Reign: First Look!

by at . Comments

Starting this fall, it's will be Reign-ing on CW viewers every Thursday night.

With high hopes for this new drama, the network has slotted it after The Vampire Diaries, hoping fans of attractive blood suckers will stick around to learn the tale of Mary Stuart, who the world would come to know as Mary, Queen of Scots.

The official synopsis teases Reign as a series that focuses on "politics, religion and secret agendas of the heart," as Adelaide Kane's Mary gets herself caught up in a "royal" love triangle. Those are the fanciest, most dangerous kinds of love triangles!

Reign also stars Toby Regbo, Torrance Coombs, Megan Follows, Alan Van Sprang, Celina Sinden, Caitlin Stasey, Anna Popplewell and Jenessa Grant.

Look for a trailer later today and click through images from the premiere now.

I am very weary but curious about this show. Mary Queen of Scots certainly had a difficult life e.g her husband dying from illness soon after their marriage but I doubt they will mention that.
I don't like that they are making big changes to histories just so to fit in with the audience. Chances are the teenagers will go on thinking what they've seen IS historically accurate. History can be very interesting without such alterations. They should just create fictional characters and take the liberty of butchering up historical figures to suit their needs

Love period shows so i'll watch it at first. Hopefully it's good, Mary Stuart certainly had an interesting life buuuuuuuut CW?? Oh well. And i think Mary, although Scottish, was also Queen of France for a short time and was raised there too meaning that she'd have a French accent not Scottish or English. Maybe CW thinks that's too complicated for their teen-angst target audience though. :P

Teenagers and History ? I don't like it. I'll watch it for curiosity but it doesn't make me dream; Moreover, the main characters aren't very charismatic... Sorry but I've got The Tudors in my head and I'm not sure to be interested in a younger version with teenage problems...

I guess I'll give it a shot.. but I doubt it will be any good. and i'm just wondering.. she's from Scotland so how come she's got an English accent? It's just a detail but it would be more believable to me if the Queen of Scots actually sounded like a Scot. At least a bit. especially considering that in Marys time Scotland was still independent from England.

Certainly a Mary, Queen of Scots drama has good potential. There's plenty of "teen angst," love triangles, infidelity, betrayals, etc. to go around. I'll at least check it out.

CW tricked me to be curious about this show. Putting it after VD will give it huge focus. Hopefully it will get good press and be a good show.
