Hart of Dixie Season 2 Finale Review: Zeorge or Zade?

by at . Comments

As irritating as it is to watch Zoe ping pong between Wade and George, her frustration over what happened was hilarious to watch on the Hart of Dixie Season 2 finale. At least at first.

In "On the Road Again," Zoe woke up hopeful that she didn't sleep with Wade... only to be disappointed when he walked out of the bathroom in only a towel. And then to make matters worse, George walked in on them. Seriously, her romantic life is a comedy of awkward situations. At this point, is it possible for her to be happy with either George or Wade? I'm not sure. And I blame the writers for that.

Zoe's Vacation

Zoe's actions these past few weeks haven't felt true to character at all. She's selfish, indecisive and was hurt by Wade, but her declarations to George and the night with Wade didn't make sense. And even though George walking in on Zoe and Wade was hilarious, he wouldn't just charge into her bedroom. He's too much of a gentleman for that. Though, I'll forgive the writers for that one, because his reaction was perfect.

Wade: Hi, Tucker.
George: No. No. No. This is -- This is unbelievable. This is freaking unbelievable. | permalink

When Zoe went to see George, he was right to push her away, even if he was wrong about her feelings for Wade. It was a nice reminder that George and Zoe have NEVER even been on a date. They have way too much romantic angst given their lack of ever having a romantic relationship. However, they did spend quality time together before he broke off his engagement to Lemon.

At this point, I don't think Zoe really knows how she feels. She was happy with Wade, but he cheated on her. I'm not sure she should ever forgive him for that. Though his speech about her seeing the good in him when he couldn't rang true. When she saw value in him, he began to see it in himself and he changed his outlook on life for the better. He's a different person now. When he lost her, he learned from his mistake. Plus, he has achieved his dream of owning a bar, which has given him confidence he was lacking before.

Zoe's decision to go to New York for the wedding on her own was the first smart move she's made in a while. The distance should give her some perspective on what she wants in life and who she loves. The surprise appearance of Jonah may put a wrinkle in her plan as he has feelings for her too and he convinced her to stay in New York for the summer. Will she decide that she likes the city life too much to go back to Bluebell? Or will she miss the small town life?

Three months can be a short or long amount of time to be away. When she gets back to Bluebell, will Wade and/or George still be pining for her? Either way, I hope the back and forth between the two men is finally over. And, no, that doesn't mean that one of them should be replaced with Jonah. While Zoe is in New York, she should have a summer fling and then return to Bluebell with a free heart. Or she should be ready to make a grand gesture to win the heart of either George or Wade.

Of course, perhaps George will show up in New York with Lily Anne's band. Outside of the watchful eyes in Bluebell and in their comfort zone of New York, perhaps Zoe and George could go on a real date and give their love a chance.

Odds and Ends

  • The abduction and retrieval of Burt Reynolds was ridiculous. Sometimes the Bluebell antics are nonsensical and make the residents look like brainless idiots. This was one of those times. I will now forever block the memory of that storyline from my mind.
  • Lemon lost her leadership role in the Belles to Cricket due to her new responsibilities at the Rammer Jammer. Can't wait to see how that plays out in season 3.
  • No one in Bluebell would ever say that a band is playing in town without actually booking them, right? Seriously, do the writers have a wheel and spin it to re-use storylines? The roadtrip to get the Gloriana's to play provided some nice Lemon-Wade bonding and banter.
  • Favorite moment: Dash's conversation about the "long awaited debut of Zeorge" and that Goe didn't work. And, is there "still hope for Zade fans out there?" A little meta, but hilarious regardless.
  • And, then even Lemon got in on the Zeorge stuff!
  • Lemon: Oh, this is about George Tucker. Because he broke up with Tansy and you think Zeorge is inevitable. No, you don't? Why not? He's finally single. She's single. Why wouldn't they? Oh my God. You slept with Zoe Hart.
Wade: Who are you? | permalink
Where you satisfied with the season 2 finale? Did Zoe make the right decision to go to New York? Should she pick a man and stick with him? Or would you miss the love triange and potential quadrangle?

(2/2) She really brings out the best in him even when they are not together. I am hoping for them to get back together but maybe not so soon. Zoe really needs to grow back into the person she was and figure out her feelings! Hoping she feels the same for Wade she will fly back to Bluebell and have everything figured out. I just hope that in season 3 we don't see even more of a digression for Zoe's character since the NY life isn't so hospitable as it is in the south but I am hoping for Wade to reinvent himself even more as a bar owner and prove to Zoe what she's missing. As for Jonah I don't see him sticking out and I'm pretty sure he won't be signed on for season 3-- writers just said he was cast to cause drama, I hope it stays there. As for George, I am happy that he is going on tour, I hope for no hookups with Lilly Anne, but this is time for George to find himself and the excitement that he craves and live it instead of through someone else.

(1/2)I'm glad the finale somewhat fixed the loose ends and mess that the second half the season 2 brought. I admit it was hard watching the past couple of episodes just trying to enjoy them as much as I did watching the first half of season 2 and even season 1. I love the characters in this show and hate to see their progress ruin in one bit.
Moving on to the finale I thought it was funny how they were poking fun at season 1's finale, but I did not think Wade would have slept with Zoe. I thought he would have known better to not take advantage of someone especially if it's the girl he loves. I was a little disappointed in how Wade reacted to the situation thinking it was back to casual sex but thank goodness he made it up in the end. Confessing his feelings were so unexpected for me and did not expect the "L" word to come up but you can definitely see the rawness in Wade's face and you can honestly see how much he really does love her.

(CONT). What I didn't like: - The ridiculous Rag-tag group that they brought together for the "gator-caper" what the heck was that? Are these cast members paid for a set number of hours and they needed to use them up before the end of the season? Why would Meatball and the Reverend get mixed up in this nonsense. - Jonah - I know, he added some "voice of reason" at times in the episode, but I'd really like Zoe to just go it alone and get some real Bluebell breathing room. If Jonah remains in the picture over the summer, so does Bluebell.

I'm thankful this episode did at least some work to trying to unmake the hot mess they've made of a good part of this season. Thinks I liked:
- REALLY liked seeing George go off on tour with Lilly Ann. Maybe George just needs to "be" the excitement & novelty he sees in NY, Zoe, Tansy, etc.. vs. looking for it in someone else. He's spent his whole life pretty much doing what he thought he should. This might be very good for George. - Liked Wade's speech. Whatever happens now, at least Wade believes that he's worthwhile as a person & is good enough for Zoe. At least that's the way it felt. He knows he can be a grown up now, and maybe he doesn't need her (or maybe he just wants her) - who knows. I just like this guy and am glad he gets to be a bit happier and more grown up.

2/2 I loved Wade's grand gesture & speech. I loved Lemon and how insightful and supportive but also direct she can be with her friends. I loved AB and Lavon and the rest even if the alligator plot was more than a little silly. I even like Jonah in a friend/antagonist capacity (it's just the love interest part that makes me roll my eyes at the lack of creativity and the forced drama). All in all, not as bad as I was expecting considering the rest of this season, especially the back half. But they certainly haven't redeemed this show or Zoe's character at all. I saw a quote from LG somewhere that they hit their stride this season. I guess Zoe's cluelessness is "inherited," but that just makes me worried about the future of the show. How come this site always gives me problems posting but the DISH spammers always seem to make it through?

In my opinion Zoe should end up with Wade because they have a lot better chemistry together than she ever did with George. I mean they were always bickering like an old married couple and its really funny to watch them. To me George seems like just a good friend or almost like a brother to Zoe. I just don't see her having the kind of passion with George that she has with Wade.

I don't understand everyones obsession with Wade! I am for team George! They should at least let them date and if it doesn't work she can always go back to Wade or move on to Jonah or whoever. Wade cheated on her! It only makes her look weak.... Give Zeorge a chance like they said they haven't even gone on a real date... Unless you count New Orleans???

This was a decent episode.
I loved the Lemon and Wade scenes, I can see these two forming a friendship and I would like it to remain that way, he could be a brother figure for her.
The look on Lavon's face at the end when Lemon said she was happy for him and wants to find the one for herself, Lavon looked upset at that.
You can totally tell that Zoe and Jonah will hook up. I would like to see her come back and be ready to forgive Wade, but really make him work at it. I do not think cheating is okay BUT he is a better match for her than George is.

I've been kinda bi-polar about this show lately. Some days I hate it and don't want to watch it again. Other days I'm back on board. I haven't been totally satisfied with everything going on. It's been more dissatisfying than anything else just because they seemed to focused on the cheese ball factor in the plots more than the meaty stuff I want to see happen. It's very cute and funny but you gotta throw us something to chew on more often than just watching people be goof balls for an hour. I am happy that in the finale they finally had Wade and Zoe have some kind of struggle with each other after the break up. They were both so indifferent about it that it seemed like "what was even the point of them getting together?" I'm also glad that George is moving on from being in love with the "idea" of a woman and looking to really be in love. I don't like Jonah's character he falls flat to me and is too much of a mix of the two men we have already been watching for 2 seasons straight. They should have introduced Zoe's Ex not just a new random Guy. As for Lemonade BLEH!!!! I just don't see it. I can barely cope with them running the rammer jammer together I just decided to ignore that plot development and pay attention to the other stuff.
