Wade and Annabeth/Lavon. And when I look back at how far this show has come, you know, maybe I do really enjoy how they're mixing it up.

Now we have two episodes until the finale and I can only imagine the kind of craziness that will unfold in Bluebell.

LOVED George's reaction/response to Zoe's profession of love (? or was it strong like?). Unlike some others here, I don't think George is becoming a hillbilly b/c he was willing to hang out with Tansy's family - he was just doing what you do for someone you love - you deal with their family. At some point, Zoe has to wake up and realize that George is her Ashely Wilkes - ideal on paper but not really interested in her or right for her. The more George knows Zoe the more he knows she's not for him. Who knows if Zoe will ever wake up to that. I'm on the fence about Jonah - they need to mix it up a little with Zoe for a reasonable amount of time before they can consider bringing her back together with Wade (or make a reasonable attempt at linking her with George).

HOD continues to be a take it or leave it show for me. I will keep watching but if it is not renewed I will not be sad.
Zoe started off the series as a strong willed doctor. Now she is becoming a whiny girl, needing a man to be happy, her admission to George was just sad!
However I am really liking the Wade and Lemon dynamic.
Another part that bothered me, Magnolia lives at home so would she really not wonder what is going on if her dad does not come home one night? Also they could have at least put a bandage on Brick's head to make it look like he actually had surgery to his head!
I am liking George and Tansy and Annabeth and Lavon.

I am just about ready to throw in the towel on this show! I thought this episode was really unbelievable. Tansy's brothers are not the type of people I would figure a lawyer would love to hang with--it hit new lows. And I just cannot buy the Tansy/George pairing. Wade is still being a douche as far as I can see, and Zoe is truly being a spoilt, self-absorbed brat as is becoming characteristic of her. I did enjoy the Brick/Shelby story line. She's good for him. Jonah is a boring guy, with no chemistry with Zoe. I actually do like the Lavon/Annabeth relationship. Hope it lasts. And George's set down of Zoe was pretty funny and well-deserved. I liked the suggestion of bringing back Wade's brother. Justin Hartley I could see with Zoe. But I will not bother with this show much longer if it continues in the paths it's been going lately. This show started out cute, but has gone downhill lately.

I am REALLY disappointed with Hart of Dixie. I felt like since the Zoe/Wade breakup this show has been a complete waste of my time. Is it the actors or the writers? First of all the Zoe/Wade issue. SOOOOO off balanced. Those two gave the impression that they REALLY liked each other, close to love. Think back to how they acted. OK, he cheated. Where is his true remorse. He claimed she was the best girlfriend he ever had, even looked to be completely distraught when he "confessed". They showed only Zoe affected by the breakup, not Wade. No secret depression scenes or anything for him. Im still trying to understand that.
Thru it all Zoe didnt even consider going back to the city? really? that would have been better then whats shes been doing since the break up. Send her back to the City to get her head together. Then send her back to Dixie when she decides shes homesick..
During that time, Wade should have really been going thru some type of depression over the breakup.
The Lavon issue. What is up with that. Hes been in love 3 times. REALLY? How can you be so love with Lemon and fall out so easily, then totally in love with Ruby, now AnnaBeth? REALLY? That was a little too fast.. its ok for him to be single for a while, find something else for him to be interested in. Go thru a hobbie seeking fringe or something.
    Love AnnaBeth alone..
Lemon/Wade issue.. I like the Rammer Jammer thng but really? slow it done just a little bit...
Love Brick/Shelby thing..Georg/Tangy thing... Tom/Wife thing..Teen issues.. Im trying to give the show a shot to redeem themselves. I honestly get bored quick.. I guess Im waiting for the potential it has.

@Anon - 30 Rock did a single woman choking alone storyline. Needless to say, it was much better. My problem with Jonah is that he IS a mix between George and Wade. It feels like the oh-so-creative writers are trying to either slip something past their viewers or have their cake and eat it too. I would have much preferred Z/J to become (gasp) friends than to add him to the list of Z's pointless, short-lived love interests. I don't see him bringing anything new/original/positive/necessary to the show or Zoe's character.

My heart is completely torn. Initially I wanted George and Zoe end up together but Jonah might be better for her because George changed and is becoming more of a Hillbilly with Tansy s help so I am not sure anymore if I want them together anymore so here is what I suggest to the writers: Change George back to the way he was and give the fans a George and Zoe ending or Zoe and Jonah. Other idea: Why not make a couple out of Wade and Lemon? Total opposites but we all know opposites attract!

had up their sleeves. I know this comment has been incredibly harsh but I’m genuinely at the point where I’m saddened that this show had so much promise but that it just doesn't have a truly creative executive producer working behind the scenes. :(

I can't remember where I've seen that whole ...almost choking "I COULD'VE DIED ALONE!" scene but I know it’s been done in another show or movie. Not that I expect creative ‘I didn't see that coming’ storylines from Hart of Dixie any more. I honestly feel that since the whole cheating thing this has been a completely different, watered down show, going nowhere. Why all of a sudden do we have to once again sit through the completely exhausted idea of Zoe and George? Because there are still 10% of fans and apparently the exec producer that seem to want to make these two happen? I honestly used to watch this show the moment I could and now, not so much. I miss the sexiness this show had about it. I also hate the flip-flopping with the character consistency and storylines. I can already see the finale will end with some type of idea that will provide hope for Zoe and Wade to reunite in hopes to draw the audience back in for season three because it’s all the creative team had up their sleeves. I know this comment has been incredibly harsh but I’m genuinely at the point where I’m saddened that this show had so much promise but that it just doesn't have a truly creative executive producer working behind the scenes. :(

The highlight of this episode for me was Zoe telling Jonah that Brick was the closest thing to a father she had. I am even finding Jonah more likeable with each episode. Of course there was no Wade and Zoe time. I liked that George stood up to Zoe, but I have this awful feeling that by next week he will be having his own doubts about his relationship Tansy. I do hope that the lack of anything substantial in this episode will be made up for in the next two, otherwise it is going to be a long summer.

(cont. from below) The most annoying person in the episode was Zoe! Always sticking her nose in other people's business, judging people, and still trying to break up Tansy and George. She seriously needs to grow up and move on. I'm glad to see in next week's preview that George is sticking with Tansy. I underestimated his character. He's hilarious with Tansy and I'm glad to see he didn't break up with her as soon as Zoe revealed her feelings to him. Loved his reaction and I think most of HoD fans felt the same way as George!
